  • "A beautiful accessible cottage close to Sedbergh."

Lily was lovely and helpful showing us around and explaining the various facilities. My partner is a wheelchair user and as such, accessibility was our main priority. The cottage didn't disappoint, wide doors and the open plan layout made our stay perfect. The weather was rotten but we felt warm and cosy with the under-floor heating. Will definitely visit again, highly recommended.

We loved the underfloor heating as we were there in November. The cottage was fully wheelchair-accessible. It was fascinating to be on the farm. Our hosts were very helpful, we can thoroughly recommend them!

To step into such ambience was a comforting and reassuring experience in a world full of haste. The owners, Alan and Lily were very welcoming and happy to chat, yet not intrusive .They made our stay. Knot Lodge was 4 star in every way. Every need was catered for. I found it to be truly wheelchair friendly and never encountered any difficulty. This holiday is a hidden gem!

Perfect location only 8 miles from the M6. Lake District (Windermere), Yorkshire Dales (Hawes) and Morecambe Bay all within an easy hours drive and for the ramblers England's highest cascade waterfall Cautley Spout, less than 2 miles from the cottage, provides some challenging walking.

  • "What an absolute gem I found when booking Knott Lodge."

It is everything and more you could ever want for a stay away from home I had chosen to stay here as my husband is an amputee and the cottage had a wet room and was all on one level so was just perfect When we arrived we were met by the owner Lily who is a very friendly and charming lady. When she showed us into the cottage it was bigger than I had thought from seeing the photos with everything you could possibly want. A well equipped kitchen, comfortable sofa and chairs with a view over the hills you could just look at all day! The bedroom had a very comfortable super king size bed with plenty of storage for clothes. The wet room has a glorious shower with plentiful hot water and underfloor heating which was superb in drying the floor quickly This is an ideal location for exploring the Lake District as well as relaxing and just enjoying the surroundings that Lily and her husband Alan provides And added bonus of having their sheepdogs to pet

The cottage is comfortable and has everything you need for two people. The large windows in the lounge allow you to enjoy tye beautiful view, and on the nice days there is a large terrace where you can sit and enjoy the surrounding area. The hosts Lily and Alan are amazing people and nothing is too much trouble for them. This is a lovely cottage for both able and disabled people to enjoy peace and tranquility. There are also lots of lovely places to visit not too far away. We hope to return next year.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
