"We have stayed in many Sykes Cottages but The Old Bell Works has been the best yet."
It is well presented and in excellent condition inside and out. The beds are comfortable with cosy matress toppers and crisp white sheets. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for self-catering. Lots of channels on the TV, good WiFi reception, and selection of games available. Covered hot-tub and outdoor seating was great, even in the rain. The owners go the extra mile with small details and clearly care that you have a perfect holiday. Plenty of attractions for all ages within a 20-30 min drive. Highly recommended.

"The owners of Old Bell Works really went above and beyond to provide everything we could possibly need, in one of the most gorgeous and well equipped places we've ever seen."
This cottage oozes with love and attention to detail, down to the little felt mice that are placed around various nooks and crannies for you to find while exploring the decor. Not a single thing was out of place or anything other than immaculate. The hot tub was hot and ready to jump in as soon as we arrived which we absolutely did, and didn't miss a single day without spending some time in it. Paula & Brian have done an amazing job and completely allowed us our privacy, just checking in via message to make sure we had everything we needed. Thanks you both for the great trip, and we would love to return again in the future!

"I rented this fabulous cottage to escape the the hustle and bustle of life."
. and i was not disappointed… on arrival we had a lit log burner going cosy lights the cottage was warm and welcoming after a 12 hour drive. Fresh milk and juice and a whole hamper full of goodies to get us through breakfast was a doddle. The cottage its self was outstandingly beautiful immaculately clean and to say it was comfortable was an understatement.. with added perks a wonderful garden beautifully lit up at night and an amazing hot tub. The owners them selfs went above and beyond to ensure we had all we needed for our stay plenty of information on things to do around the area.. we took full advantage of the cottage and stayed in a couple of days it was just perfect i can not wait to re book i would 1000% recomend this little gem to any one. My party consisted of a wheelchair user a 6 month old baby teenagers and young adults and of course im about middle age (

"Absolutely beautiful cottage with the most amazing attention to detail, the extra touches are just phenomenal."
This was our second stay and it was just as wonderful as the first! We had birthday banners set up and little birthday touches for my little girl and the welcome hamper was a wonderful treat. The cottage is just so comfy, cosy, stylish … they have literally thought of everything possible to make this a totally amazing place to have a holiday. The kitchen is very well equipped, the furnishings super comfy, beds and linen are amazing, fluffy towels, lovely toiletries, robes, sliders for going to the hot tub, dog blankets, log fire … it’s utterly amazing!!! There are also so many gorgeous personal touches dotted throughout the cottage too which made us all smile - look out for the brilliant felt mice

You can tell the owners put their heart and soul into the conversion. Lovely welcome basket, and the owners on hand if needed. Bi-fold doors lead onto a huge enclosed garden with fabulous outdoor seating area and hot tub. Will definitely be back!

The little extras that aren’t listed, TV’s in the bedrooms, toiletries in the bathrooms. Bathrobes/towels/shoes for use in hot tub Towels/blankets for the dogs. Hamper in kitchen with selection of little goodies. Milk, Orange, Wine in the fridge. Owners live next door but you wouldn’t know, but if you needed them they were there in a flash. Lovely quiet village. Perfect garden with great covered hot tub area. I would give it a 4 star plus.

Has everything you will need and more. The garden is huge and fully enclosed which is perfect for dogs. There are also multiple seating areas in the garden to accommodate meals, chilling in the hot tub, or sitting under the tree at the bottom. Owners are wonderful as they are next door so if there is anything you need, they are there very quickly. The interior design is really good and throughout your stay you will keep seeing little touches that will make you smile. Log fire was toasty and you can buy extra wood too from the owners who will bring it to your door. On arrival you get a welcome hamper that is one of the most thoughtful and impressive ones that I have ever seen. All in all this property is 10 out of 10 and I can highly recommend. "The cottage is perfect in every way, beautiful and comfortable."
In fact the nicest cottage we have ever stopped in over many years. Ideal for a lovely holiday. The owners were accessible and helpful and friendly. There was only one downside for us. The hot tub wasn't available immediately and the temperature was set too low. It was set at 36 and rarely got above 35. The hot tub is the most important part of our holiday to relax, as we have very physical jobs. and we like to enjoy it at least once daily.
Thank you for your lovely comment Julie. Unfortunately, because the hot tub has to be changed after each guest, it can only reach temperature by early the following morning. The temperature is set at a recommended 37 degrees and reaches this every time. Although, when being used over the recommended 15-30 minutes and the lid open, will inevitably drop slightly, which is out of our hands. It is a quality hot tub, so soon gets back up to temperature. Quaint little village, enjoyed that the accommodation was set back from the road and it felt really private even with properties nearby. The inside was flawless. Spacious bedrooms, great facilities like TV, kitchen, living room space etc. Enjoyed little touches like the bath robes and sliders for the hot tub. And the hot tub itself was fantastic - appreciated that it was somewhat enclosed, kept its heat well etc. Overall, really enjoyed our time here and may well come back in future - thanks very much for having us!

"This cottage is beautiful - very spacious but still with a cosy and welcoming feel."
It's extremely tidy & clean with lots of lovely added extras (including things like sliders for use by the hot tub, dressing gowns etc.) We had a great stay there in November and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a retreat (only slight downside was part of the garden had flooded but understand this was being fixed after our stay). It's in a great location though with many nice nature reserves/national parks within a quick driving distance. Hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating too.

"Quite simply one of the best holiday rentals we have been in."
It was furnished to an excellent standard and had every piece of equipment you would need. Welcome pack was a lovely touch. The addition of the hot tub was very welcome and a lovely place to relax. The most beautiful cottage with everything we could possibly need to enjoy our stay. I went with my mum, my daughter her partner and my granddaughter Olive and also our two schnauzers! Jess and Ash loved the hot tub, I loved everything but especially the luxurious bedding on my super king size bed, the dogs loved the enormous fully enclosed garden! Such a gem of a find especially with a downstairs bedroom and shower room so ideal for a range of ages ( like us from a 1 year old to 86 year old! ) Perfect location for access to the lakes and the coast too. I would recommend to anyone, perfect hosts with an immaculate property thank you so much.

PILLING
Lancaster; Blackpool 15 miles; Morecambe 15 miles; Kendal 33 miles.
Pilling is a small, peaceful village within the borough of Wyre in Lancashire, only six miles northeast of Poulton-le-Fylde and three miles from Knott End-on-Sea. This ancient settlement was founded on what was essentially an island, with the sea on one side and marsh on the others. In 1808, Pilling Windmill was built, operating up until the 1940’s and restored to its former glory in 2007. In addition, Pilling has a country pub serving food and drinks, as well as takeaway facilities. Nearby, Knott End-on-Sea has a range of shops and restaurants located across the Wyre Estuary from Fleetwood. As well as a variety of shops, restaurants and cafes, Knott End-on-Sea has its own pub, The Bourne Arms, and an 18-hole golf course, which welcomes visitors. Buses run regularly from Knott End to Blackpool, and Lancaster, and there is also a seasonal, three-minute ferry crossing to Fleetwood. Just over six miles away, the historic market town of Poulton-le-Fylde is a charming place full of cobbled streets, unusual shops and ancient sights. Traditionally, agriculture was the main industry in the area and records show that a market has been held in Poulton-Le-Fylde since at least 1348. This tradition continues to this day, with a farmers' market held every fourth Saturday. The area has something to suit all tastes; there are country and beach walks suitable for all abilities, with Pilling and Morecambe Bay being very popular with birdwatchers. The Trough of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is nearby, with walks to suit all abilities, while the many varied delights of Blackpool and Morecambe are easy to reach. Don’t forget to explore the towns of Lytham St Annes, Cleveleys, Kirkby Lonsdale, Kendal and Windermere, which together with the stunning Lake District National Park, make this a great holiday destination for everyone!
