  • "Cottage was just as described."

It was a wonderful base for our Lake District adventure. We hadn't realised how close to all the town's amenities we were, the cottage was well tucked away but a stone's throw from all the shops. There was a bar just down the road and we didn't hear any noise from there at all.

  • "The cottage is lovely & right on the doorstep of all amenities, plus all fixtures and fittings are of a very high standard, the beds and sofa are so comfy and the whole cottage is tastefully decorated."

The only downside of the cottage is the parking, the listing should state if you have a 4x4 or long car or suv you will not be able to park outside the cottage, I nearly got stuck and witnessed two other people getting stuck during our stay. Also random people park outside the cottage so even if you have a small car don’t bank on getting a space. We ended up paying £34 for the week to park in the local car park which is a 5-10 mins walk away. This did not spoil to break for us but if you are protective over your vehicle and don’t want to park it streets away this could be the deal breaker for you.

Thank you for your review, we're really happy you enjoyed your stay and found the cottage to be comfortable and close to all amenities. In regards to the parking I understand your concern and we take all comments seriously. It is clearly stated in the listing summary that parking for longer vehicles would be difficult. The welcome book explains the parking bays in front are for public use and can be used by the cottage if this is preferred, if not it also details alternative parking options local to the cottage I'm glad this didn't affect your stay and we hope to welcome you back to Laburnum Cottage in the future. • "The parking for Laburnham Cottage is really tight!"

If you have a big car (4x4) you would find it very difficult to turn into the parking area. Also, random cars appear in the parking bays for this cottage so we had to park quite a few streets away on a couple of occasions as there was no roomfor our car.

  • "Fabulous place, very close to all local amenities right in the centre of Windermere with a 1 1/4 walk to Bowness-on-Windermere."

Parking is very tight as you are parking within a very small back street and we had a large 4 x 4. Having said that once we parked up we didn’t use the car for 5 days walked and caught the local buses wherever we wanted to go. The cottage catered for everything and was very warm and comfortable, we could have done with one or two more plates or serving bowls but that is just a minor thing as everything else supplied was of a very high standard. Definitely planning to go back.

  • "Very comfortable cottage right in the heart of Windermere."

So close to the shops, bars and restaurants but very quiet location tucked away behind the main street. The house was beautifully decorated and was perfect for our weekend stay. Would definitely visit again.

  • "The cottage was very nice, apart from it being quite dark inside and when we were in the cottage we had to have the lights on all the time."

The large glass radiator in the lounge did not work and neither did the larger rectangle one in the master bedroom. We didn't realise from the description of the front of the cottage the space in front is actually car parking spaces and also the difficulty of getting out and round into beech road. This put us off going out more because it was such a tight squeeze. The instructions we received gave us the impression a dish washer was in the kitchen and also a DVD player we could use Neither were there. The TV only had limited channels and not even all the Freeview ones were there.

  • "Whiat travelling we receivef a phone call from a lady called Sharon checking that we were still on our way."

This was reassuring in view of the ever changing COVID-19 situation. She was happy for us to contact her should we have any issues at the cottage. On arrival at the cottage we were impressed with the lovely fresh scented smell as we opened up. The cottage is comfortable, cosy and tastefully decorated. It has everything you need for self catering. Beds are extremely comfortable. The cottage is well situated in the heart of Windermere town. Shops, restaurants and bars are easily accessed and in walking distance. Parking at the cottage is a challenge but don't let it put you off. Highly recommend a stay at Laburnum Cottage.

  • "The standard of furnishings and décor in the cottage was excellent throughout."

Very good location. Plenty of hot water. And the actual heating was fantastic. The parking outside the cottage was very congested and extremely tite. You needed to do a 10 point turn to park and exit the courtyard. Having a large vehicle we ended up parking on the public car park which cost us around £30 for the week. It was only a five minute walk away. Would recommend the cottage to anyone but explain the parking situation. On the first night of our arrival we saw a large stain on the carpet near to the bathroom. We took photos and rang your company first thing the following morning. We were told that the cleaner stated it was definitely not there when she left. I'm sorry but that was not true. We spotted it straight away on our arrival into the property. Upon arriving home we were contacted by the cleaner who also accused us of hiding some damage that she thought our dog had done. This was also not true. Our dog has never chewed anything in his life and I would certainly not hide damage which I took as a insult. You can publish this feedback but please leave off the stain and the alleged damage. I don't want to put anyone off renting the cottage as it was really nice. Thank you David.
