. only issue was the shower very difficult to control the temperature but owner did come to rectify this. Building work is going on next door, but this did not affect our holiday. Over all a lovely cottage in a quiet area and jacuzzi a great bonus.

  • "Cottege was nicely furnished, could have done with a bit more attention to detail, little things like a jug, teaspoons in the kitchen and information pack with instructions on how to use some of the equipment."

some areas needed a bit more cleaning. I think with should have been informed that there was some building work going on as the owner is building two more cottages next to the one we were renting. For two days we had men on the roof fitting slates so was very noisy when seating outside in the garden and there was no privacy when using the hot tub with the men working on the roof.

Steve was really helpful and answered several questions that we had and directed us easily to the cottage. It had everything we needed and Steve was always on hand for any problems or questions. The cottage is decorated nicely and all matched which was very appealing. Everywhere was spotless. Only downside was I felt guilty for not hoovering before we left - but there was no hoover in the cottage haha! Thanks again, Steve. Cannot wait to book again.

No hot water and heating on arrival, had to wait for owner to fix but he didn't ,went whole day and 2 nights without heating that made my sister cough all night. Had to fix boiler myself, on wrong setting. Then 2days later again no gas to cook by,no heating, had to wait 2hours for owner to come. Cottage described as private but no privacy when using hot tub,had to keep blinds drawn also.Workmen on site, No access to property due to ditch ,no warning signs. Cottage lacking in basic items ie scissors. Also had to buy pillows because of the feathers. No information given on how to use appliances, even DVD player, struggled to put hd lead into TV as it had been put on the wall. Alltogether very disappointing and stressfull experience.

Steve the owner was helpful and the provisions left for us on arrival were greatly appreciated. If I could improve one thing it would be the signage to be more visible at the entrance to the cottages, we drove right past the entrance as the sign has been set too far back. We foster children and had a teenager and baby with us and felt the cottage met all our needs for our short trip away. I am originally from this area so know it very well and we used public transport as well as our car to get out and about. There is a lot to do and see once over the river. We will return to Stalmine and I can recommend Cedar cottage.

The only thing we personally didn't like was that it had a breakfast bar to sit at and no table and chairs - but that's a small point. It's very central to many nice areas too including Garstang and a little seaside we had never heard of, Knott End, nearby had all the amenities you would want

About the location

Blackpool 9 miles; Morecambe 18 miles; Lancaster 22 miles.

The historic market town of Poulton-le-Fylde, within the Wyre Borough of Lancashire, is a charming place full of cobbled streets, unusual shops and ancient sights. Tour the town and its scenic surrounds on the three-mile long Poulton-le-Fylde Historic Trail, which sets off from River Wyre Hotel, a 19th century pub close to Skippool Creek, where smuggling was once rife. From here you wander past salad-growing fields and quaint cottages until you get to St Chad’s Church. In springtime the churchyard becomes a riot of colour thanks to carpets of purple, yellow and white crocuses. Traditionally agriculture was the main industry in the countryside surrounding Poulton-le-Fylde and records show that a market has been held in Market Square since at least 1348. This tradition continues to this day, with a farmers' market held every fourth Saturday. Poulton-le-Fylde has something to suit all tastes; visit Old Holly Farm and the Braedens Pony Trekking Centre, which make for great family days out. The Trough of Bowland is nearby, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, while the many varied delights of Blackpool and Morecambe, as well as the towns of Fleetwood, Cleveleys, Lancaster, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal and Windermere and the stunning Lake District National Park are all within easy reach, making this a great destination for everyone.
