  • "Honey Cottage is a really beautiful place to stay, it had everything you could possibly want and more."

The lounge area was very comfortable with comfy seating and log burner if needed (the central heating was sufficient though) TV with plenty of channels and netflix. Plenty of books, maps of the area and games for your use. The dining table was big and at he back of the lounge area. The kitchen was the most well equipped I have ever seen. Plenty of place settings, cooking utensils and cleaning products. The extention at the back has a beautiful sunroom, with a piano. There is a utility room with toilet, washing machine and vacuum cleaner. The sunroof looks out with bi-fold doors onto the flagged patio that has potted shrubs and plenty of tables and seating to sit outside, with views of the beautiful hills to the right. The bedrooms have very comfortable beds, two double and a twin room, there are two hairdryers (iron and ironing board in the closet). The bathroom is modern and very spacious with a walk-in shower, big fluffy white towels. The whole cottage is spotlessly clean and is beautifully furnished with lots of lovely pictures and ornaments. It was a pleasure to stay there. There Is just a short walk to the main street with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants/cafes. The supermarket Booths is also a 5 minute walk away. The road running past the property is quite busy and you need to be aware of that as you leave the property, as the door is onto the road, but it is not an issue as long as you are aware. The patio has a few steps you need to be aware of and the staircase to the bedrooms is narrow and quite steep (as are most of the cottages in the area) so just be a little careful. There is also a resident parking permit, for roadside parking around the cottage, we stayed on a very busy easter weekend and were always able to find a parking space). Would we visit the cottage again.... without a doubt. The owners were also very helpful and at the end of the phone if needed for advice and assistance too.

It's so handy for walking into town as well as accessing the rest of the South Lakes. Love the new extension! Really opens up the space at the back of the house.

  • "We had a wonderful time at Honey Cottage, which was just a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale."

The cottage itself was really cosy and comfortable, with everything provided that you could possibly need. The welcome pack was much appreciated as was the dog bed, bowls, blankets and towels which were a nice touch (along with some dog treats too!). The owner Heather was lovely and offered to help with any questions we had, or supply info about the area. We attended the Christmas Carol Service at the local church and were made to feel very welcome. Overall, a fabulous short break in a lovely village, made even better by the great accommodation.

  • "We had a lovely week at Honey Cottage, I really felt at home there, very comfortable and well equipped."

The terrace was gorgeous, especially as we were so lucky to have perfect weather. The terrace is bigger than it appears from the photo on the website and although it adjoins other properties it is very private. The location was exactly what I wanted, in the town and close to many great places to eat and drink. There was some traffic noise in the front bedrooms when the windows were open, which is inevitable in a town. We had 2 cars but parking wasn’t a problem, I used the permit to park further up the Mitchelgate and the other car was in the pay and display car park around the corner.

We loved our stay at Honey Cottage. It was homely, cosy, clean and full of character. A great location to explore the south lakes, the Morecambe coast, Yorkshire…but Kirkby Lonsdale is lovely in itself. Loved being able to walk to the high street in minutes, the chippy, the ice cream shop, the beautiful river walk. We enjoyed time out on the lovely back patio with the views too. So good for the soul! Thank you for a fantastic stay.

Owner is very helpful, cottage is very well equipped, welcome pack was a nice touch. Although it has three bedrooms and can accommodate six people I personally think it would feel a bit crowded with more than four adults. Overall cottage was clean and comfortable and perfectly located for exploring the area.

Thank you so much for the feedback and I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay. I appreciate that it is a cottage, not a large house; we have had many groups of 6 that enjoy how comfortable and cozy it is. I respect that it wouldn’t feel right for you. We pride ourselves on its position and amenities so we are hugely glad you found them so good. I hope you get to stay at the cottage again one day. Thanks again for staying at Honey Cottage. The cottage felt like home and the outdoor terrace was lovely to sit out on at any time of day. We had breakfast and dinner there most nights. Milk coffee, tea and biscuits were provided but a bottle of Prosecco and hand made chocolates just made it all so much more special. Our host Heather was wonderful. She gave very clear instructions about getting into the cottage and checked up the first night to make sure that everything was OK. The location of the cottage is ideal and you can trust the description given on the Sykes Cottages website. In fact the cottage was even better than expected and Heather goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need and more. What a lovely welcome surprise of Cava, chocolates and biscuits for us and treats for our dog too! The patio at the rear of the cottage is a sun trap - we were lucky to have superb weather - with seating and tables to enjoy being outdoors, the views and occasionally the sound of church bells. The patio is also very secure if you have a pet with you. Inside is very comfortable with clean white bedding, comfortable pillows and white fluffy towels. The walk in shower is great. If you do want to self cater the kitchen has everything you could possibly need to prepare and serve a meal. No need to wash up either as you can make use of the dishwasher. The shops and everything else in Kirkby Lonsdale are just a few minutes walk from the cottage and most either have signs saying dogs are allowed or will let you in if you ask. We will definitely be returning at some point and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage to others.

This cottage is ideal for friends and family wishing to enjoy time together to explore this captivating area.

On entering this well-presented cottage, the spacious downstairs has a beautiful period fireplace and woodburner, a lovely comfortable seating area and a generous dining area with a well-equipped kitchen.

Upstairs are three stylish bedrooms with a splash of colour, fitting in well with the character of the cottage.

From the back step, there is a superb spacious elevated courtyard with simply delightful views over the village roof tops to the church and fells beyond.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
