The property

River Cottage is a pretty terraced cottage with a garden running down to the River Eamont and centrally located between Ullswater and bustling Penrith with its shops, bars and restaurants, the gateway to the North Lakes. This character cottage with original beams and exposed stone walls is a light and airy cost-effective getaway destination for a couple and their dog who want to be able to explore the Lake District in comfort at any time of the year. River Cottage has a village location, but as you walk in from the outside you'll step into a lovely and character-filled room with a large feature fireplace, gas fire and exposed stone wall.

There's comfortable seating and picture windows plus a TV.

Through to the light-filled conservatory, where you can dine looking out over the garden to the river, to the fully equipped modern kitchen.

Upstairs there's a lovely light and airy super king size bedroom, and the wet room with shower, washbasin and WC completes the accommodation. Outside there's off road parking for 1 car at the side of the property and then a patio with garden furniture at the rear.

The lawn leads right down to the river's edge and the views towards the old stone bridge. The pretty little village of Eamont Bridge has not one but two ancient stone henges, King Arthur's Round Table and Mayburgh Henge.

Nearby Yanwath Hall is reputed to be the finest manorial hall in the entire country.

There's also a pub within a few minutes' walk of the cottage. Just minutes from the A6 and M6, the lively town of Penrith is virtually on the doorstep with its shops, bars, restaurants, swimming pool and cinema.

For lovers of the Lakes, Ullswater is a short drive away and there are riverside walks easily accessible from River Cottage.

If you're keen to explore the best of the North Lakes and the Cumbrian coast beyond, River Cottage is a comfortable and cosy cottage where you can recharge your batteries with an inexpensive Lakeland break throughout the year

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £150.

About the location

PENRITH

Keswick 17 miles; Carlisle 20 miles.

The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, enjoys a central position between the Lake District, the Westmoorland Dales and North Pennines and is ideally placed for taking in all that the region has to offer. Renowned for its wealth of specialist shops, the sandstone buildings of Penrith hide intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive cottages, gardens and little shops. With a wide choice of excellent pubs, hotels, restaurants and entertainment, Penrith also offers a museum, and Millennium Trails round the historic city streets. Within easy reach of the town is Rheged – an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema screen showing educational and informative films. Brougham Castle, Brougham Hall (The Windsor of the North), Lowther Castle and Gardens, Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England) and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away, as is the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
