  • "We booked Crooklands due to the location and proximity for golf courses and it was perfect in that respect."

The positives are it is cosy and warm (logs provided), dedicated parking, great shower, lovely riverside setting and has wifi. Sadly the cottage did not meet our usual expectations as it felt unloved, tired and some basic things we would have expected were missing or broken, with a little bit of attention the cottage could be much more appealing and we would have considered rebooking due to location. We normally thoroughly clean anywhere we have stayed prior to leaving as well as during our stay, but no cleaning products were provided and the hoover was broken - as was the tumble drier. The small tv could do with an upgrade as it is just basic channels only. There is a lovely log fire but no matches, no bin bags, no dishcloth (found 2 yellowed pre used ones at the back of the cupboard - yuck), no cleaning products, no welcome pack, no games provided. The front door was dirty and covered in spiders nests, my husband swept it all- these things only take a couple of minutes. Several items of cooking equipment were unclean and needed washing prior to using. The main issue is the bedroom walls (curtains and lamps) had significant black mould - again we would have cleaned but no products provided - a dehumidifier would help? It’s a shame, with some love and attention, a thorough deep clean, a paint refresh and a few touches it could be really lovely.

The only small suggestion concerns the bathroom as it would have helped to to have more areas to hang towels/clothes whilst showering and to have more storage for wash bags etc.

. the apartment was clean and well equipped. Location was good and area quiet. Our children liked the stream at the back and the pub down the road may be appealing to some. All in all a great week in a comfortable apartment.

  • "Fantastic little flat, in a great position to visit lots of tourist attractions."

It is clean and comfortable and like a home from home, with everything you would need for cooking, baking, washing, ironing etc. There is a lovely wood burner in the lounge, we didn't get to use this as weather was good and flat was nice and warm. It has a great secure outdoor space at the front for sitting outside in the sun with space for kids or pets and has a fantastic shower room, which could do with a little touch up only because of the condensation. The only area we didn't use was the sitting area beside the river as access down to this is wooden steps and there were lots of midge's. I would definitely recommend this flat for staying and we would definitely return again.

Arrived at Crosslands at 15.00 as per Sykes documentation for earliest arrival. Let ourselves in.All looked great. A cleaner arrived on the doorstep telling us we can not gain entry till 17.00?? Showed him my documentation and was then involved in a conversation to his office to confirm our arrival time. This conversation should not have been held in front of a Sykes client. Positive points about location and property. Everything. Right on the river. Lovely sound of running water. Small decking at the rear above the river. Field at bottom of lanre to let your 4 legged friend off for a run. Apartment was very clean and bigger than two of us needed. Ideal for four. The log burner was a God send at night. Logs readily available outside in store. Dave who lives over the lane gave us firelighters and a lighter to start the fire. Thanks Dave. We found it easy to travel around from the property. Lovel bakers just up the road. Had a great six days weather wise. Would definitely go again. Thank you

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Crooklands House apartment 3."

It was very comfortable and there was everything there we needed. Unfortunately we did have a problem with the heating. The radiators didn't come on when they were supposed to. We rang the site manager, she sent someone to look at the boiler settings. He came twice but didn't solve the problem. We decided to use the log burner because we were feeling cold. We found it quite difficult to get going. The logs were stored in a container outside. There was nothing to put them in, so it meant we had to go out a number of times to get more logs. If the problems were sorted out, I would recommend the apartment as a lovely place to stay.

We were glad no one was upstairs as looking through the feedback book some had found it too noisy . We were lucky I think as both apartments upstairs were empty. Could do with a couple of diffusers. Stale smell where place had been shut up which didnt go for a few days. Otherwise no complaints. Quiet, peaceful for us. Good value.

So many places are within easy reach of the place. You have Lancaster, Morecambe, Barrow, the Lakes, all to the West, but coming to the East you have the Yorkshire Dales it's a perfect location.

  • "We really enjoyed this rental."

It had everything we needed. The beds were supremely comfortable and the shower was good. Shame the bathroom window doesn't open. The location is great for visiting the Lake District. We felt near enough to everything we were looking for. It was also just a few minutes off the M6 so easy driving. There was a nice walk along the canal very near, and it's not far to Windermere. We were planning water sports activities there so really handy. We had a good Sunday carvery in the Crooklands hotel. We liked the garden and patio. There isn't a barbecue but we used a disposable one which was fine. It wasn't far to a supermarket (Asda) although we scheduled a delivery to turn up just after we arrived to save the hassle. We felt this rental was well priced considering the time of year, facilities and location. We'd definitely stay here again if we wanted to visit the area.

The kitchen has absolutely every piece of equipment necessary to cook your own meals and the wetroom shower was excellent. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the whole apartment was exceptionally clean. Good TV and WiFi were also appreciated. The local hotel is very nice and welcoming and the local petrol station is close by. The apartment is really handy for the M6 and we spent a lovely week touring the Lake District and Yorkshire.
