  • "A lovely holiday, thank you Lily and David for your warm hospitality!"

A working farm, and you can see how much work that is, with having to see to the sheep of an evening, trio of sheepdogs off in the back of the jeep. We cycled, walked, and dipped into spectacular pools at the waterfall on the sunny days, and enjoyed reading and watching the 3 turkeys playing tag with Ben the sheepdog on the wet days. Sedbergh is a lovely little town with a great home-grown cultural life, independent shops (not only 2nd hand book shops, also crafts and independent greengrocer etc.) and quaint streets. And even in the height of the season, there are not the traffic jams and crowds of the main tourist centres; a great plus. Highly recommend.

Much bigger than expected. The owners were very friendly. Well set up for those with disabilities. Ramp into cottage. Wide doors. Accessible wet room with a bathing seat. King size bed. Good seating. Can't fault anything with the property.

  • "A beautiful accessible cottage close to Sedbergh."

Lily was lovely and helpful showing us around and explaining the various facilities. My partner is a wheelchair user and as such, accessibility was our main priority. The cottage didn't disappoint, wide doors and the open plan layout made our stay perfect. The weather was rotten but we felt warm and cosy with the under-floor heating. Will definitely visit again, highly recommended.

It is everything and more you could ever want for a stay away from home I had chosen to stay here as my husband is an amputee and the cottage had a wet room and was all on one level so was just perfect When we arrived we were met by the owner Lily who is a very friendly and charming lady. When she showed us into the cottage it was bigger than I had thought from seeing the photos with everything you could possibly want. A well equipped kitchen, comfortable sofa and chairs with a view over the hills you could just look at all day! The bedroom had a very comfortable super king size bed with plenty of storage for clothes. The wet room has a glorious shower with plentiful hot water and underfloor heating which was superb in drying the floor quickly This is an ideal location for exploring the Lake District as well as relaxing and just enjoying the surroundings that Lily and her husband Alan provides And added bonus of having their sheepdogs to pet

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
