  • "Great place to stay: Bowness has everything from shops to boat trips on the lake and good access to much of the splendours of the Lake District."

About the property: slightly disappointed there seems no easy recycling availability: I took all mine home with me. Also, the key holder is quite stiff to open!!

  • "Great value for money and great location."

Far enough away from the centre of Bowness for peace and quiet but an easy walk (20 min) in so no parking required. A pretty garden with lake glimpses, probably views in the winter when trees are bare. The Bothy was amazingly well equipped. We brought so many bits with us but didn’t need any of them. However it would have been helpful to mention that there was a high chair and travel cot at the property as we were unable to request a baby package, and so we brought our own. The property was very clean and we enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Bothy.

  • "Bit far out from Bowness making use of the car necessary for grandparents and little ones (parking costly and limited near the lake)."

Surprised not to find the usual collection of old books and slightly battered board games. Internet seemed OK to us (able to do my regular Zoom quiz with no problems) but only close to the presumed location of owner’s router. Very disappointed by the mouldy, broken travel cot provided which was unusable.

  • "We had a brilliant time in a cottage which was in a great location."

We had a problem with a toilet but the owner sorted that out for us. The information in the cottage said we should contact Sykes if we had any problems. This proved impossible. Fortunately we had the owners number and resolved the problem with them. Sykes need a dedicated number for people already on holiday needing help.

  • "Yes the garden made this a lovely holiday."

The property was however basic. The walk into Bowness was lovely and the lane to the complex wasn't busy with cars. There wasn't a child ladder on the bunk beds so our 6 yr old had to top and tail with her 3 yr old brother on the bottom bunk. We did however manage to park 4 cars on the complex when we needed to. A problem with the upstairs toilet was quickly sorted. There were several sightings of a rat who appeared to live in the bed of shrubs outside the back door. Internet was intermittent though reception isn't good generally in the lakes. The downstairs shower was good once you worked out how to position the control to get hot water, We had to adjust the boiler a few times as it stopped heating the water at times. White goods all worked and were good quality.

  • "Really lovely quiet place to stay."

Comfy beds, our boys loved the bunk beds. Well equipped kitchen. Ideal spot for walking into Bowness down a pretty lane. Beautiful garden as well. Only issue was the variable internet connection, this is getting more important now we have to book all day trips online! If this problem was sorted out, we would definitely book again.

Located in a quiet place, near to the centre of town. I would definitely recommend and stay again.

  • "The cottage was lovely."

The owners provided little touches like sandwich bags etc which was excellent. Great facilities and would definitely recommend and stay again. The only slight issue, us the parking situation as there is only just enough space to park 2 cars as there needs to be space for the neighbours, so in our case, 2 families required 2 spaces which were quite tight on the driveway.

  • "Great, quiet location."

Cosy, well equipped cottage. Beautiful garden with lake view. Near the marina and it's bar/restaurant (walking distance). Near Blackwell House which is well worth a visit and has a lovely café.
