The property

The gold standard in romantic getaways!

Located for total tranquility, yet within easy reach of all the Lakes has to offer, full of traditional character yet brimming with modern style and comfort, The Shippon At Mirefoot is real Lakelovers gem, and a perfect place for a magical Lakeland escape for a couple.

You'd really struggle to find a more romantic hideaway.

The secluded setting is deep in lovely Lakeland countryside on a private and historic estate boasting 3 acres of gorgeous garden grounds.

A peaceful wildlife pool and a leafy arboretum set the tone for a sumptuously relaxing stay. And the other pool on site is equally welcome; it's a 16m one in the luxury spa facility in the converted barn just yards from your doorstep!

Throw in a steam-room, sauna and gym, along with a massage and beauty treatment room, and you're really all set for a profound pampering!

And there's a private patio for sunbathing just outside your living area that's also partially covered in case of showers while you're working on that final piece of the relaxation jigsaw! Internally, The Shippon is thoughtfully designed with romance in mind, down to the generously proportioned and luxurious bath with 'tile vision' TV in the en-suite, and the equally decadent super king size bed.

Italianate stylings lend a sophisticated flavour to the living space, and the contemporary fittings offer everything you require for a comfortable stay. The Shippon At Mirefoot is an idyllically romantic hideout for two.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

Windermere 8 miles.

A historic market town with a fine reputation for shopping, Kendal nestles on the banks of the River Kent and is known as the Southern Gateway to the Lakes. Its old cobbled lanes and byways branch off the attractive main street, and the stone ruins of 12th century Kendal Castle sit perched on a hill with views over the town. Visit The Abbot Hall Art Gallery, its regular collection holding portraits by Kendal born George Romney and works by Turner and Ruskin, with other exhibitions through its links with the Tate. Both Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall with its superb Topiary Garden are nearby, as are limestone escarpments for easy walking, offering thrilling views of the Lakeland Mountains, the Howgills and Morecambe Bay. Kendal itself is ideally placed for exploring South Lakeland, the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. With other attractions such as Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life, the fascinating Quaker Tapestry, Lake Windermere and the wider National Park within easy reach, Kendal provides a superb base for a relaxing break.
