“The property was perfect, excellent location in Windermere and all the facilities we needed with a 5 year old and a dog.”

We will definitely book this property again in the future.

The property

Ideally located in the centre of Windermere village, with a host of convenient amenities on the doorstep, is the charming cottage-style apartment, Laburnum Cottage.

This all-ground-floor property offers homely accommodation for a small family or couple wanting to explore the Lake District, with contemporary decor perfectly balanced by stunning traditional-style features.

Entering into the property, the spacious hallway has hanging and storage space for your coats and shoes, from here, the cosy living/dining room offers lots of seating with a choice between two sofas, one a sofa bed and the other a large L-shape, with lovely mock-beams on the ceiling, a feature fireplace complete with electric fire to fill the room with warmth, a wall mounted TV to entertain you and a dining table with seating for four, where you can gather together to enjoy a family meal.

The stylish, high-quality kitchen has modern units and wooden worktops, with a large Belfast sink and all the appliances you could need to conjure up delicious meals during your stay, with a small dining table for two, should you wish to dine in this room instead; there is even underfloor heating in this room to add to the homely feel of the property.

The property has two bedrooms, a king-size (zip/link) and a twin, which would be ideal for children, both rooms are styled with neutral tones, are spacious and have lots of storage provided, while the master bedroom has a wonderful dressing area and dressing table, where you can get ready in style.

The bathroom features a double walk-in shower, beautifully tiled grey walls and a heated towel rail and underfloor heating, completing the layout of the property.

Outside there is off-road parking and an enclosed patio garden with furniture, surrounded by a stone wall, so you can enjoy the privacy of this relaxing space, while pets or children can run around safely.

Windermere village centre is on your doorstep, with pubs, bars, cafés, a supermarket, post office and lots of shops to explore, while the famous lake is less than a mile away, offering watersports activities that can be organised at the outdoor adventure centre, or simply enjoy a picturesque lakeside stroll and a picnic.

Keen walkers can enjoy ambling around Queens Park, climbing Queen Adelaide's Hill and walking the 3.5 mile route from Windermere to Orrest Head, where you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Lake Windermere from the summit.

Visit Windermere Jetty, a museum of boats, steam and stories, all about the great lake, and be sure to discover the 19th century Victorian neo-gothic Wray Castle, owned by the National Trust.

Venturing slightly further afield, the town of Ambleside is less than five miles away, where you can enjoy more spectacular walks around Loughrigg Fell and Rydal Water, where you will see Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount, both former homes of famous poet William Wordsworth.

The market town of Kendal is well worth a visit; filled with grey limestone buildings, which fittingly contributed to its nickname 'Auld Grey Town', you will find plenty of arts and culture, with live music, art and theatre as well as several museums to enjoy, including the Museum of Lakeland life & Industry, along with its own Medieval castle ruins and the Manor House & Gardens of stunning Elizabethan Levens Hall.

With so much opportunity and adventure right from your doorstep, Laburnum Cottage is the ideal location for your next Lakeland escape.
