  • "Perfectly situated dog friendly cottage, the enclosed garden was a definite bonus."

We had no trouble parking and there were enough walks from the doorstep that we didn’t have to use the car for the week. The local bars and restaurants we fabulous. A very dog friendly area. We loved the cottage, very nicely decorated, warm and welcoming. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

  • "First impressions weren’t good, the front door, which is accessed directly from the street, had rubbish all outside of it."

On entering the property it was disappointing to see that although there was a Christmas tree it looked like it had been literally taken out of the box and shoved on the corner! It is one that has lights already on it but that was it not a bauble in sight!! There is a really nice log burner in the comfortable lounge but no logs, again disappointing as in our experience normally an initial basket is supplied. There was no welcome pack not even a pint of milk, again even in these covid times, our experience is that normally at the very least there would be milk in the fridge and more often than not a bottle of wine and a cake!! There were absolutely no basics in the cupboards not even a kitchen roll! Having said all of that the cottage is fairly well equipped, the inside clean and very comfortable and is really central to town where there are loads of places to eat and drink. There’s a Booths supermarket at the back of the house and lots of lovely walks that can be done without using the car.

  • "Cottage is in a great location for exploring what Windermere has to offer."

Parking was limited. We decided to leave the car parked up for the week as we didn’t want the issue of finding a space, however, everything we wanted to do was on the doorstep which was great. The walk to Bowness is nice, just a mile down the road. The cottage was lovely, had everything we needed. A few cobwebs in places which were noticeable so these had been missed. We had a very comfortable stay.

  • "The cottage is well converted and very clean."

The equipment was easy to use. It is in a good position in Windermere for easy access to shops and restaurants. There is an excellent walk up to Orrest Head from the cottage. The parking is tight at times but managed well all week. The only irritation was that it is apparently company policy to only put one toilet roll in each bathroom, which seemed odd given the quality of the hand wash and the provision of dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc. However, we really enjoyed our stay at Myrtle cottage and would highly recommend it.

Myrtle cottage is a lovely home from home and well kitted out , yes the stairs are steep but that’s the age of the building A better tv in the lounge room would be a good addition - especially during a time when there is probably more time being spent indoors with the pandemic

  • "The cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable."

Little touches like dog treats and tea/coffee were very welcome. The only disappointment was the exterior. First impressions were disappointing due to the front flower bed being overrun with huge weeds, and the back garden was smaller than expected. However, the presentation of the interior made up for it.

Thank you for your lovely feedback. The gardens have been attended to since you visited. Property Owner

  • "When we arrived we found 3 bags of rubbish in back garden."

I intended to phone Sykes the following morning, but was pleased to find a voicemail from your rep, saying they had inspected the property on the morning of our planned arrival , found the rubbish and wanted to call in that day to deal with it. Whilst it would have been better for it to have been prevented, I was nevertheless pleased to get the proactive call from your rep - a big well done to her for doing this and for dealing professionally with us.
