  • "A lovely little property with everything you need for a comfortable stay."

    The bed was particularly “ dreamy” & no need to count the sheep( of which there is an idyllic moving tableau right outside the windows) to drift off! Hosts Carol & Simon are delightful & most respectful of your privacy but on hand to help if required. We brought along our 4 year old Labrador(Laddie) & ,as with us “ humans”,he too qualified for a “ Welcome Basket”, which was a lovely touch. Loads of local information provided in a well curated file ,which was invaluable when planning days out. Would highly recommend anyone to book a stay here.

    It was lovely to meet all 3 of you and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay so much. Many of our guests mention the comfort of our Hypnos bed so delighted you were so comfortable as well. Hope to see you again in the future! Property Owner

  • "We had a great break at Shepherds View, the accommodation was excellent , owners had thought of everything we could need."

    Super king bed was super comfy and Wi-Fi strong. Location great to walk local Dufton Pike and to explore Eden side. The local Stag Inn only 100 m away great food , lovely people. We would definitely return to finish the walks we missed and the fact we loved the property too! Thank you C & S for making it stress free holiday .

  • "Very comfy, very well equipped and very clean."

    There has clearly been a lot of work and thought gone into creating the cottage and offering a great experience - lots of lovely little touches. Great position on the edge of the village with lovely views from the main window (especially good if there is a nice sunset). Friendly owners, readily available to help and actually we saw them a few times as the properties are very close and cars are parked together. Worth noting car parking is a bit tight. Lovely welcome basket with tasty goodies. Very pretty, well kept garden and whilst enclosed, it is not accessible from the house. Also no dog poo or wee allowed in the garden which we weren't aware of until we got there and meant there wasn't anywhere we could let our dog loose. Great to be able to walk to the village cafe and the local pub (the pizza van parked outside on a Monday does great wood fired pizzas).

    Glad you enjoyed your stay with us. It's lovely to know you enjoyed the little touches and the comfort of the property, as well as the views from the feature window which are indeed stunning. Thank you for the points your raise. I think it is important to mention that you booked the day before your stay in the late evening and so all the information we send out did not go out until the morning of your arrival. There are very clear details of the property on our web-site which we directed you to in this information, and we are very clear about our doggy rules including where you can take your dog for its toilet whilst on our property. There are good reasons why we don't allow dog owner's to use the property's ornamental garden for their dog's toilet as it would soon become a yellow patchwork of dead grass. This is why we don't permit it, as much for our guests without dogs. We have no issue for you to use the garden to sit in and enjoy the space with your dog off lead at other times. There is plenty of space to let your dog off the lead in the drive just outside the door, a large village green and a woodland walk close by (to name but a few), but if you prefer to let you dog out unsupervised then our property won't suit you. We don't allow our own dog to do this for the same reason. Access to the village is along very narrow roads. The car park spaces we have marked are fuller sized spaces (9.5ft wide) and there is a turning circle also, but it will be tighter for an extra large SUV as you had. Property Owner

  • "What a luxurious property!"

    The lovely owners have thought of everything to make sure you have a relaxing and comfortable stay. We loved that the fire was set ready to light, neverending hot water to enjoy the jacuzzi bath, cozy towels and robes. Thanks to the thoughtfully provided Scrabble dictionary we had a very competitive game! We also really enjoyed the guides shared for local walks. Thank you so much for our relaxing holiday x

  • "Dufton is a lovely location with lots of walks within the vicinity, and within easy driving distance of other towns in the area."

    The cottage itself is just beautiful- really well equipped with lots of thoughtful touches by the owners Carole and Simon for both us and our dog (he loved the dog bed so much I think we'll need to get him a similar one!). We loved our stay at Shepherd's View and would love to visit again.

  • "We’ve stayed in numerous holiday cottages, this is by far the most comfortable and well-considered."

    Everything is of the highest standard! The cottage is well appointed for walking in a quiet village, with amazing views. Owners Carole & Simon have thought of everything and are very friendly and helpful. The information book in the cottage was extremely helpful. The local pub did great food and a good place to have a good beer! Highly recommended and would stay again, and recommend to others.

  • "This was our first time to this area of the lakes and it didn't disappoint!"

    Dufton is quaint with a central green and a pub which had great food by the way, we particularly enjoyed the quiz night (Thursday). The accommodation is excellent, everything has been thought of along with a lovely welcome basket of food. You can see that Shepherds View Is loved by the owners Carole & Simon. We stayed 5 nights, lots to see and do in the area from walks from SV to trips out, all the information you’ll need has been carefully put together by the owners in a book inside the cottage, this we found most helpful. We would highly recommend.

  • "A fabulous barn conversion in a pretty village with outstanding views across the countryside."

    Our accommodation was very comfortable with all mod cons. The owners were very generous in supplying a welcome hamper with local produce. They were there to welcome us and give advice on the local area. An added bonus was the sole use of a small enclosed garden which was secure for our dog. A perfect location for walks, hikes, running and relaxing.
