  • "Please refer to email sent directly to holiday park - the accommodation was absolutely brilliant, a credit to the owners and very comfortable."

Everything we needed for the week and more was available., very clean and in top quality condition. The site was staffed with incompetent “teenagers” that could not or did not want to help. - shop was so poor and badly staffed we purchased all daily essentials from shell garage locally. Shop had no stock of milk or bread and staff standard answer to “when will you have some in”was “don’t know!!” Bins were absolutely heaving with detritus spilling out onto roadway overnight every night, (rat heaven) and wooden fencing around the bins was splintered and damaged - dangerous condition. Contractors on site did not adhere to speed limit on site especially 32 tonne lorries and large transit size vans, which arrived each day around 07:45! - an accident waiting to happen. Lots of dogs on site which is great……. Try emptying the waste bin adjacent to the lake more than once a week….. absolutely heaving with excrement all week from when we arrived and the smell was delightful in the heat of summer especially in an area where families gather. - finally emptied (as it was overflowing) on the Friday. Roadway (one way system) was blocked by contractors vehicles three times during our stay and we were forced to reverse against the incoming park traffic at the entrance against the one way system. Also the entrance barriers blocked on one side (two way road) all week by tractor and two mobile homes forcing incoming and outgoing traffic head to head through barriers. Not managed by the park. Safety of guests seems to be quite an afterthought. Accuracy, cleanliness, comfort ,facilities/maintenance stars and how likely are you to recommend refers only to the holiday home NOT the park in general as standards are a world apart. Please do publish this but I suspect you will not!! Thankfully we went out daily and got away from these issues. Please do feel free to call me to discuss any of the above issues. I’m sure with my health and safety background I could offer some quick fixes!!

Well equipped kitchen with plates, cutlery etc. Very well kept and nice interior perfect for a small family and dog. Like previous reviews would recommend taking a fan if weather is hot as you get sun for most the day and evening which makes the lodge very warm at times. But this is not fault of the owner. • "The property is ideally located within beautiful surroundings, felt very homely and nice comfortable living room to just chill in if you feel like having a lazy day when it’s a rainy one!"

The only SLIGHTLY negative feedback would be that some of the plates and kitchen items/ underneath the chopping board weren’t clean and still had food or food stains that hadn’t been washed off properly from previous stays. The shower head also came loose and hit me on the head while I was showering but this is nobody’s fault just a bit of general wear and tear that needs fixing. Will definitely be back again and would like to think we will use the property on a regular basis in the future especially in the summer months! Came for a few days for our honeymoon as we got married in the lakes in the days previously and was just what we were looking for! Dog friendly; the dogs were worn out from all the beautiful walks! Over all a really lovely stay thank you!

Thank you for your feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your stay. The shower bar holder has now been replaced and were sorry this came loose during your visit. We do rely on our guests to wash any pots etc they have used during their stay and our cleaner does do spot checks to ensure this happens so sorry if some items were missed on this occasion. Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry the mattress was too firm for you and hope it didn't spoil your stay. The site Wi-Fi like most hotels and leisure facilities is unsecured so use for any finance activity is not recommended. We had problems connecting onto the internet. Wi-Fi was non existent, and that was the main reason I booked that cabin, as it stated good Wi-Fi connection. I contacted sykes cottages, but the problem was not rectified, which was very annoying, as it was a working holiday. We left a day early as it was impossible send emails

Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry you were disappointed with your stay. The WiFi is provided by the site and out of our control I'm afraid. They are currently in the process of changing providers which we understand is causing a lack of connectivity currently. There is a note about the poor WiFi in the Sykes listing as well as in our Welcome Email where we advise guests take their own mobile dongle . We do all we can to ensure our guests have a comfortable stay in our lodge and I'm sorry we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Eileen and Graham Jones (Owners) Property Owner

  • "Listing stated Sky tv(standard package), this was not the case, suggest this is changed."

Listing stated parking for 2 cars, this could be achieved dependant on where the neighbouring cavavan occupants parked. Listed as sleeps 4, which it does have beds for 4, however only suited to 2 adults & 2 kids, not 4 adults. Location on Windermere Lake was disappointing, as most of the bay was locked off from use by the boats moored on the jetties.

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay at our lodge and we're disappointed you didn't find the lodge was suitable for you. With reference to the Sky package, the listing does say basic package however, we appreciate this can be misleading and may not meet all guests expectations so we've requested this be removed from the listing. There is adequate parking for 2 cars, one behind the other rather than side by side. The lodge has one double bedroom and one twin room. In the twin room the single beds are larger than a standard single so are suitable for adults as well as children. We accommodate many bookings for 4 adults over the season and receive very positive feedback on the comfort of the beds so we're sorry if on this occasion you didn't feel the lodge met your needs. Unfortunately, we have no control over site activity and although our lodge is only a short walk from the site Marina if it was closed off during your stay I'm really sorry you missed out on this during your visit. • "The Lodge was very nice, very comfortable and well equipped."

The quality of the furniture and fittings is of a high standard. The Lodge is handily situated on the site , easy to locate and is well positioned to capture the sun for best part of the day. We enjoyed visiting the local areas of Ambleside, Grasmere and Windermere all within a short distance of the Lodge. One general comment regarding our recent holidays is the fact owners leave only the bare minimum of things like washing up liquid, kitchen rolls and toilet rolls. It’s not a complaint as such but we have had to purchase our own supplies to see us through our recent holidays. Maybe it’s a point that can be brought to someone’s attention.

Lacked a few basics like hand-soap and a hair dryer but these are not mentioned in the description so can't complain just remember to bring your own if going. • "Although this was a pet-friendly property, we don't have a dog and there were a rather alarming amount of long black pet hairs everywhere, behind doors, beneath wardrobe etc."

and we couldn't seem to avoid them. This will put us off choosing a pet-friendly property again, even if it's the only thing available. On the plus side, this was a fantastic location to explore the Lake District and the lodge was very well equipped to serve as a self-catering property. The boys enjoyed Treetop Nets at Brockhole and we all enjoyed the Lakeside Aquarium, Lakeland Motor Museum and the local towns of Grasmere, Ambleside and Keswick are great for shopping. The Sykes App is very good and I liked the countdown to our holiday. I also used the "nearby" to research places to visit whilst we were there.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your time at the holiday and we have fed this back to our cleaners. We take great pride in our property and stayed in the property 2 weeks prior to your arrival and found no dog hairs. Property Owner

The wifi for us was pretty bad. We had lots of clouds and rain so not sure if that contributed to the poor wifi signal. I brought along an Amazon stick but there was no way you could watch a film. YouTube also was very poor. Most people don't need wifi when in the Lake District which is fine, but we needed it for my son who has specific needs.
