"The owners are so kind."
The place was absolutely amazing with great views. It was tastefully decorated and the spaces are huge - the main living area with a fire place and the kitchen with a fire place. The master bedroom was absolutely stunning and bath rooms are again very well equipped. I wouldn't hesitate to book there again. We all feel very lucky to have been able to stay at such a beautiful place. Thank you.

"Cherry Tree cottage was wonderful, had everything you could possibly need."
The views from the cottage was amazing and had a lovely garden. The welcome pack was very much appreciated. We had a great holiday and Moss the border collie enjoyed all the lovely walks.
-

-

No issues at all. We will most assuredly be back
-
"I have never stayed in a cleaner rental accommodation, it was immaculate."
The cottage was much bigger than expected, two rooms with a television which was very handy with kids. The master bedroom was enormous as was the family bathroom Beautiful views from bedrooms, living room and kitchen. I cannot find any faults with Cherry Tree cottage and would recommend to friends in a heartbeat
-
"Lovely, spacious cottage with beautiful, dog safe garden."
Spotlessly clean and really friendly, helpful hosts next door. Great location for beaches and Lake District National Park. Would definitely recommend staying here and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you for a great week.
-
"We had a fantastic stay at Cherry Tree cottage and can’t fault the property at all."
Spacious, beautiful decor with everything you would ever need whilst away. Amazing views across the estuary and a great garden for the kids and dog to run around in. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back. Angie and Guy were really friendly and provided a brilliant welcome basket of goodies, even taking into account our sons dairy intolerance.
-
"Angie and guy are fab hosts."
Very clean and comfortable, the cottage is beautiful beds are out of this world , we will be back
-
"We loved staying at Cherry Tree Cottage."
The house and gardens are beautiful and extremely well equipped. The surrounding area is lovely with lots to do. The owners are very friendly. Would definitely return. Suggest window locks at least upstairs, for child safety. Thanks for a lovely break.
-
"A real gem!"
The property itself, exceeded expectations and was absolutely stunning. The owners were on hand for anything, but also gave you complete privacy - they went above and beyond. The house is well situated for days out to the area and we will definitely be back.
-
"The cottage was immaculate and we came into log fires burning, Lovely."
A real home away from home. The host Angela was so helpful and kind. She provided a high chair and lovely wooden cot for baby, some hand wash and some lovely treats for dogs (and poo bags). We had young children so it was lovely to walk from the house through the small hamlet of 'The Green'. We said hello to all the animals- horses and spring lambs and then watched the train go by at the walkover crossing. Soft play and swimming a 30 ish min drive away. Lovely, thank you.
-
"A lovely, very spacious house with fantastic views."
A good location to access both the coast and the national park. The owners are very friendly and on hand if you need anything but also respect your privacy. We would love to return.
-
"A beautiful cottage with everything needed for your stay."
So homely and comfortable Situated well for trips out into the lake district. Cosy kitchen, vast lounge area and 3 great bedrooms, the master is huge, also ensuite, with amazing views across the hills and surrounding area. Beautiful large bathroom with shower and bath. There is everything to hand including guides and leaflets and local maps. The owners are lovely and friendly and nothing is too much bother. Kitchen and lounge both have wood burners, which makes it that bit more special. I would definitely have another break at Cherry Tree cottage.
-
"Such an amazing property, spacious and welcoming and the owners Angie and Guy are wonderful."
Would highly recommend this property.
-
"Cherry Tree cottage is a perfect place to escape to."
The cottage had every convenience thought of. The rooms are huge but welcoming. Angie and Guy were extremely friendly and helpful but not intrusive at all. We can’t praise it highly enough!!
-
"Fantastic property with beautiful views."
Exceptional facilities with very comfortable beds and everything you could ever need. Angie and Guy the owners cater for all your needs and go above and beyond to make your holiday a memorable occasion. Can't recommend this accommodation enough.
-
"This is a fantastic property and was in the ideal location for all we wished to see and do in the Lake District."
The owners left a welcome basket of "goodies" for our arrival, which is a nice touch and Angie was very helpful with any queries or advice we sought on the local area. We would certainly recommend this property (and location) to anyone looking for a comfortable relaxing break.
-
"Great place to stay no complaints."
We had a minor issue with the shower but I’m sure it was user error. When both showers where on occasionally one shower would stop working but other that perfect Home away from home. The owners being so close by was handy as well being from the city, we’re not overly familiar with open fires… there’s definitely an art to it. The owners provided a full suite of activities to keep us occupied and we didn’t stop all week. Thankyou!
-
"One of the best places we have ever stayed Great views comfy quarters very quiet 3 miles to the sea Good walks All mod cons ."
........A+

"My family and I had a fantastic stay."
It was a lovely cottage in a fantastic location with the perfect mix of charm, features and space with lovely modern touches. The owners welcomed us upon our arrival and were absolutely lovely. We would love to return to the wonderful cottage.
-
"A lovely spacious cottage with plenty of room for all the family and spotlessly clean."
The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. Great attention to detail especially in the welcome pack which included wine for the grownups and treats for the children and the dog. We were very comfortable and all enjoyed our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage.
-
"Just came back from a lovely week at Cherry Tree cottage."
The cottage is one of the best we have stayed in and very well equipped. The views from the cottage are stunning and can be enjoyed from a lovely garden. We spent lovely days out at Windermere and the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, along with numerous walks and cycle trails. The quarry walk just a short drive from the cottage was a great find. The owners Angie and Guy were always there for any questions and made us feel really welcome. We wouldn’t hesitate in booking this cottage in the future.
-
"The initial thought when entering the property is that there is clearly room for more than 6 people."
Only having six people means you get the whole benefit of the spacious rooms and garden, with gorgeous views grin every room. A very relaxing week long holiday with the main tourist spots of the Lake District all easily visited within an hour drive. The pub down the road does great food with a lovely little park and playing field next to it where we played a family game of cricket.
-
"I've been staying in cottages for around 20 years."
This, without a doubt is the best property that I have ever stayed in. The owners were very generous with the disposable items that they provided, i.e. toilet paper, hand wash etc... and the kitchen was one of the best I've ever seen in terms of pots, pans etc... In previous properties it's been hard to cook a meal for 4 people with what has been provided whereas here it was easy. A great array of classic video games (PS3), board and jigsaws were perfect for the rainy days and the amount of pamphlets for the local area were more than any service station I've visited. This is genuinely the first property that was rated with 5 stars that truly deserved it. In terms of the property itself, beautifully decorated, very spacious with a lovely garden and a beautiful view.
-
"We loved our stay at Cherry tree cottage!"
Angie and Guy are fantastic hosts, the place was spotlessly clean and we would definitely stay there again!
-
"A fantastic holiday home with a massive wow factor."
Spotlessly clean and with owners who really wanted to ensure your stay was perfect. And the views were absolutely stunning
-
"For a 2nd year we had an amazing week in Millom, Cumbria staying at 1 Cherry Tree Cottage."
The Cottage was, as before, spotlessly clean and the owners, who live next door, are lovely - very friendly and helpful. The views from the property are simply stunning and it is just so peaceful there. Our two grandchildren just love the garden and the huge space to be free to run around. There is also easy access to boating on Coniston, walks, steam train trip and a Castle to explore. There is a pub a five minute walk away with excellent food and Millom is only a 10 minute drive with cafes, pubs and a nice Italian restaurant. We had such a lovely time on both occasions and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
-
"A very spacious, clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage."
The welcome basket on arrival (including treats for our dog) was much appreciated. We had the benefit of great weather, so were fully able to enjoy the sights of the Lake District and the lovely view from the cottage. Sitting on the swing seat in the back garden taking in the view was a wonderful way to start and end each day.
-
"This is an ideal cottage for anyone wishing to explore the NW coast, the Western Lakes or the area to the South around Ulverston and that’s exactly why we chose it."
Good rail links from Millom will take you up the coast or a short car journey will get you to Coniston. The roads while we were staying werent busy so we avoided the usual traffic jams associated with Grasmere or Ambleside. Hodbarrow RSPB site is just a couple of miles away by car and is an interesting coastal walk. The owners who live next door are very helpful and left a generous basket of goodies for us including Easter chocolates. They’re on hand to offer advice re places to visit. I’ve given 5 stars for cleanliness for other properties we’ve stayed in but this was literally sparkling and it’s really well equipped. The views from the huge sitting room and equally huge main bedroom were beautiful and an additional bonus. We very much enjoyed our visit.
-
"Well, what a wonderful cottage!"
Amazing views, so much space inside and out, we are a family of six. The cleanliness of the property has to be mentioned, it was pristine. Cherry Tree Cottage is a ideal base, the gardens are perfect on a warmer day, so you don't need to leave. Nearby are two different beaches, one with a great play-area/ assault course and one long sandy beach. We had a couple of days out within half an hour drive, safari park etc, then further afield (within an hour) we visited Lake Windermere to have a boat trip and visit a castle. Hosts Angie and Guy are very helpful and are on hand if you need anything. All round we had a perfect stay - Thank you
-
"The property way exceeded our expectations, the tranquility and views of the house were amazing, the nearest supermarket was only a 5minute drive away and there were plenty of leaflets in the property for us to plan our days out."
The only slight improvement that I would highlight is that for a family of 6 the fridge freezer was to small and therefore had to do a couple of shops instead of 1 big one. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone
-
"Just returned from a wonderful 1 week stay at 1 cherry tree cottage."
As others have said it's a beautiful cottage with fantastic views and lovely friendly hosts living next door.Angie even came round to show us how to light the fire properly as ours kept going out :-). With the house being just off a main road there are no paths to walk the dog from the house itself but the garden is big enough to let them run around which our cockapoo loved. As a base for exploring the South lakes you could not wish for a better accommodation or for more friendly hosts. We used an app called All Trails which showed us plenty of walks near by and Haverigg beach is fantastic to walk the dog as its huge when the tide goes out. We would highly recommend 1 Cherry Tree to anyone thinking of stopping in this area. Although we didn't get the weather to sit outside in the rear garden, it would be a fantastic spot on a warm night to take in those spectacular views.
-
"Our family stayed at Cherry Tree for one week from the 25th of Feb."
We had such a warm welcome from the owners and the house did not disappoint. The view is fantastic. There is everything you could need or want for a comfortable self catering holiday. The linen is amazing as are the showers. We were very lucky with the weather and did both beach and lake walks. A visit to Cartmel for the sweet shop alone is worth it. The local pub ‘The Punch Bowl Inn’ does fantastic food with all credit to the owner. It has a great feeling of community and the perfect way to end the day if you don’t feel like cooking. We can’t wait to go back. Didn’t want to leave.
-
"Wonderful weeks stay at 1 Cherry tree cottage despite the wild and wet weather."
The cottage is a beautiful home which has everthing you would need for a home away from home. All top quality furnishings and equipment with 2 lovely log burners to keep us warm. Will definately be looking to go back. Top notch and great hosts.
-
"Beautiful property set in beautiful surroundings."
Spacious, clean, comfortable &homely, much better than the pictures.
-
"A lovely cosy cottage."
Super large and comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. We would have liked clearer instructions on how to find it as it was not easy in the dark on a very busy road (e.g distance from traffic lights/pub).Also some local information on shops pubs etc in the area would be helpful as we shopped at Tesco and found the wonderful local shops in Broughton on our last day and would have preferred to support local businesses. We loved the wood burners and found the large rooms perfect for a gathering and enjoyed the stunning views.
-
"Absolutely fabulous property and hosts."
House was spotless and everything just as advertised and even better than the photos. The two log burners were alight when we arrived and there was also a great surprise of a welcome basket with some nice treats. Cannot praise the house and our hosts enough. The local pub was great and also the two pubs in Broughton we would highly recommend. We definitely hope to return
-
"This was a lovely place to stay in an area well worth exploring."
Friendly, helpful owners next door, great views across the estuary, beautiful garden, and a variety of walks (fells, woodland, coastal path, beach 15 mins drive). Station within walking distance of the house if you want to leave the car behind.
-
"A delightful cottage in a beautiful setting."
-
"I’m only sorry I’m late writing this review but life gets busy right!"
!! Absolute gem of a find, very clean indeed. The views on the back of the house are amazing especially while having a glass or two. You need a car to get anywhere but that’s the Lakes for you, you must drive and experience the beauty we have here in the UK. The hosts Angie & Guy are just lovely & nothing is too much for them. We loved our stay here.
-
"We have just had a wonderful week at Cherry Tree Cottage!"
A lovely welcome pack which catered for the adults, children and even the dog was a lovely surprise. The cottage was absolutely spotless and so spacious. The Green is a great base to get out and about. We visited Haverigg beach, Go Ape at Grizedale, took the steam train and boat to Bowness, Lakeland zoo and had the tastiest ice cream at the Cumbrian Cow. Can’t wait to go back.
-
"Lovely holiday cottage in idyllic surroundings, fantastic views of the hills."
Well equipped and spotless. Nice having both main lounge (which has big windows looking to the garden) and the den, cosy for watching TV at night or playing games in. Playstation and board games a hit with ten year old! Kitchen had all we needed and great place to sit and eat whilst looking at the scenery, welcome basket very thoughtful too with hot chocolate stirrers as well as adult drinks. Beautiful home and we would stay again!
-
"1 Cherry Tree Cottage is a stunning property."
It has excellent garden and outdoor space with spectacular views which can also be enjoyed from the amazing wide windows in the lounge and main bedroom within the Cottage, The property and grounds are very well maintained and in a really beautiful location close to beaches, walks and lakes. In the evening we could sit and relax outside on the garden swing. Our hosts, Angie and Guy made our stay stress free and relaxed. They were both very kind, friendly and helpful and did their very best to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Our family had a really lovely week at their Cottage and we intend to book again for 2023. Highly recommend.
-
"Cherry tree cottage was truly beautiful."
Everything was immaculately presented and clean. Extremely spacious. We had 6 people in our party and there was ample room to stay out of each other’s way ! The gardens and are amazing. Angie the host was lovely and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely book again. Everyone in our party loved it, including my dog. Thank you x
-
"Beautiful cottage which is extremely well fitted out, spotlessly clean and a truly lovely place to stay."
Hosts Angie and Guy were super helpful with excellent communications. Would highly recommend and hope to be back.
-
"This is a lovely cottage, so spacious with great facilities and immaculately clean."
For all it is a big property with big rooms, it is furnished in such a way that it feels extremely warm, comfortable and homely. The view from the large windows in the living room and bedroom mean you feel connected with the surrounding countryside and the comfortable window seats provide great spots to enjoy it. The swing seat in the garden is also a lovely place to relax. We really enjoyed our week here.
-
"A fantastic house and setting - Even with storms raging we managed to have so many great days and walks out avoiding the wind and rain somehow."
House had fires lit on our arrival and the house was toasty warm. Lovely welcome pack is always appreciated after a long drive too. The House is huge and I loved sitting and reading in the window seat with the amazing views to the bay. We cannot recommend enough for those thinking of visiting this wonderful cottage.
-
"First Class!"
This is a beautiful house with excellent facilities. The listing says it all. Upon arrival, the 2 wood burners were fired up and very welcoming. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. The owners are happy to help with any questions. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much.
-
"The house was perfect!"
As a family of four, we could not ask for anything better from a holiday cottage. Clean, homely and wonderfully comfortable. The perfect Lake District retreat.
-
"Prior to the visit we were contacted and asked about the requirements and provided helpful information and suggestions for the stay."
On arrival, the fireplaces were lit, the house was warm. As it was a Christmas break the each and every room in the house was decorated with festive details with a fully decorated tree. Great proximity for most attractions, we even did a trip to Hadrian's wall in Carlisle (2 hr drive). Lovely Beach close by. Very helpful owners. Thank you.
-
"Honestly the most beautiful property, better than the pictures!"
I spent the weekend here with my family and we were blown away by the property and the service. The cottage is enormous and has more than enough room for 6 people! I get the impression that had you been on a different rental website they could have stated that this property sleeps 10+ people, which makes it feel all the more luxurious. The owners were waiting for us on the drive, as it is quite difficult to find, and all the fires had been lit so that it was lovely and cosy when we came in from the cold. There was a wonderful welcome hamper for us and a little one for the dog too. They provided useful information for our stay. The facilities were great and to be honest, my Mum did not want to leave. A truly wonderful location for a family weekend away!
-
"Superb house."
Everything you could possible need and very comfortable. Very clean, with very comfortable beds and very well equipped. Lovely owners and brilliant communication. Would highly recommend.
-
"Super comfy and well equipped cottage with excellent, secure, dog friendly garden and stunning views."
Owners couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming
-
"Fantastic place to stay for our wet week in the Lakes!"
So much space! The house was impeccably clean and host was very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. Will not hesitate on rebooking when we return to the area in the future.
-
"A beautiful house and gorgeous garden."
Every facility you need is there and very spacious and comfortable. The owners are very helpful and welcoming. A lovely peaceful area of the Lake District and a great cottage to stay in.
-
"Fabulous house, wonderful views and lovely owners."
Easy to get all tourist spots. Would be happy to return.
-
"Everything in the property was exceptional ."
The owners were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them.I would not hesitate in recommending this property. Only issue we had was the fencing in keeping an inquisitive large dog confined to the property garden. But that's the dog owner's responsibility in keeping an eye on their pet I suppose. A bbq would have been nice. The local pub was disappointing, don't bother. However it's a good location for getting to lots of places of interest. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
-
"The cottage was realky lovely and it is huge!"
It has amazing views, plenty of parking space and was very clean. The owners were very kind and helpful in advance of and during our stay. Hadn't realised there was a downstairs toilet which was a bonus too. Only downsides was the bottom of the garden wasn't fully enclosed and the dishwasher wasn't very big (very minor gripe). It's in a good spot to explore West Lakes and great to have beaches so close but there aren't any pavements in the immediate area so not much scope for a safe evening stroll.
-
"The spaciousness of the property made our stay feel very luxurious."
The owners, who live next door were exceptionally welcoming, always available to help without being intrusive. The property was very clean and well supplied, even down to a spare battery for the kitchen scales. The views were beaultiful and calming, and ofcourse the area is quiet, with plenty to do nearby.
-
"Fantastic cottage, easily the best we have stayed in."
Cottage was spotlessly clean and you could smell the cleanliness on opening the front door. Welcome pack was a lovely surprise and we opened the wine for a drink on the patio to look at the fantastic views almost immediately. The garden was a great place for the dog to run free and play with her welcome present ,a ball. The hosts live next door and do not interfere at all but are on hand to help and answer any questions if needed. The cottage was easily big enough for our family of 5 and the dog,and although it looks big in the photographs, is much bigger. Altogether a fantastic holiday in a lovely cottage with the best views you could ask for.
-
"The cottage was beautiful, spotless and very spacious."
It had everything a family of 6 and a dog would need! The owners were very accommodating and the garden and views were beautiful!
-
"Fabulous holiday, in a spacious comfortable cottage, with lovely hosts living just next door who could not have been more welcoming and obliging!"
We also had brilliant weather, we felt very lucky and blessed.
-
"Had a wonderful time at Cherry Tree Cottage, fantastic views across the Duddon Estuary and a wonderful base for relaxing and also easy access to both the coast and inland attractions."
The hosts were wonderful, all the items in the cottage were of a very high standard, with plenty of space and we hope to return at a later date. The only possible minor improvement would be to change the very low step into the second bedroom to a slope to avoid a trip hazard for elderly visitors. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage.
-
"Wonderful from start to finish."
Angie and Guy tremendous hosts always on hand if required, nice touch with welcome pack would certainly recomend.
-
"Cherry Tree cottage is the most beautiful cottage with outstanding views."
It is a very warm, welcoming cottage with absolutely everything you would need for a self catering holiday and more, best ever, with thoughtful additions. Our late arrival was instant relaxation, opening the door to warmth of the woodburners, thank you Guy and Angie. Look out for the squirrels, woodpecker, beaches, sand dunes, Lakes are all close by too.
-
"The House was very much a tardis, spotlessly clean, and probably the best holiday home we have hired."
Views were wonderful. The time of year and weather prevented full use of the garden which was beautiful. Very much best of all was the owners, helpful and very friendly.
-
"1 Cherry Tree cottage was even better than the photos."
the location is ideal as all the major tourist spots in the lakes are within an hours drive. But its remote enough to feel the relaxation of the countryside and there are great views from the outdoor space and particularly the bedrooms, which are like something off a postcard. The house itself is spacious with lots of separate areas so everyone can have their own space and the decor perfectly in keeping with the cottage theme. We arrived to a lovely roaring fire and a really thoughtful welcome basket and messages on the blackboard, which set the tone for our visit. The owner was lovely and could not have been more helpful. Overall, a perfect cottage in a perfect part of the world. Highly recommend it and would love to stay there again :)
-
"Our stay at Cherry Tree Cottage was wonderful!"
The views are absolutely beautiful, perfect to sit out and have a cuppa in the morning. The cottage itself was extremely clean, equipped with everything you need and very cosy with the open fire. Perfect size for a group and a dog! Angie and Guy were brilliant to deal with and went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. Would definitely recommend!

About the location
MILLOM, CUMBRIA
Broughton-in-Furness 7.4 miles; Ambleside 23.8 miles
This small coastal town on the southern edges of the Lake District National Park frames the northern shores of the estuary leading to the River Duddon. Millom Museum offers an insight to its past, with a reconstruction of a drift mine lending a nod to its iron and steel works. There is also a statue in the town centre, commemorating the iron industry, depicting 'The Scutcher' who stopped the iron ore tubs with and iron bar and his own strength. This town was also home to writer Norman Nicholson, who has a stained glass window in St. George's Church dedicated to his memory, while the strange 'fish' window in the Holy Trinity Church is also worth a visit. Discover the remains of Millom Castle and travel to nearby Haverigg, with its Blue Flag beach, a restored lighthouse and children's adventure play areas, for the ideal family day out. Also find the 7 tonne sculpture ‘Escape to Light’ positioned near to the Haverigg Inshore Rescue station, constructed by Josefina de Vasconcellos to pay tribute to the Inshore Rescue Teams in the UK. Other attractions in the region include the South Lakes Safari Zoo, Black Combe for walks with stunning views and Sandscale Haws, a National Nature Reserve with an outstanding dune habitat supporting a plethora of wildlife. Further afield are the delightful towns and villages of the Lakes District such as Grizedale, Ambleside and Windermere, not forgetting the abundant walking and cycling opportunities in the area. Enjoy an adventurous break in Cumbria.
