the weather was changeable but the cottage remained warm and part of the enjoyment was looking forward to going back there and relaxing. we booked this cottage and the area as we'd never been there. after i booked it i started to do some family research and by sheer co-incidence found that my great x5 grandmother was baptised in the tiny church next door to the cottage in 1775! the area itself is good for walking and plenty of outstanding scenery. we were also lucky to co-incide with the Appleby Horse Fair. so many horses and gypsy caravans at the sides of the roads, a rare sight.
