  • "We had a lovely wknd at the property and couldn’t have asked for more from the house."

The house and facilities had everything ( apart from large communal tv) we would love to stay again in the summer and be able to enjoy the excellent outside area.

  • "We had a wonderful 80th birthday celebration with 19 family members."

The property was excellent more equipment than we needed, clean comfortable. There was a main entertainment/dining room which we made full use of and the individual suites which all led off from that area were themselves well equipped and self sufficient. Lovely area, the views from the upstairs lounge of the lake were beautiful. Hot tub an appreciated extra, also a BBQ which in better weather would be well used. Would highly recommend.

  • "We had a wonderful week at Wolfen Mill - 3 generations were there to celebrate 2 ‘big’ birthdays."

The hot tub was a huge hit with the middle generation and the garden and courtyard provided plenty of space for everyone else. It was perfect having a big area to all come together for meals and games but also have our own spaces for a little R & R when needed. Each apartment was very equipped and extremely comfortable. Michael and Marie were very quick to respond to any queries we had. We would love to return at some point.

It was a serene setting by the lake. The kitchen was perfect for our big group. The garden was well kept. We loved having the individual suites, which is quite unique nowadays. The hosts were also very accommodating with our requests. Probably the best place we've stayed at in the UK. Thanks again

  • "Had a lovely week."

The rooms worked perfectly for our group with the young adult children wanting to share and the parents getting their own space. Plenty of bathrooms for everyone. The communal dining area and kitchen area worked well. We found we tended to use the ovens and dishwashers in some of the downstairs rooms as well as the communal ones but that was fine. The courtyard area, hot tub and deck area by the lake were all lovely and well used by our group. We had a fantastic week (glorious weather) and I think it was probably the best house we have stayed in as a group in over 30 years. Thank you!

  • "We spent a wonderful weekend at the Wolfen Mill, is was truly a beautiful venue in a Idyllic setting."

A lovely space for families and friends to come together. Each room was unique and lovely, we did arrive during a UK snow storm so it was a little chilly the first night but we also found extra heaters that where supplied which we were most grateful for. The space was clean and tidy and everything seems to work well and was well maintained. I was initially slightly disappointed by the size of communial kitchen space, although every room had its own lovely little kitchen we had planned to cook in one space for the whole group and the kitchen was a little tight in space but still well equipped with everything you need and we managed just fine. Overall an absolutely beautiful venue would love to return and would highly recommend. Thank you for having us.

  • "We had a fantastic stay at Wolfen Mill."

The house is beautiful and set in picturesque surroundings. The rooms were big and very comfortable. We were a large group of family getting together for a special birthday and the house more than accommodated us however we didn’t really utilise the individual living spaces and wanted to convene together. The dining area was brilliant for this however the lounge area was a tad snug and had no TV. Being such a large group it was great being able to take yourself off to your own room and having that space. I would certainly recommend Wolfen Mill.

  • "When we arrived at Wolfen Mill, we were blown away by the whole place, the location, the studios, the grounds, and the hot tub of course."

The beds were all very comfortable, each studio had its own personality, ideally suited to our needs, two of us are dog owners so had downstairs apartments, the large dining room and kitchen were ample for our needs nineteen of us and two dogs, we spent most of our time in the communal areas and maybe didn't make full use of the fully self contained apartments with their own kitchenette. We met Michael, the owner, who was very warm and welcoming, he gave us a couple of places to visit in nearby Clitheroe and they were excellent, as well as the village of Chipping with its lovely little farm shop. The only thing that we didn't like, and we all agreed on this, is that our little break in Wolfen Mill had to come to an end, I/we would thoroughly recommend Michael and Marie's boutique destination for any large family/friends celebration for any occasion.

Each apartment was beautiful and very well equipped. The garden area was wonderful, a very large, pretty and well tended garden that was secure for both children and dogs and we enjoyed many hours being entertained by the children, enjoying the surroundings and using the hot tub. The whole house was spotless and Marie and Michael were very helpful but left us to enjoy the house in peace. And it is in one of the most beautiful areas of England but so quiet. Can't recommend it enough.

We are just so delighted that you all enjoyed a lovely family time together at our venue which we hold very dear to our hearts and love being able to provide comfortable accommodation in beautiful countryside. Stunning hidden location with lots of loverly walks and things to do in the area. Had two loverly meals out in Chipping only about one mile away at The Sun and Tillotson’s Arms, both with nice real ale available and reasonably priced. The accommodation is fantastic. There was nothing we would change. Our family ranged from 2 months to 85 yrs, one disabled and a dog, all accessible, even fish in the lake pleased my husband. Dressing gowns, towels, t-towels all supplied. Even hot tub towels. Everyone was catered for. The attention to detail is amazing and would love to be able to return one day. Everyone we met in the village were so helpful, and all the businesses recommended each other. The pub quiz was definitely a plus. If you are put off walking to the village, take the route to the left outside the property, small rise then just a slope all the way to the village, still a trek back up, but lovely quiet stroll. Our deposit to the landlady was returned promptly on our return. such a beautiful area. The Gibbon Bridge hotel a few miles out had fantastic food, service and amazing gardens, well worth a trip. Cannot recommend Wolfen Mill enough and would give 10 stars if we could.

The property

Wolfen Mill is a former water powered mill built in the 16th Century, set in one acre of fabulous grounds just a short distance from the Lancashire village of Chipping, an area renowned for its abundance of Gastro Pubs.

Historically the mill made spindles and bobbins for the local spinning mills, closing production in the 1920’s.

Completely renovated in 2018 the mill provides first class, award winning holiday accommodation, ideal for large groups looking to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful haven.

The dam or millrace provides a beautiful wildlife haven and the views 0f 'Parlick Pike' provide a great backdrop to this wonderful holiday retreat, sadly the old water wheel is no longer present.

Providing spacious accommodation, the top floor sitting room offers the centrepiece of the building, with bi-fold doors opening out onto the decked area overlooking the mill dam, a wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings and watch the sun go down.

The ground floor dining room provides a great place for the group to get together, enjoy a few early drinks on the adjoining patio and garden area whilst the ‘chefs’ start getting together their culinary delights in the commercial kitchen.

There are a further two kitchens available on this floor, one for each course perhaps or to allow a few more gourmet cooks their own working space.

All the bedrooms are set up as separate suites providing guests with their own personal sitting areas, luxurious bedroom, kitchen and modern ensuite bathroom.

Ideal for those wishing to spend a little time away from the main group to relax and unwind in their own luxurious space.

This outstanding property is a walker’s delight, surrounded by the stunning Bowland fells, the wildlife-rich landscapes and the Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You have plenty of entertainment such as an LG high definition Freeview LCD television, Amazon and Netflix and a DVD player. This wonderful property also caters for special events such as birthday celebrations, weddings and anniversaries to name but a few, with a dedicated dining room or marquee which can be set up in the courtyard. You can explore the picturesque villages of Longridge, Garstang, Whalley and Waddington nearby, hosting a variety of local shops, tea rooms, gastro pubs and restaurants. Enjoy a day trip to the Wild Boar Park, where you can feed and pet the animals or ramble along woodland paths.

The kids can enjoy a tractor ride, run wild in the adventure play area or explore the tunnels in the hay barn. Once you have explored the stunning landscapes of the Forest of Bowland by day, you can discover some of the darkest skies in England, an increasingly rare find in this crowded little country and a must do when visiting this region. There is so much to offer from this fantastic base, a unique experience in the Trough of Bowland!
