  • "The cottage was perfect."

So comfortable and beautifully furnished. The location could not be more perfect, with a cafe, a well stocked stop that meant we didn't need to do a supermarket trip, and a pub literally a few steps from the door. The only thing that could be looked at or improved is an upgraded smart tv that would allow is to stream from Netflix.

  • "The Snug is aptly named - it made a perfect base for a long weekend in the beautiful village of Cartmel."

It is cosy and comfortable in a great location within easy walking distance of all local services. The owner was very helpful with good advice on places to eat, drink and visit when I rang to confirm key collection arrangements. There is also much useful local information in a folder in the cottage, although some of it is out of date and could do with refreshing. My only suggestion for additions to the amenities in the cottage would be for a pint glass to accommodate the excellent bottled beers obtainable from the Cartmel Brewery in Unsworth's Yard!

  • "The only problem we had was with an email from you with the contact number of the owner ,for us to pick up the keys."

You sent a second number the day before ,on ringing in i went into panic because the person messaged back saying they had only stayed there once and the property was no longer let out so nor available !! We thought we can been scammed !! it was a worrying time until the first number you had sent got back to us to confirm all was ok.

  • "The Snug is a wonderful little cottage in the historic village of Cartmel."

The decor and amenities were modern and suited my needs perfectly. It's in one of the easiest to get to locations one can think of and even has the convenience of a local shop and pub just over the road. I also can't thank the owner, John, enough for being so friendly and helpful in explaining more details about the cottage.

  • "We had a lovely time at the snug."

The cottage is lovely and the bed and linen super comfy. Something to note, parking is not so easy as there are restrictions everywhere and traffic wardens were patrolling. If in Cartmel again we would be happy to stay at The Snug!

  • "Staying at The Snug was an absolute pleasure."

It was such a pleasant holiday from the minute we stepped foot into the well kept, cosy and warm Snug. Cartmel is a lovely tranquil village, The Snug is in the perfect location to walk to Pubs, and travel to other nearby villages. The owner was very informative with recommendations on nearby places to eat and visit. The snug was clean all the way through and the towels smelt lovely a fresh. We would definitely return without hesitation. Thank you very much.

  • "This was our fourth visit to this delightful cottage."

While the property has been upgraded we no longer have any control over the heating. There is no thermostat and in the bedroom there is no valve on the radiator so when the boiler comes on in the night we were woken by both the noise and the uncontrollable heat.

  • "The cottage was very clean, comfortable & in a great location but lacked a few welcoming touches."

There was a log burner as advertised but this was not laid ready and not even enough wood to make a fire on arrival. There was no coffee/tea or milk which I would have normally expected as standard. There is a shop a few yards away but it would have been nice to have these little touches in situ

  • "I would say that, overall, it was slighly below par for a Sykes cottage."

Although it is called The Snug it wasn't especially snug. Because it doesn't get a lot of sun, and the heating was switched off, the cottage was quite cold the first night. Although the owner was quite quick to respond to a text, he only gave us an hour or so in the morning and then unilaterally decided we'd had enough bursts of warmth after two days. Luckily the weather became very hot to the extent that eventually even the cottage warmed up. Also, on the first night the ancient TV in the bedroom lost power completely and irreversibly despite my wife's heroic efforts with fuses etc, and no attempt was made to repair or replace it. Finally, at Sykes cottages there's usually a welcoming bottle of milk and some tea bags for a cup of tea to look forward to after a long drive, but not this time. Although the cottage was relatively cheap for the week, regrettably, the whole experience of it even at the price seemed a little mean-spirited.

Gorgeous recently refurbished, spacious bathroom with excellent shower. Cosy warm, comfy, sympathetically furnished double bedroom. Cosy sitting room with open fire which we didn’t use - just because of timing - but the owner is planning to upgrade to a wood burning stove which will be an excellent addition to this lovely cottage. Really lovely house for two; steps away from excellent village local pub and corner shop and bakery. Strongly recommended

The cottage is extremely cozy, ample room for 2 people. The modern walk in shower is a great feature. The only negative I could say is that whilst there you have no control of the central heating. However when I contacted the owners direct, they were very helpful... overall very satisfied and would use again.. thankyou
