The property

2 Crooke Hall Barn is a first-floor, two-storey apartment located in the village of Crooke, Lancashire.

Part of a renovated farm house just opposite Crooke Marina along the Leeds Liverpool canal, the property welcomes a group of family of six to stay in a characterful abode for their self-catering holiday.

Arrive in the off-road parking space to unload your bags and climb the stairs to your home-from-home.

Step inside the beautifully-renovated kitchen/living room where contemporary meets character; high ceilings with exposed beams lie overhead, whilst you utilise the excellent amenities throughout your stay, including a double electric oven, grill and hob, washing machine and dishwasher.

Unwind in the living area with a dark feature wall that adds elegance to the space, where two plush sofas invite you to kick back and watch the Smart TV with Sky.

Follow the stairs up to the mezzanine area for a quirky setting amongst the beams and overlooking the kitchen to enjoy a hearty breakfast and plan the day's adventures.

You'll find a sumptuous bubble bath upon your return in the p-shaped bath in the stylish bathroom to wash the day away, before catching your rest in one of three bedrooms.

The first floor hosts a double and a twin, whilst the mezzanine king-size bedroom overlooks the living area for a unique stay under the rustic wooden beams.

During the summer months, start your day in the front garden with a charming patio area to savour your morning coffee.

Venture out into Crooke village to stroll along the Leeds Liverpool Canal, stop for a drink at Crooke Hall Inn overlooking the canal or explore The National Trust's Standish Lower Ground Woodland; a handy convenience store in the neighbouring village of Standish Lower Ground provides all the essentials needed for your stay!

To the north, Standish is home to a variety of quirky shops, excellent places to eat with contemporary restaurants, bars microbreweries, as well as traditional pubs; meaning there's no need to venture far to enjoy a good meal out.

Other nearby villages include Shevington and Appley Bridge; test your swing at Gathurst Golf Club, whilst Appley Bridge is home to a variety of traditional pubs to take a break from the kitchen, as well as Fir Tree Fishery and the nearby Fairy Glen along Sprodley Brook for magical woodland walks.

Take a short drive into the larger town of Wigan for a selection of museums to while the day away, find a picnic spot in Mesnes Park, or why not head to Wigan Roller Rink for a fun-filled evening?

From 2 Crooke Hall Barn, you'll also have easy access to Southport for a day by the sea, courtesy of the Gathurst train station, which also offers trains to Manchester, as well as the vibrant city of Liverpool; wander along the Royal Albert Dock and stop off at Tate Liverpool, marvel at the city's two cathedrals, and choose from a variety of restaurants and bars to finish the day.

A short drive away is the renowned Robin Park Retail Shopping Centre, for when you want to enjoy an afternoon of retail therapy, whilst the DW Stadium is also close by, accessed via a short walk along the canal or drive; ideal for when you want to enjoy a match with the family!

Haigh Hall Country Park is a scenic drive away and offers a municipal golf course, crazy golf, as well as a range of beautiful cafes and a pub; and, of course, stunning walks throughout the huge woodland area.
