Near enough to Hebden Bridge, which is a fantastic little town. (40 minute picturesque walk or 15 minute drive) Used as a base for walking. One of, if not the best property we have stayed in, in 10 years of this type of holiday.

The property was perfectly cleaned and had everything we needed. There are plenty of nice walks and lots of room in the hot tub so everyone can relax in the evening. The house is secluded and we had no issues in regards to surrounding neighbours late in the evening. There is also a pub 2 mins away and plenty of room for everyone to park their cars. Its a truly wonderful spot and we had a really amazing time. Its such a good price for what you get too and we will definitely be back!

  • "We stayed here as a party of 12 for the weekend to celebrate a birthday."

The cottage is simply beautiful and fulfilled our every need. The far reaching views and stream running along side makes it all the more appealing. The weather was typical February, cold and wet, even some snow but it really didn't matter, we had everything we needed at the Cottage. A few of the party did venture out for a few bracing walks and found May's shop over the hill,? worth a walk as we were advised it is the heart of the community. All the bedrooms are well equipped, very comfortable beds with plenty of storage for clothes, two family sized bathrooms upstairs and a large family shower room downstairs. The kitchen and dining area are a lovely social space, the snug is lovely and cosy for relaxing in, all with under floor heating. We didnt use either of the stoves as we were perfectly warm with the central heating. The owners had left us a welcome note with a bottle of red wine and a selection of local cheeses and crackers. Sally was great and kept in touch filling us in on the local roads as they had having bad weather before our stay. She also allowed us to arrive before the 4pm check in time and arranged for us to be able to check out at our convenience, all these touches making for a great stay. I would highly recommend this property and will hopefully be visiting again very soon

  • "Sally the owner of this property was very helpful."

It was the personal touches from the owner that went such a long way for us. We were met with a hand written note, offering their help should we need anything. They left local cheeses and wine for us. We took up the offer of an early check in as the house was empty before us. This was all very personal and much appreciated.

Sally messaged a few days in advanced and left us more additional and useful information. She also, very kindly, left a numbet of seasonal items which were very much appreciated. Our Grandchildren absolutely loved the Hot Tub. We would certainly recommend Colden Water as a holiday destination.

  • "The Lady who owns this wonderful retreat was brilliant, a few days before our stay she took great pains to get in touch personally which I thought was a lovely touch."

Her home was brilliant. It was just what we needed. However the Sykes cottage website specified that the cottage would be free to use from 4pm on our arrival day. The lovely owner texted me to say that the cottage was free from 9 am that day. If we had known that a few weeks before we would have altered our plans accordingly. Sadly it meant that we missed out on the best part of one days holiday. This however was a communication error on the Sykes website and not with Sally our the owner. We only stayed for Three days as we all had to go back to work. There was no option to book for 3-4 nights so we took it for a week. Sally's communication was great and u would definitely recommend her and her cottage to anyone.

Kitchen well equipped for cooking for 10 of us, better than usual standard. Hot tub an extra bonus and kids used it everyday. Enough space outside for daily games of football too. Nice area, but glad we rented an extra car as that made day trips much easier. Saying that, bus service wasn't bad at all. It was nice of the owner to text us before leaving so we had her number, and promising to send the keys we managed to forget..... Overall a very enjoyable holiday.

There is plenty of local walks and the cottage has all the walks and places to see in written material available. A must is the local shop Mays which is open 364 days a year and sells absolutely everything. The white lion in the village of Hamilton is a must for food and the bus stop is outside the cottage, so you can catch the bus there and into Hebden bridge which is lovely. • "We stayed at the cottage for a 40th birthday weekend from 16-18th March 2018."

The host was very helpful and made it very clear as to how to find the house, how to access it etc, and left us a lovely welcome package on arrival (wine and cheese always goes down well with us). The house was clean and very well equipped. The hot tub was fantastic, though did lose a bit of temperature as we lounged in it, though we put that down to the -8 air temperature more than anything else! There were 8 adults staying in the house, and we all fitted comfortably. It was great that the beds were fixed together in some of the rooms too. The pub nearby is wonderful, and for those of us who have little ones who we left behind for a couple of nights, it was amazing! Great beer 'proper' food and fantastic atmosphere. A place clearly loved by it's locals. We did drag ourselves away from the pub and hot tub for a little walk down the valley path, which was great fun in the mud and snow. We also had heavy snowfall on the Saturday night, which was great to watch from the hot tub (great that it was covered!) but on realisation that we might not get out of the hamlet on the Sunday our hosts were extremely accommodating, telling us we could stay for another night if it was going to be a no go. We did all manage to get out to relieve tired grandparents however. We would definitely recommend Colden Water, blizzards and all, and will definitely be back, but next time with the little ones who would love the sheep, ducks and streams.
