  • "This is a great holiday cottage."

We generally book two cottages in the lakes annually and this is the best we have stayed in so far. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog and well maintained. Probably the cleanest cottage we have stayed in and the kitchen the best equipped we have used. The cottage is right on the edge of the town and a two minute walk to shops/pub. Saras indian do a tasty take away. Plenty walks on the doorstep, a walk up the old copper mines is very enjoyable and interesting.

  • "A lovely, clean, bright cottage in a great location with plenty of off-road parking and a nice garden for relaxing in but, sadly, the amenities provided were somewhat sparse and below what you would expect as “the norm” for a cottage in this price range."

There seemed to be a significant amount of penny pinching on the basics and some simple maintenance is needed. There is no welcome pack and the cupboards are bare so you will need to take items such as milk, tea, coffee, condiments, cooking, oil, etc. as well as washing powder and dishwasher tablets (you could wash the pots in the sink if the plug keep the water in & there was more than one tea-towel for the week) and extra toilet rolls. Broken/loose floor tiles and the leak in the bathroom need fixing as does the blown double glazing in the bedroom which has resulted in damp/mould around the window. On my nice to have list would be a bedside lamp on each side of each bed, not just one per bedroom, and shorter grass which would make picking up after my dogs a lot easier. Finally, if you are looking for accommodation for 6 be aware 2 of your party will be sleeping in the conservatory/dining area on a sofa bed with no privacy from the kitchen or garden as there are no curtains or blinds to provide privacy or keep the daylight out.

  • "Although the cottage is nice and in an excellent position it is poor value for money."

It seems to be priced for six when only four could stay comfortably. The sofa bed in the conservatory area is effected by no curtains across the main large window. In the reviews comments have been made for improvements which don’t seem to have been carried out. No welcome pack, no games, no books, perhaps this is covid related!!

  • "A beautiful clean bungalow we had a wet week but it didn’t stop us having a lovely time with my sister and her husband and 2 dogs it was my husband’s 60 th birthday when we were there so had a nice place to enjoy it ."

Thank you we would go back there again.

Very comfortable accommodation. Handy for local shops, pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance.

  • "A very well equipped property in a lovely quiet location."

Plenty of room for four of us and a dog who enjoyed the dog friendly garden.

  • "My husband and I have been holidaying in the UK for over 40 years with many stays in self-catering and this is the very best property we have ever stayed in."

It was beautifully presented both in terms of facilities, decor and cleanliness. The position was perfect for us and we hope to re-book another year. I have written in the Guest Book just two comments: a nest of tables in the lounge is needed and bedside lamps on both sides would have made the cottage perfect! Thank you.

  • "Thanks for a lovely stay, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!"

The house was perfect for us, warm, clean, comfortable, spacious and well-appointed. The enclosed garden was great for the dogs and off road parking for two cars also appreciated. The owner was also very responsive and helpful when we got in touch over some minor weather damage to the house - it was very windy last week in the Lakes!! The only additional thing we could think of to add would be an outside tap for sorting the dogs out when coming back from a walk. Otherwise - perfect! Thanks very much!

  • "We had the best time at this lovely cottage in a surreal village surrounded by hills."

The cottage itself was spacious, clean and beautifully done up. Our evenings were mostly spent at home in the cosy living room. It’s also located perfectly, close to basic amenities, cafes and shops. We’d love to come back one day.

  • "This is a lovely place to stay, with care taken to ensure it is as comfortable as possible."

We had two dogs with us so we made sure we had covers for the floors when they came in from walks and the garden. An outside tap would be really useful for wet and muddy clothes, boots and dogs.

  • "The property was excellent and very well appointed."

Clean, tidy and overall the pictures on the website didn’t do it justice. A lot bigger than expected with a well appointed kitchen and two good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Nothing negative to say about the property and would have rebooked for next year had it not been for the huge price increase- which I am confused about?

  • "Stayed in some fantastic properties over the years but this one was right up there with the best, exceptional."

Just one thing that I would like you to comment on please is the cost of the property at the same time next year was double what we paid for our stay????don’t mind a price increase but double ...wow ..no thank you...please comment .... Just to confirm that this does in no way reflect on the property or location in any way as this was a fantastic week away

  • "The cottage was great, we loved it."

I think the only small thing was that it wasn’t made clear in the description that the fire wasn’t real. This didn’t spoil the holiday but would’ve been nice. Maybe replace the mugs as a couple of them were cracked. We loved everything about it and would return in a heartbeat

  • "This cottage is exactly as it is described."

It is in a great location with the most beautiful backdrop. We stayed as a family of 4 with 2 dogs and there was plenty of room for everyone. The only suggestion I could make would be a radio in the kitchen maybe.

At the front of the house is the sitting room where a large window seat in the bay window looks out to the outstanding views of the surrounding peaks, and a sofa and armchair are positioned around the Smart TV and the woodburning effect fire, setting you up for a relaxing evening.

Head down the hall to find the fully fitted kitchen, home to a large electric cooker with a 6-ring gas hob, leading to the beautiful dining room within the conservatory, so you can enjoy your meal with a view.

Step onto the decking and toast to a great holiday as you sit at the outdoor seating, with a good-sized lawn perfect for letting your four-legged friend stretch their legs.

From the dining area discover the first of two super-king-size bedrooms which you can keep as the large indulgent super-king or change into a twin room to suit your party.

This bedroom benefits from a wonderful en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower over, whilst the second bedroom at the front of the property is served by the shared bathroom.

The centre of the pretty village of Coniston is just a stroll away, where you can find traditional inns, local cafés and independent shops scattered against the mountainous backdrop.

Enjoy spending time on Coniston Water, whether you are trying a new activity like kayaking or canoeing, or simply relaxing as you sail along the waters on the Steam Yacht Gondola run by the National Trust, taking in the sights and sounds of the Lakes.

Walkers can embark on a route leading to Old Man of Coniston, a sizeable peak, right from the front door starting off in the village and climbing through old quarry workings, past Low Water, before reaching the summit, and then coming back down through the much loved walking area of Walna Scar and back to the village.

Spend some time venturing further out into different towns in the Lakes such as Ambleside, a town which marks the head of Lake Windermere, you can visit the Ambleside Roman Fort, see the Stock Hill Force waterfall, or from here take a Windermere Lake Cruise across down to Windermere itself where you can find The World of Beatrix Potter.

For a picturesque break in the Lakes enjoy the tranquil setting at Holme Fell.
