  • "Brilliant location with walks from the doorstep."

Robert the caretaker was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The beck is really small so no worries regarding kids or soggy dogs! Only thing is the cottage lounge is rather dark as it has beams, deep recessed windows and dark wood fireplace and the lighting is not fantastic to read by. Other than that the place is fabulous and the views amazing.

  • "Just returned from the most wonderful week at Sprintgill."

The house sits in the most stunning position, with views that are beautiful, the sounds of wildlife and sheep are your morning wake up call. Our dogs loved the garden, particularly the stream and the kind farmer gave us ideas for a dog walk and where we could find common land to let them run. The cottage itself has charm and offers everything you could need and then more, a fully equipped kitchen with Aga, the additional of being able purchase fuel via the honestly box was so simple, but effective. The cottage is a delight and if you are looking for comfort, stunning views, peace, look no further than Sprintgill.

  • "Our holiday was very much needed."

.. Sprintgill Cottage was a beautiful stay amazing views and the facilities were excellent it was good to cook on the Aga, best to read up on how to cook on an Aga first it’ll well worth it... Star our little dog enjoyed the garden. Made friends with the local farmer ... we had the best stay. Just one little negative for us... the towels that were provided were not bath towels, we found them to small...that was just our thing.

  • "This cottage had everything you could need and was a home from home for the week."

The Aga being on to keep the place warm for when you walk in was amazing and useful for drying those wet clothes after a walk. The open fire was lovely to light at night and the wildlife that visits the garden was superb. Keep a look out for the red squirrel and the pheasant that visit most days. Beautiful views and so peaceful, we are looking to book again we enjoyed it so much.

  • "One of the best equipped cottages that we have stayed at."

The weather was bad but the 450 year old cottage was snug and warm. Our Border Collie loved the garden and spent most of the time watching the sheep on the other side of the wall. We had a visit from a red squirrel when we first arrived and there are plenty of good walks near by. Highly recommended.

  • "Beautiful scenery in a lovely setting."

Probably the most relaxing holiday I have had in years. The owners were also very good and kept in touch which was very reassuring. The cottage was full of charm and spotlessly clean. The views were magnificent and I would highly reccommend this. The only downside I could think of is the access road has some really big pot holes which on some small cars could damage the suspension. This aside probably one of the best holidays I have had and I would love yo return.

  • "This is a lovely, peaceful holiday house."

The garden is truly enclosed and our dog loved being out there. The amenities are as described and more and we would love to return next year. There are many, many paths to walk all suitable for a dog on a lead. The local meat is beautiful and easy to cook on the aga. The local pubs also do great food. The aga keeps the stone- built house pleasantly warm. We were really sorry to have only one week here

  • "Absolutely stunning location, beautiful old house, full of character, great period features - including the amazing Aga and the very characterful original kitchen range."

The house has been sensitively refurbished and is clearly lovingly maintained. It is wonderful to walk from up onto the adjacent fells from the back door, while being very private, and very quiet, and in the thick of nature with beautiful views across the valley. We had a very warm welcome from Sarah and the cottage comes packed with all the little extras you so often need but may forget to bring. A great stay - we were also lucky to have stunning sunny weather!

Care needed to keep dogs under control with sheep everywhere! The shower was a little unpredictable and there was not always enough hot water for 4 showers in the morning .The boost did not seem to do anything. Overall a lovely holiday and a beautiful cottage.

The only downside was the track leading to the cottage, it had large potholes and with our small car it can't have done it any good, we felt every one. We found it best for our passengers to walk down the track and get in the car at the bottom.

There were six of us staying, all adults, and there was plenty of space. Lots of homely touches to make you feel welcome. All kitchen facilities available, some quite old, but clean and fully functional. On the doorstep of the Lake District, so nowhere is more than an hour away for a lovely day out. I would recommend to anyone who likes a bit of seclusion with wonderful views and walks, with a definite touch of country atmosphere: we loved every minute!!!!
