  • "Very nice lodge, we love this site, stay 3 times a year as good base for the lakes and surrounding areas."

Lovely welcome chocs and fiz and dog treats, thanks so much. A few points to mention; full cushions are needed for outside furniture as we did not want to sit on it without them. Hoover does not pick up, partner cleared it but the suction does not pick anything up from the floor, Kitchen bin is just too small for a family of 4 and a dog :)

But the hoover doesn't work so when you want to clean it's quite a challenge, had to sweep everything with a dustpan and brush. Still, everything else is fab!

We found everything to be very clean and welcoming and all the facilities we need, like home from home. It was lovely to get a visit from the owner, checking everything was okay armed with welcome gifts of Prosecco and biscuits, this was a lovely touch. Definitely recommend Ashton Lodge, will be staying again.

  • "After paying over £500 for a two night stay we were very disappointed with this lodge."

Paying such a high price we expected luxury which it definitely was not. Many areas needed attention but it isn’t our job to notify the owner of them, I suggest they go and have a look for themselves. Also other reviews mention a welcome bottle of Prosecco and box of chocolates, all we got was a pack with 4 dishwasher tabs and 1 bin bag! Also annoying that the price dropped dramatically for further weekend stays in June which just makes you feel conned. Definitely would not stay again.

I am disappointed to hear of your experience at the lodge.you should have contacted Sykes or myself to resolve any issues while you were there.the price you paid was£450 not over £500.please let Sykes know regarding the issues Property Owner

Lovely lodge in a great leisure park. Place was spotless and the owners left a nice touch with a box of chocolates and prosecco. Only one small issue was the WiFi code they left on the card was incorrect. I had to go looking for the code under the TV.

Thank you for your review. Sorry about the Wi-Fi code being incorrect, this was my fault. Property Owner

  • "Did enjoy it, and the additional touches of artifical flowers and light up pantry were lovely."

The towels were soft and fresh and the bed linen crisp and the kitchen and toilets clean, it was just the fact the carpets had not been hoovered and we found a sock and a cable, and crips underneath one of the beds , and the en suite toilet seat was not fixed in straight ( as related to Rodri when I phoned Sykes to let them know ) I had hoped there may have been a small shop on site, but that was not so, and we had not realised the resturant was closed on a Tuesday, - we did book in for Wednesday but can't say the food was tasty so we did not return there..

  • "We had a lovely stay at Ashton Lodge."

We found South Lakeland Leisure Park easily and it was a good base to explore the area. We were impressed by the beautiful grounds. The property owner kindly dropped by and brought us chocs and wine and treats for our dog and recommended places to go. We particularly liked nearby Arnside and Longland's Hotel for Sunday lunch. We found the lodge to be spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and comfortable with plenty of storage. We were really happy to find that the outdoor area was fenced in which made it dog friendly and the paths and grounds well maintained for walking. The park is very near the motorway and so you can hear it but it didn't take away from the beauty of the place and of course made it handy. The bar and restaurant is a nice spot though booked out when we wanted to go and the food looked good. The only negative I can think of is that we couldn't find any bins nearby to dispose of our rubbish. Had a great stay and loved the area - highly recommend. Thank you

  • "The lodge itself was lovely but the thing that let it down was the cleanliness of the communal kitchen/living space."

As a pet friendly lodge it is expected that that will be some remains of previous guests pets but in this scenario it was as if the carpets had not been hoovered and when I hoovered myself I filled the hoover twice with dog hair.

  • "This lodge is ideal for anyone with pets and children."

It’s in a great area for driving to various activities/sight seeing. The site doesn’t have as much for children, but they loved going on walks and out on their bikes. The lodge has great facilities and all in good working order. The owner popped over to greet us and went over and above to welcome us, offer advice on the area etc. We would recommend this to any families with a dog, there were a few local restaurants who welcomed dogs too. Thank you for a lovely week stay!

  • "The lodge was so nice, and it was a lovely size."

The location was perfect, nice and quiet and not to far from the complex. We had a few drinks at the pub on site but there was no food service for 3 days. We did however manager to get breakfast the last morning and it was lovely. Me, my husband and son went swimming whilst there. It was £20 for the 3 of us. The only disappointment was the fridge not working properly. We had seen a previous review about the fridge not working properly so presumed that would have been rectified before we came how ever we soon discovered it hadn't been. We arrived on the Friday and had bought some shopping to go in the fridge, on the Saturday morning we discovered that things weren't as cold as they should be. We moved things around and decided to leave it and see if things improved. By the Sunday morning we realised that we needed to contact someone as the food wasnt cold. We spoke to Sykes who contacted the owner who came out straight away. He gave my son chocolate and our dog teddy some treats. He mentioned that he had spoken to his heating engineer who said there was a blockage of ice at the back of the fridge and his plan was to come the next day with his son and try and sort the problem. He had brought a new replacement fridge that we put in the living room. This was smaller than the original fridge so some of our food wouldn't fit. Due to the original fridge not working properly some of the food had to be binned, we had bought fresh meat and fruit. The next day the owner and his son came back, they took out the fridge and tried to melt the ice blockage using a hair dryer. This didn't work! The owner asked could we leave the fridge/ freezer off for 24 hrs to see if that helped, this wasnt ideal as it was an inconvenience. I had some food in the freezer but the owner said that should be OK as food takes a while to defrost. By 11pm the same night I had to turn the fridge/ freezer back on as the freezer was defrosting. I had ice, lolly ices and Pizzas in the freezer. It was the 1st day of the heat wave so I think that may be why it was defrosting so quick. In all fairness to the owner he tried to rectify the problem and he ended up ordering a new fridge however it couldn't be fitted till after we left. This was disappointing as it had been an inconvenience of our stay. Due to the other fridge being smaller it meant we had to shop more as there wasn't enough room to get food in at once. This would not deter me staying in the lodge again and I am already looking at dates we can go again.

Thank you for your comments.I am please to tell you the NEW fridge is working wonderful. Property Owner

The lodge was exactly what we expected, clean with plenty space for a family of 4, the kids loved a room Each. Quiet site with lovely pub/restaurant onsite. Good base to explore the lakes and even took a day trip To Blackpool. Great to have WiFi, smart tv etc in the lodge as the mobile signal isn’t the best. We even had a visit from the owner as he wanted to check out the couple of areas that had negative reviews prior to us arriving. He was a Nice guy and brought us a bottle of Prosecco and a nice biscuit selection as the cleaner had ran out, even recommended a couple of places to go. • "It was a lovely place, but with a dog I didn’t expect a broom to clean up."

When you have a hairy dog you need a Hoover. If we was told there was no hoover or iron I would have bought our own. We was told when we got there they had removed them until Jan/Feb. Plus the dog bins were few and far between. The main bins were also removed because of covid, don’t see why and put right near reception, so you had to walk far to get rid of rubbish.

  • "Had a lovely week in this lodge, just a few minor issues."

You cannot drive to the lodge on arrival as there is a barrier, upon enquiring at the reception you are not given a map but told to take a photo of it which is stuck to the window and then you go to the lodge to collect the lodge key which has a fob on it which opens the barrier - so you go back to the reception area to collect your car and drive back, it isn't very far to the Sherwood area just a 5 minute walk. Incidentally unlike most other lodges on the park no 4 Sherwood has no sign on it which confused us at the start but if you find no. 3 follow the bend to the left and it's the green lodge there! The lodge has parking for 2 cars next to it and the decking is good with furniture so you can sit out and it is secure if you have your dog with you. Whilst we were there part of the decking on the front was replaced with glass panels which look nicer. Inside the fixtures and fittings all look new, there is a washing machine and a dishwasher and the bathroom & ensuite are a good size. The kitchen has a tall fridge/freezer and a big pantry which was really useful for storing food, however there was limited utensils, dishes etc so may be difficult if you are trying to cook for 6 people & there is also only 4 chairs at the table! The 2 bedrooms at the rear of the lodge have doors that do not shut properly as they are not fitted correctly. At the time of booking & I have double checked the listing before I wrote this, the information refers to taking advantage & having access to onsite facilities including the pool gym etc , however bookings through Sykes do not include passes which you have to purchase separately which are very expensive in my opinion, for 2 adults over 16 it costs £17 for a day pass, £45 for 3 days and £95 for a week, for a family of 2 adults & 2 kids it is £20/£56/£120 which I think is very expensive - but the listing should make it clear this is at an additional charge. We had drinks sat outside the restaurant but didn't dine there, if you have a dog there is a lovely pub called the Canal Turn in Carnforth but I would recommend you book first if you wish to sit inside although there are plenty of tables outside. Nearby are a Tesco/Booths & Aldi and the site is not far from Morecambe Bay or the Lake district. Nice quiet park even though it was the main summer holidays, would visit again though would choose a different lodge.
