“The lodge was one of the nicest that we have stayed in at Southlakes.”
It was absolutely spotless and there was some lovely small details like the vase of fresh flowers and the complimentary tea coffee and cookies. The view from the huge decked area was lovely too. The only slight hiccup we had was with the heating. But a phone later the owner was on hand and only too happy to come out and help us. First class lodge in first class surroundings. Puddle Duck lodge you did us proud, despite us wanting to change our booking to another lodge we had stayed in previously on the same park. I’m glad we stayed. Definitely be back and can’t recommend highly enough. Thinking about booking for a week I’m March for my Birthday.

“A wonderful winter getaway!”
My dad and I decided on a winter break for a change so we could visit the Lake District and we liked the look of Puddle Duck Lodge from the start. It might look small on the outside but it was surprisingly big inside. We enjoyed the views across the lake from the many windows in the lodge and we were visited each night by rabbits! There is a large open plan living area with dining facilities, lounge and kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, dishes and condiments, and there was hot water available at all times. For cooking you have the choice of oven and microwave along with a large fridge and freezer for the food you might want to bring. The entire lodge has a huge amount of cupboard space with each room, plus a small selection of games, books and dvds. We were happy to find a drawer full of leaflets for places to visit which we made use of as well as a useful welcome folder. I was worried that I might find it cold, the way caravans can be in winter but the lodge was very cosy to return to after a cold day of sightseeing. There is adjustable central heating and a fire in the living area which is very warm so you need have no worries about being cold whenever you visit. The beds were comfortable and we slept like logs for the entire week, plus the bathrooms were spacious. I have no complaints about anything in the lodge and we both very much enjoyed everything that it had to offer. Carnforth is just a few minutes drive away where you can find Tesco and Aldi which is very useful if you don't plan on eating out. You are also close to several other shops and petrol stations and just a few minutes from the M6. We used the lodge as a base to visit all the main lakes, various wildlife places like RSPB Leighton Moss and Lakeland Wildlife Oasis which are short drives away on the A6, plus the Lakeland Motor Museum at Newby Bridge. We didn't have time to see everything we wanted so on our next visit we have the options of various nearby towns, the Cumbria and Lancashire coasts and the Yorkshire Dales. You are spoiled for choice with places to visit! Perhaps if we choose a different time of year we can do some boat trips on the lakes. This was a really great holiday. We were lucky to be there from the 20th-27th so we avoided the flooding and storms. Yes it was cold at the lakes but we were well wrapped up and the weather was never going to get in our way! We really look forward to our next visit to the area next year and we certainly want to stay at Puddle Duck Lodge again!
Stayed in August 2014 and had an amazing holiday! Accommodation was very well presented and very modern. The lodge is directly on the lake with lovely views and plenty of ducks for the kids to feed. The Lodge is only a short drive away from Carnforth and a little further to Morecambe where there are plenty of things to entertain the kids. We didn't eat at the pub on site but did eat at the Canal Turn in Carnforth which was very good. This is a fantastic place to stay at a very reasonable price and we had such a good time we booked up immediately for next summer.
“Fantastic Weekend Break”
We spent a long weekend at Puddle Lodge and had an amazing holiday. Beautiful Lodge, completely exceeding our expectations. Perfect location easy to get to and really handy for the Lake District. The lodge is so comfortable, the owners think of all of the little details making it a real home from home. We were really sad to leave. We had such an amazing time, we have booked another week there in October! Would highly recommend it to anyone!
“It's even better than the photos!”
High quality furnishings throughout the lodge including top quality kitchen and bathrooms, although beware very bright early morning sunshine in master bedroom! A blackout blind would be a good addition. Prime position overlooking the lake. Welcoming touches on our arrival. Delightful decking area. Excellent swimming pool (charge per use) and restaurant. Traffic noise from motorway is present, but not intrusive. You are some distance from the main Lake District locations, so you will need a car.
