  • "We stayed at Underwood at beginning of July 2021."

We chose the house carefully as we needed ground floor accommodation with at least 2 en-suite bedrooms - one for my elderly Mum with mobility difficulties. It was perfect! Second bedroom with compact shower and toilet - so easy for someone with limited mobility as she could hang on to something at all times. She enjoyed having access to the Conservatory from her room (small step down). There is one heck of a slope to get to the house - but as you can park one car right outside the front door - my Mum managed fine. This isn't a chic modern, glossy place - more homely and charming. The photos are very accurate. But everywhere was clean, tidy and well maintained.

Thank you for the feedback, Helen & Allan Property Owner

  • "The cottage was a good size for 5 adults, infant and baby and had every facility we could think of, including the hot tub of which we made ample use, even though it would not have been a reason for choosing a place to stay."

We were impressed by the quality of everything. These were not owners who thought anything would do for their guests. The place had an air of being looked after and cared for and this made it feel more like a home. rather than holiday let.. Its location overlooking Coniston Lake is enviable and the view from the sitting room window stunning, enough to lift anyone's spirits even on the most inclement of days.

Very well equipped and ideally situated. Owners on hand if needed but not intrusive. If I had to find a criticism it would be that the whirlpool bath has been replaced with a shower. Hot tun fab. Would highly recommend this holiday cottage.

It was good that all the bedrooms were ensuite and that it was mostly on one level ,only the conservatory had steps .it was well equipped, very clean and comfortable . It would have been nice if the heating had been on for our arrival as it was cold that day but it did warm up when we lit the fire and boosted the central heating . Overall it was a good few days and I have no qualms about recommending this cottage .

  • "The cottage was far better than expected."

It' s location was excellent for many walks and only over a mile from Coniston lake. The cottage itself was decorated to a very high standard and had everything you may need including a jacuzzi, which was ideal after long walks. The cottage had a lovely feel to it and it certainly made us relax and settle into our holiday. Some may feel that an intermittent broadband would be a problem, but not for us that was part of the appeal to be away from all those emails. Besides BT wifi was available through their hotspot sites so if we did have withdrawals that was always an option. Though to be honest just looking out of the window at the stunning views was all that you needed. Helen and Alan the owners were very friendly and welcoming.
