  • "The location was amazing had a good stay ."

The lodge is a little dated and wasn't the cleanest . The beds were comfy, the living room is a little crowded but we did enjoy our stay. Bathroom Was a little smelly and shower was poor . It wasn't all bad but like I said earlier just a bit dated.

  • "It's a lovely lodge in a perfect location."

I really wanted to give it 5 stars but the greasy finger prints everywhere, especially cupboard doors and the patio doors, let it down. The bathroom had a strong smell of urine and there were no heating instructions to be found. I had to wash some of the crockery before use as they had dried food on. There's maybe too much in the living room area too, making it hard to manoeuvre around. I guess it being a family owned lodge, it is all useful for them. There are lots of positives to the lodge. The beds are comfy, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need, including a small freezer. The details should be updated as this is not specified in the deets. The resort is just off the motorway and central for day trips to lake Windermere, Morecambe, Lancaster, Kendall etc. We wanted a base to go exploring and it was perfect for that. The area just in front of the balcony is home to swans, ducks and geese and it was wonderful to see them every day. Would I return? Yes I would, in a heart beat.

  • "The location of this lodge is perfect, however the inside was not."

Both bedrooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The living room and kitchen and bathroom very very tired looking and needed some renovation. This were distinctive odours in both the bathroom and kitchen area, which was very off putting. I would not choose to stay in this particular lodge again, but the actual site is very nice with an excellent reception, bar and restaurant.

  • "Pine Lake Resort is very easily accessible from the M6, yet it is very peaceful, and you can’t hear the motorway."

There’s everything you want on site, including a gym, sauna, and swimming pool, and of course the beautiful lake. Our cabin was situated on the waters edge, and we were looking forward to getting out on our paddleboards or having a leisurely swim. However, despite a previous conversation with the resort staff several weeks before we arrived when we were told we could use the lake for our leisure, upon arrival we soon found out that swimming/paddle boarding/kayaking were in fact not permitted on the lake due to large fish like pike in the water. You can imagine our disappointment, which was made even worse at the sight of the water sports centre across the lake from us that were hiring out kayaks and promoting all water sports despite the dangers of the pike!! Clearly the fish weren’t an issue, it’s just a business that wouldn’t do too well if everyone had brought their own kayaks and boards……………. Check in wasn’t until 4pm, which gave us time to drive to the beautiful lake Windermere and have a walk around: it was gloriously sunny, and we were amazed by the stunning views and calmness of the lake. When we got back to the cabin, we were disappointed by the state of the balcony and outside furniture which was filthy, and we had to spend half an hour giving it a good clean and sweep down, although there were far too many cobwebs for us to tackle. Having said that, the interior was very clean and tidy. Everything we needed was provided, from kitchen utensils to fresh towels, TV with Freeview, DVD player, microwave, kettle, etc etc. The bed was very comfy and there were extra sheets and pillows if needed. Despite our initial disappointment, we had a fantastic stay: it was very peaceful and lovely to sit and look out onto the lake. We would recommend staying here but if you’re expecting to have some fun in the water without paying for the privilege, I’d look elsewhere…………

  • "We had everything we needed to stay in the lodge for a week."

There were a few things we felt could be improved though. A hd tv would have been nice as we had a tablet that we would have liked to connect. The bathroom could have done with some care also along with some storage space for shampoos etc. Finally, the bush next to the parking space could also be trimmed as it was constantly getting in the way.

  • "Lodge is in a fabulous location right on the waters edge, very clean and well kept."

Bathroom had issues, toilet does not take away waste easily takes numerous flushes and the water boiler is very loud it could do with an update. The red leather chair in the pics is not there so for 4 adults (6'3 x 2) we were a little squished on the small sofa and one chair which for us did not work too well. We turned around the table and chairs as originally it was in a position you had to climb over one another to get in and out, but when moved around this was no problem. Overall a great stay and lodge is great value we would stay again. Thank you

The lodge was OK, everything you need is provided and you can tell the attempts to keep the lodge clean but its getting tired and could do with an update especially flooring and bathroom (there was a loud noise when flushing the WC which meant we couldn't flush once the kids were in bed) the TV could do with upgrading also (not smart no access to netflix and others for those nights in) we had a lovely time and with a spruce up this lodge could be wonderful.

All items in the lodge were clean and the lodge was comfortable. We didn't use the restaurant as it looked quite shabby to us. The "shop had very little to offer and it is better to take a 5 min drive to Aldi ! The lodge could do with a bit more information in it to say how to use the heating but other than that it was very nice. A previous person mentioned trouble flushing the loo and yes it does take a few tries!!! Don't know why as the flush appears to be quite powerful. Not really an issue.

Very strange noises when flushing. Toaster not working had to hold lever down while using. Could not seem to get bottom oven to work, but could have been us! These issues did not detract from our enjoyment of the lodge as it was brilliant but hopefully can be resolved for other people using the lodge

Gorgeous views. Only let down was patio table and chairs which were very rusty and unusable so we could not sit outside and no DVD player. To our consternation the evening before departure at 9.20pm a lady brought a brand new DVD player and patio set. Very upsetting as we were going home next morning. Bistro serves good food and staff are pleasant. They are all trained very well and social distancing is kept up at all times. Despite upset we would go back

  • "We visitted Hope cottage last at February half term so knew what to expect."

The outside of the lodge lets it down as it has still not been cleaned of cobwebs, leaves, bird muck, etc. The outside patio furniture is too rusty to use. The windows have never been cleaned and inside the lodge had not been thoroughly cleaned when a closer look is taken. On the positive side, this could be easily rectified by the owners. Also there is still no DVD player. The lodge has a perfect location on the lakeside with plenty of ducks, swans around and the location was nice and quiet. Pine Lake is ideal location for South and western lakes.

  • "The main issue we had was with the cleanliness at a time when check ins/check outs were extended to allow for extra cleaning?"

The towels/bedding was clean. But Personally I feel the standard of deeper cleanliness at this property was poor. Considering we have a pandemic. The property is aged and this is evident in the smell. We appreciate the Price probably reflects this, especially when you look at properties direct with the site owners. Fantastic view at the property makes up for this in parts.

  • "The accommodation is as described and in a lovely location."

It is a decent size for a family of 4 to comfortably enjoy a weeks holiday. Cleanliness was the primary let down although things such as half of the mugs for coffee having chips around the drinking area, only a fridge (not even a freezer drawer which meant our ice cream went in the bin) and a grill which didn’t work (both ovens did work). If the items were resolved and the place was properly clean I would be happy to go back to Hope Lodge.

We would like to thank you very much for your feedback. I am happy to confirm that there is a freezer inside the property and new mugs have since been purchased. We look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

Washing line in bathroom has no attachment to fit to wall. One and a bit toilet rolls, I think this could be more generous. Also a couple of small guest soaps would be appreciated. Not everyone expects to have to bring these items, kitchen roll would also be appreciated. But after moaning about this, it was an improvement on last year's visits and the selection of tea and coffee

Nice having the washing machine and dishwasher but didn't use them, would prefer to have a freezer (we have a caravan and have an excellent under counter fridge/freezer). Did have an issue with access to leisure centre as on previous visit we had a card for entry but there was none this time. Leisure centre also closed early (2.30pm) on the Sunday which was really disappointing. I checked at reception who confirmed that facilities were included in our booking, however, staff at leisure centre could find no record of it and were reluctant to let us in. This dampened the experience a little. However, overall a lovely lodge, homely and cosy. This is our second visit and we would return in an instant, in fact kids were in tears leaving!

  • "The lodge was in a lovely location, quiet & peaceful."

Thought the lodge itself could do with a bit of an update, very dark inside and the lighting was poor. Found it so strange, in this day & age, that there was no freezer compartment in the fridge. Must be very difficult for people with children, who maybe can't afford to eat out every night. Think this is something the owner should consider. We would return to Pine Lodge but maybe not that particular lodge. Obviously the Lake District was lovely, amazing scenery and some quaint pretty villages.

LANCASTER

Morecambe 3 miles; Windermere 30 miles; Blackpool 37 miles.

The historic city of Lancaster sits on edge of Morecambe Bay, with the River Lune flowing through its centre. Lancaster retains many excellent examples of handsome Georgian architecture, and with its captivating medieval castle, Ashton Memorial, and four museums, it’s an interesting place for those in search of history and tales of the past. Among the many amenities, there are two venues for live performances, the Lancaster Grand Theatre and the Dukes, as well as open-air concerts held frequently in the pretty Williamson Park during the summer season. The Forest of Bowland and The Arnside & Silverdale Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty provide visitors with lots of opportunities to take in the flora and fauna of the area, with wonderful walking and cycling ways to enjoy.
