  • "My family and I have just returned from our stay at the Black Swan Manor and we had a fantastic time."

The property is decorated to a high standard and very spacious which is ideal for a few families sharing or a group of friends. Our children especially loved the basement area which had a cinema room and a pool table. Location is excellent, it is right in the centre of Kendal and only a few minutes drive to Lake Windermere. Owner of the property (Gerry) was very friendly and accommodating and we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a luxurious property in a beautiful area.

  • "We had a fabulous week in The Black Swan."

It’s in a great location - well situated for local shops and restaurants. The owner was brilliant and did everything he could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The house is very comfortable and very well equipped with loads of space for a big group. It was spotlessly clean and a very welcome basket of goodies awaited us on our arrival. The hot tub was amazing and well used after a day on the golf course or out walking in the hills. Couple of minor issues - you would struggle to get five cars in the parking area - we struggled getting three in - so you may want to revise the information on that. Also there is very little hanging space in the bedrooms for clothes - no wardrobes - so if you’re there for a week with a lot of clothes, keep that in mind. We will definitely go back and recommend the house to other big groups looking for a place to stay in Kendal.

  • "We had a great stay at the Black Swan and would recommend it to other large groups who are looking to enjoy visiting the Lake District."

As a group of 14 adults and 1 baby, we found the cottage to be extremely comfortable and with adequate facilities. There are 2 full en-suite rooms, and one room has a toilet but no shower. The rooms are set up in a way that there is a shared bathroom on each floor, making it easy to share those facilities. If you are travelling with a baby then they also provide a cot and high chair, making it easy for families with young ones. The cottage is really well set up and great for friends/ family to enjoy in the evenings. There is an excellent bbq area outside, which also includes a rotisserie. There is a large patio, with a great view of Kendal and a hot tub out on the patio as well. Inside, you have a large dining table and a large seating area, so we had a lot of space to enjoy the bbq and a dinner. If you are planning to cook, there is a large kitchen, with lots of pots & pans so you can make use of this as well. The basement of the cottage is where the fun really begins, there is a games room with a large pool table, a cave bar where we put on our speakers and enjoyed a real ‘club’ feel. There is also a cinema room which was perfect for comfortable late night chats and for hanging out overall. We really enjoyed our stay, the cottage is really well done up and modern. All the bathrooms and bedrooms are clean, comfortable and well decorated. The host (Jerry) was very responsive, no question was too big or small and he replied with a lot of detail allowing us to be prepared and to have a comfortable stay. The cottage is a short 15 min drive to Windermere, and it is really conveniently located in the centre of town. You’re close to coffee shops, Tesco, and the high street itself. I would recommend this cottage for friends who want a fun weekend away and large family groups as well.
