The property

Settled in the heart of Hallbankgate is this pretty, semi-detached dwelling, Ashfold Cottage.

A marvellous and characterful setting for your next Cumbria adventure, Ashfold Cottage is perfect for a group of four and a furry friend, with links to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Lake District National Park.

There is one generous off-road parking space to the rear of the property, after parking up take some time to unwind to savour those lovely views of the Cumbrian Hills.

Make your way into an inviting sitting room, hosting a toasty woodburning stove and Smart TV to gather around with your loved ones; the room is also home to a selection of books for you to enjoy a captivating read in your free time.

Continue through to the spacious kitchen/diner, a room serving as a foodie's haven with all you need to create delicious meals, and bespoke wine storage.

On the ground-floor you can also find the family bathroom that has been fitted to a high standard and boasts a fabulous walk-in shower; whilst the utility room has a washer/dryer, for extra convenience.

When it's time for bed, make your way up the stairs to discover two delightsome bedrooms, one being a king-size with a convenient built-in wardrobe and brilliant views overlooking the rural vista; the other bedroom is a well-presented twin, perfect for the kids or extra friends.

Make your way into Hallbankgate to access your amenities, which are luckily less than a mile away; The Belted Will Inn is a popular spot to stop for a tasty lunch and a pint, whereas the Hallbankgate Hub is home to all your essentials for when you want to rustle up a meal at your home-from-home.

The village backs on to marvellous outdoors spaces, the RSPB Geltsdale and Talkin Tarn Country Park, ideal locations for a peaceful day out packed with angling and birdwatching!

The bustling town of Carlisle is brilliant for a day out with the family, stroll along the River Eden to discover the beautiful Carlisle Chinese/Italian Gardens, before making your way into town to tour the historic Carlisle Castle and the glorious, medieval cathedral.

Make your way to Penrith and learn of the area's history in the Penrith and Eden Museum, before wandering through the extensive Roundthorn woods to find the Penrith Beacon, or playing a game of golf at the nearby club.

Head further into the North Pennines AONB where you can discover the UNESCO Global Geopark's lush moors, climb the peak of Cold Fell and walk through the Hartside Pass whilst taking in the dramatic landscape.

Situated on the North Westerly edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the picturesque village of Hallbankgate. Once a former coal and lead mining settlement and home to the renowned Lord Carlisle's railway, Hallbankgate is now a lovely holiday destination, nestled amongst the unspoilt scenery of Cumbria with fascinating limestone quarries resting on its southern end. Named after Lord William Howard of Naworth castle, the traditional, 17th century pub of The Belted Will is highly rated amongst the locals and boasts friendly service and great food. Hallbankgate additionally hosts a handy supermarket, where holiday-goers can grab all of their essentials during their stay. The village backs onto the nature reserve of RSPB Geltsdale, where walkers and cyclists can wander through to their heart's content whilst spotting the Cumbrian wildlife. The Talkin Tarn Country Park is even closer to the village and is an extremely popular fishing and picnicking spot. Travel further afield to Lanercost, where history fans will be pleased to discover the stunning ruins of the once-glorious Lanercost Priory, before continuing on to the remains of Hadrian's Wall.
