  • "Lovely cottage that suited all our needs & benifit of been close to center of Coniston & lake."

The view from the barn door in the kitchen was breath taking every morning. My only two small gripes are the listing stated there was a bbq?And several people have also stated rear garden needs a gate & be more secure for dog owners seen as though the cottage is advertised as pet friendly. I would recomend this cottage and would stay again, thank you

  • "We had a great week in a very clean and comfortable cottage."

Just a couple of minor points - it would be nice if here was a small table outside so it would be possible to eat outside (this has been mentioned a number of times in the visitors book. Secondly, a clothes airer would be useful - did some washing of things that cannot go in tumble dryer and had to use towel rail in ensuite to dry.

  • "The cottage is in a great location in the center of coniston close to pubs and shops and close to the lake and walks on its doorstep it has great views from the small back garden."

If you are taking a dog the garden isn't secure it is open at the side , requires gate and fence installed, this highlighted many times in visitor book ,which wouldn't be a huge cost,do the owners read the comments left? I don't think so Also a small table outside to be able to sit with a drink in the evenings looking at great views, would be nice , this has also been mentioned in previous comments, the neighbouring property has made there small garden so much better for outside living , the owners could do so much more with this small garden . • "Property was clean and the equipment in the kitchen was very good and appeared relatively new."

Bathrooms clean and well maintained and the beds we slept in were comfortable. The small sofa in the lounge was a little uncomfortable especially when trying to view the TV in the corner of the lounge.

  • "The cottage was for 4 people only seating for 3 in the lounge."

Only 1 bath towel and 1 Hand towel per person for a weeks stay. Needs better shelf’s or bigger towel rail in house bathroom. Very dusty dirty radiators. Garden not secure for our dog needs a fence, and garden table. But on the positive fantastic location, great views, and very cosy. Booked to go back in May 2023 we enjoyed the stay just a few alteration would make the stay more comfortable.

  • "Lovely location and views."

Love a coal fire and it was homely. It would of been nice to have a little bit of wood/coal for when we arrived so we can make a quick fire. It would be better with an enclosed garden as we took our puppy and he needed to be on a lead every time he went out. Outside light didn't work either. We would stay again in the future. Liked the welcoming cleaning kit.

  • "Very clean, with lots of space, and good facilities."

The kitchen was well stocked and the decor made the cottage feel very homely. The location was excellent being right in the heart of Coniston and fantastic views out the back windows to the Coniston Fells.

  • "The property was very comfortable and well equipped."

We stayed with our dog who loved lying in the streams and lakes, some days she got very muddy. The only thing missing was a hose in the garden for cleaning the dog down. We loved the location, the veiws from the back of the cottage are beautiful. The pubs and shops are very close and the lake is just a 15 minute walk.

  • "Overall a very enjoyable stay."

Only very minor comments which I think have been made before, would have been nice to have a table in the garden to use on those pleasant evenings. But to be honest, not a showstopper. Would recommend the cottage to anyone

Duvets are lumpy sheets don't fit bed, dust behind sink in bathroom and inside radiators,we had to wash grill and pans before we could use them grill pan needs replacing,I don't understand why people don't wash things after use. We love cottage but needs updating.

  • "A couple of niggles!"

The wooden seat on the lavatory pan wouldn’t stay up; Only four china/cutlery meant over frequent washing up; the TV remote would not operate on 3; Tea/coffee/milk on arrival would have been welcome, whereas the “cleaning” pack was good.

  • "The cottage was very clean and comfortable, well equipped and in a lovely location with great views of the mountains."

It was about a 10 minute walk away from the lake and 5 minutes from the Sun Hotel where we enjoyed several excellent meals. The outside space was not fully enclosed if visiting with a dog, it didn’t matter to us as our dog never wanders off but could be a problem for some. A small table and comfortable seating outside would have been the only improvement I could suggest but this didn’t detract from our enjoyment of our stay.

  • "Upon arrival we found that the kitchen had not been cleaned thoroughly."

The hob was dirty and splashed with grease/food particles. The oven was disgustingly filthy and unusable and generally the kitchen needed a deep clean as parts looked as if it hadn't been touched in years. The kettle and the breadbin had food splashed on them and looked grubby. This was all reported to Lakelovers straight away via e-mail and they contacted me the following day. To be fair, the agent offered to send in a cleaner but it needed much more than a wipe over and we weren't prepared for an intensive clean to be carried out during our stay. They arranged for some cleaning products and some oven trays to be delivered a couple of days later which I used to clean some of the surfaces to make it feel a bit safer. I think some of the published photos must have been enhanced as the property looks much brighter in those than in the flesh. The lounge in particular was very dark . The only positives about this cottage in our view are its location and the lovely views from the back.

  • "Great location if you're going to do lots of walking, especially Coniston Old Man."

Very clean and ideal for 2 couples as you've got 2 bathrooms, both of good size. Lovely view from back bedroom. If looking for romantic and quaint cottage it may not be the one for you. Failed to find BBQ and only 1 log left for fire. Didn't expect lots of fuel but enough for first night. Could also benefit from small table outside so you don't have to eat off your knee if eating outside. Hats off to the cleaners. Exceptional job during covid. Bin bags left weren't advised ones for the independent collection so problematic for refuse collection. Would recommend for walkers keen on exploring the local area. .
