  • "Great little place for a stay with kids."

The lodge is cosy, tidy and clean, and linen and towels were of a good quality, better than expected. Facilities onsite i.e. swimming pool are good if a little expensive, but worth having onsite. We would have liked to eat at the restaurant, tried twice but unfortunately they were too busy to accommodate us, I suspect this was due to staffing issues as not all the tables were full. Thank goodness for a local Aldi 5 mins down the road.

Thanks. You will be aware that our lodge is privately owned and we have no say over the prices charged at the pool - although we know that guests on the park pay less than the general public. We spoke to the restaurant people today - a new team is taking it on with a new menu and better staffing levels. We are pleased that you found the very good facilities in nearby Carnforth. We will provide future guests with local restaurant details . Property Owner

  • "The holiday lodge is quite compact for 5 guests."

Beds were comfy, although the twin bedroom has small single beds. The lodge is in a peaceful location on the park which suited us. The lodge has wifi which we enjoyed. The lodge is quite tired and could do with some tlc. There is only a small under counter fridge with a small freezer box. The fridge is quite useless as its so small. Only suitable for milk, butter, water. We had a 5 year old with us and the small freezer box did not even keep small bag of chips frozen. I would say for 5 guests a fridge freezer is a must. There is room for one. We stayed for 1 week and could really of benefited from a washing machine instead of the dishwasher. Owner was nice and phoned before our stay to chat and give us some tips of where to visit etc, so that was nice. We have stayed at south lakeland park before but this was a small lodge in comparison. We did enjoy our weeks stay and had some lovely days out.

Thank you for your feedback for Shrimpers Lodge. We do try to make it clear on the Sykes website that we do not have a washing machine in the property, and state that there is a launderette available on site. We do not mention a freezer in the description as we do not have one in the property, although there is small ice box in the under-counter fridge. Images of the property demonstrate the size and style of the lodge , the size of the bedrooms and the kitchen facilities Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely week at the Shrimper's Cottage."

Set in a beautiful park. Very quiet and relaxing stay. Unfortunately we didn't go for a walk within the park but even so near our lodge we could see the lakes and lots of wildlife. Would definitely stay here again.

  • "Booking the cottage through Sykes was very straightforward and the communication was great - very helpful and polite."

The accommodation was as described and we were very pleased with it. It was clean, tidy & comfortable and had everything we needed, especially the WiFi with a great connection which was very useful with 2 teenagers!! It was in a good, central location - the surrounding area in that part of Lancashire is lovely and it was easy to get up to the Lakes or down to Blackpool for the day. The park had a pool and gym which we used a couple of days. You do have to pay extra for it but the staff were lovely and helpful and it was handy for the couple of rainy days we had as you could come and go all day if you wanted to! The owners of the cottage got in touch before we went there, which was helpful to chat about the surrounding area with knowledgeable locals, and during the holiday to make sure everything was ok. If we were heading back that way for a holiday we would definitely stay there again. Thank you.

  • "The lodge needs sone maintenance, the doors do not close properly and are hard to lock."

The Kitchen taps are a little loose. The freezer top in the fridge was iced up quite badly and the fridge was not clean. The carpet has stains, especially in the corridor. The beds are really comfortable and the lodge was well situated. We had a good stay and we did enjoy it.

Thank you for your text while you were there advising us that you were comfortable and we're glad that you found the beds comfy. We did have contact with you during your stay and are sorry that you did not advise of any other concerns at that time. The door locking features work, but will provide more specific instruction to future guests to clarify how the locking mechanism works. We have checked the taps and they are are fully operational, the fridge cleanliness is checked on every changeover and the freezer section of the fridge has been defrosted - apologies that a build up of ice had happened and has been checked moving forward on every changeover and this issue had not recurred. There is a small mark in the hallway area from boiler maintenance although it has been cleaned thoroughly and was recleaned again for the start of the season. This area is also covered by a clean rug and is hidden unless the rug is picked up. Sykes Cottages have a dedicated help line for any guest concerns and we also give our owner contact number out pre arrival - as we are local, we would have been only to happy to address any concerns during your stay if we had known, we're sorry we weren't given the opportunity to do so. • "Great place with all you could wish for a great relaxing holiday."

Definitely a must to go again, the lodge is very clean and comfortable everything mentioned was there. The comment that failed the mark is that no recycling was available but that was the park's fault, most probably due to covid.

Comfy beds and a fab large shower which my granddaughter loved. Essentials of tea, coffee etc were there on arrival. Very helpful owners advising places to visit and facilities of the site. A second visit is definitely on the cards. Would have a loved a hot tub - maybe next time ?

Would have preferred a washing machine to a dish washer, but that's just my personal preference.

  • "Perfect place to stay while away for a few days in the lakes."

A few bits need maintaining a little - door wouldn’t shut in between living room and bedrooms as metal plate broken and no main light in living room... nothing major but small bits that for the price should be checked inbetween bookings maybe. Cosy and clean though with excellent communication from the owners.

The beds were really comfortable and the lodge has everything you need for a great stay. Not far from the Lake District and other attractions. We used the swimming pool this was £20 for a family of four for the day however you can book for the full weekend if you wish.
