  • "Wonderful unspoilt traditional farmhouse retaining its old world ambience and charm, oozing with character."

We loved the fact that the owners have not succumbed to ripping out the soul of the place and modernising it to death like so many other holiday properties. However, all the facilities you are likely to need are amply provided. Great family sized kitchen, lovely comfy lounge and the beds are also very comfy. The location is superb, lots of places to easily get to and the views from the very private property are stunning.

Thank you for your lovely comment. We are so glad that you liked Wray Green and enjoyed its wonderful 400 year old character. Property Owner

  • "Great - very rural location - amazing views!"

Really enjoyed our stay here for a significant birthday - with lots of family coming and going throughout the week. Loved watching the farmers at work and the sheep in close proximity to the property. Good flexibility on the beds / bedrooms which suited us, lovely communal areas for catching up and great off road parking area which was great as some of us were on motorbikes so off road parking is a must. Was great that the kitchen was well stocked with pans, implements etc. which is often not the case in holiday lets. Thanks also to the owner who dealt with our 2 hour early supermarket delivery!!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and had a great time at Wray Green, we hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

The house is very welcoming and perfectly cosy with both fires going when it was chilly and blowing a gale outside (appreciated the hot water bottles too on a couple of colder nights). There are so many beautiful walks locally with an abundance of places to visit in the area that we could happily have stayed longer. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating too. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic 2 week family holiday and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. The wall to wall sunshine and record temperatures were a bonus! The nearest neighbours are 2 fields away. The photos of the view from the garden just don't do it justice. The first evening we just sat on the patio mesmorised by the view. The cottage was soptlessly clean and perfect for our family. We were particularly impressed by the kitchen/dining area which had plenty of space and equipment to cook for 7 of us. Lots of large saucepans and dishes etc. We did a lots of walking, lots of swimming in lakes and rivers and we also explored the local area which was much quieter than in the busy towns of the Lake District. In the cottage there were lots of games to play, books to read, videos to watch and the WIFI is excellent. We also had decent signal for our mobile phones which we hadn't expected. All in all a fantastic base for a fantastic holiday. Thank you for sharing Wray Green with us.

You certainly got the best 2 weeks of the entire year! So glad you enjoyed it & thank you for such lovely comments. Property Owner

We did have awesome weather and the lambing season was in full flow. The kids loved it and had freedom that is seldom experienced anymore, they took full advantage of it. Wray Green has been well thought out and equipped, I'd be surprised if you were found wanting. Some comments left me confused: this place is amazing, you are staying in a sixteenth century building dating back to Oliver Cromwell. If you want 'Holiday Inn' then forget about it, but if want great views, fresh air and a connection to the outside, whilst being warm and cosy, this is the place.

Thank you so much for your glowing review, we are delighted that you have enjoyed your stay and hope very much that you will come again, we can’t always promise sunshine and lambs, but the view and the fresh air never alters! Property Owner

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the problems you encountered with your dog during your stay. The listing does advise that 2 well behaved dogs are welcome, but due to the location of the property and surrounding farmers fields the owner cannot be held responsible should the farmer move livestock into fields next to the cottage. . beautiful scenery, lovely walks and friendly farmer! We where lucky enough to be there to see all the baby lambs jumping around! We had a clear night on one night and the stary sky was the best I've seen... we even saw a shooting star! The cottage was full of character and history, comfy beds and bathroom facilities. A wonderful open fire in the living room and a log burner in the kitchen. We had a couple of issues but the owner responded immediately and rectified these... The only negative comment we had was the old electric arga cooker... we followed the instructions but it took us 2 hours to cook pizza and chips. . We ended up going on Utube for further instructions on the cooker. We needed to turn hob and oven on about 3/4hours before we needed it... so that caused some problems food wise in first few days... however apart from that I couldn't fault it And we would love to return! Was a magical stay... and a much needed break from the rat race! Would highly recommend. Just need some more realistic info on that cooker!
