  • "The cottage overall was great, great location for walking and enjoying fabulous coniston water."

Only thing I would say is pillows could do with renewing as found them a bit flat. Everything you need is provided for and parking space provided was excellent. A bit hairy driving out perhaps a mirror to see down the road would be good. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and certainly on the list for a return!

thank you for taking time to write a review and we look forward to seeing you again at our cottage. Thank you for the feeback on the pillows which we replaced that weekend. Property Owner

We have stayed here many times and the view never ever gets old. Waking up to the beautiful lake view whilst sat in bed having a morning coffee is just perfect. The owner sue is always there to welcome us and is on hand if we need anything. It’s a lovely walk down to the village and the lake where there are plenty of places for food and drink . We will be back next year for sure .

The house was clean, warm, comfortable, and well equipped. We had mixed weather, and the house provided us with a cosy base for a lazy morning ,and to return to at the end of a day out in the hills. We enjoyed walking into Coniston village, and down to the lake,as well as a walk up Coniston Old Man.We also liked the close proximity to the Ship Inn which meant we could all go out for a meal without having to worry about driving! The house is in reasonable driving distance of many other popular areas. We visited Ambleside,Tarn Hows, Hawkshead, Grasmere, Elterwater and the Langdales during our stay. We would definitely return.

It’s great to be able to sit out and look over Coniston Water. Only thing it would be useful to have known before we went is that the outside space isn’t enclosed so our dog had to be on a lead whenever we went outside. It wouldn’t stop us booking again but it’s handy to know. Really useful having two spaces for parking and it’s a short walk into Coniston. Lots of other places are not far away by car either. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and really nice. The view from the bedroom is lovely to wake up to. Would definitely recommend and would visit again.

The beds have got to be some of the comfiest we have ever stayed in!! The luxury pillows and bedding was just lovely to sink into after a day of sightseeing or being at the lake. The kitchen was well equipped and having a spare utility room was brilliant. Rain or shine the views when you looked out of the cottage we’re stunning and just what we were after , but it would have been good to know that the patio section of the property was not attached or fully enclosed as we had to take the dog on a lead for a toilet break etc and didn’t want to bother the neighbours at 5 am with us crunching along the access driveway. Susan was always very quick to respond via email which was reassuring when booking and getting things packed for our stay. Thank you for having us!

  • "Beautifully decorated and comfortable - thanks."

Things that could make it better: 1. Individual information about the surrounding area and facilities rather than standard Lakes information e.g restaurants/pubs/cafes, walks, cycle routes, special events etc. 2. All knives in the kitchen need sharpening. 3. Blind in the bathroom does not give any privacy at night - although the property does not have anyone overlooking the rear, we shared our parking spaces with neighbours from number 1 as they were originally told they had 2 spaces, so people were outside at all times! Could then see anyone on the toilet or in the bathroom if the lights were on!! 4. When the shower was being used, smelly water and debris would gurgle up the bath plughole and leave sick-like residue in the bath. 5. Shower plug hole trap needs cleaning regularly - shower curtain tray started to fill with water so I checked and it was black and full of hair. I unblocked as best as I could and have a picture if you need it. 6. Days for bin collections and location of the recycling area may make people more likely to help out rather than just saying in the folder that it would be helpful for people to take the recycling into the village. We only found the location in the last couple of days so were unfortunately not prepared to move it all at the end when we were getting ready to come home. 7. Before booking, I asked Lakes Cottage Holidays if there was an enclosed garden as it was difficult to see from the photo or description and was told yes. This was disappointing and probably the only downside of the property as we had to take the dog out on his lead each evening and were not able to let him roam free when we sat on the patio. 8. The buttons on the extractor hob do not always latch into place first time and take a bit of wiggling and attempts to get it to work without standing and holding them in. 9. Some of the replacement drawer handles in the bedrooms come loose / off as the screws are not long enough to hold them. 10. Tin opener does not work. 11. Lights on the patio and one above the toilet in the shower room are starting to flicker on and off so may need replacing very soon. Other than these minor points (which I feel if I did not mention, you would not know about) the property was in the ideal location to explore Coniston and the surrounding areas and the view of the lake was amazing - we all miss it already. We made use of the washer, dryer and iron a few times which worked just fine and the cushions provided for the patio were very comfortable.

It would have been handy to know the patio was separate from the house with an access across it , as we had a dog which made it hard to enjoy the outdoor space and couldn’t leave the patio doors open in very warm weather in case he ran out .

  • "Overall the stay was very pleasant, the location was great."

We had great weather and there are so many great things to do in Coniston. We so enjoyed having family time together. The property was mainly as described. However I would not book again for the following reasons: - The mould in the single bedroom meant this room was un- useable. This was supposed to be my 10 month nephews room. However the room smelled so strongly of mould even after the window was open all day. He was moved into his parents room, which disrupted everyone’s sleep in the property and meant the stay was less restful than we were anticipating. Although the mould is not an easily solved problem there was recent growth which could have been cleaned before our stay and might have improved the situation. - I contacted the property owner about the mould half way through the stay, although I specified that we had moved round accordingly and did not want anything done about the mould as this would be further disruption. So they know for the future etc.. My email to date has not been responded to or acknowledged. When the owner has promptly responded to a previous couple of emails re check in. I find this unacceptable customer service, all that was required was to apologise, acknowledge it is a problem and ask if they could do anything to remedy it. To which I would have said no, just sort it our for the next booking. It leads me to consider if something was really wrong would we have received any response ? This is the main reason I would not rebook. We payed peak august prices £1100 for the week. - Additionally there were a few glitches in the kitchen the induction hob didn’t work effectively, the microwave was also glitchy and there were a few other bits of equipment that I would have expected to be there and weren’t. So although the property is set up for self catering. The reality was it took a lot longer to cook because of glitchy equipment. As I say overall a lovely stay, great location and overall this would be a great stay but I would not rebook because of the lack of response on the mould issue.

  • "Very nice cottage, which proved an excellent base for our holiday with 2 children (5 and 18 months) and one dog."

On the whole, everything was as advertised, and the patio was a bit roomier and with far lovelier views than expected. There are a few minor niggles that affected our stay. We found the induction hob to be rather temperamental: only two of the four rings would work, and we had to turn it off at the wall a few times. We also had to purchase a tin opener, as the one provided no longer works properly (not a big deal, but quite frustrating when you have two hungry children). We also didn't realise that the in-built oven was a microwave until the final day: there is an old instruction manual in the drawer for a Panasonic microwave, which led us to assume it had broken and not yet been replaced. The cottage is very clean and tidy, as a whole, although there is some black mould in the smaller upstairs bedroom in the corners around the bed. Overall, a lovely cottage and we had a great week exploring the area. The short walk to Coniston and the lake-front was a particular perk!

Alarm clock not needed! Lack of mugs and cutlery in general for five people resulting in endless washing up. Cups and saucers would be good too. No mixing bowls for food prep etc. Difficult for self catering. No trays for carrying drinks around. Or coasters in lounge to protect tables. Inadequate size bin in kitchen no bins in bedrooms for rubbish or recycling. Dining chairs too low to table unless you are six foot six tall. Deep Cushions needed. Small bedroom wardrobe does not have hanging rail. No hair dryer at property. Main bathroom has only hand held spray not over bath shower as implied. List of useful contact numbers bin days doctors early closing days etc would be useful. Considering this property is for five people it is barely adequately stocked unless permanently eating out for all meals. Lovely property well presented but spoilt by all above

Thank you for writing a review and we are pleased that you particularly like the quality and comfort of the cottage. But we are somewhat perplexed at the comments about the courtyard garden. There is in fact parking for 2 cars on the 'chippings' area adjacent to a lovely raised terrace with wooden table and bench and ample seating kept in a storage box on the patio itself. The property

Once part of an old mill dating back to 1800, now converted into four cottages with spectacular lake views, you will find Two Lake View in Coniston, overlooking Coniston Water in the Lake District.

Perfect for a family holiday to the lakes, for some fresh air and walking, this property will be an ideal base for all of your adventures.

The entrance porch is where you'll be kicking off those muddy boots and hanging up the waterproofs after a great day out in the open, before heading into the kitchen/diner to flick the kettle on.

Get a round of brews going for everyone while you are warmed by the underfloor heating as well as the woodburning stove that sits in the beautiful feature stone fireplace.

You can gather in the sitting room, which boasts beautiful views towards Coniston Water, and decide on a program on the TV with Freeview, or perhaps choose a favourite film to play on the DVD player, for a relaxing afternoon.

When it's time to head to bed, move upstairs to discover the three lovely bedrooms, a master king-size with a superb lake view, a second king-size room and a single room, all finished beautifully in earthy neutral hues of grey, cream and green.

Serving the bedrooms is a family bathroom hosting a bath with hand-held shower, basin and WC, as well as a shower room with shower, basin and WC.

To the outside you can enjoy a summer evening on the patio using the outdoor furniture as you watch the last of the sun fall on the lake.

If you don't feel like cooking in the evening, you can wander over to the local pub nearby and enjoy some delicious classic dishes, or head into the centre of Coniston where you'll find a bistro restaurant and a fish and chip shop, for whichever mood you're in.

For a fun activity, hire a boat from Coniston Boating Centre, where you can choose from motor boats, canoes, kayaks or even paddleboards to see the beautiful surroundings from the water.

With lovely footpaths and cycle routes around Coniston Water, you are further spoilt for choice of things to do, not mentioning the abundance of activities available in the entire Lake District.

Two Lake View is a delightful property to spend your lakeside retreat at in this beautiful part of the world.
