Owners didn't interfere, have been to some cottages and they pop around all the time, I find that uncomfortable, however these just left us to it. Would go again. Thumbs up to them!!

It was spotlessly clean and very cosy. Lovely shower and comfortable beds. Perfect location for exploring the lakes and lots of useful information about where to go. Cartmel is a lovely village nearby with some nice friendly pubs. The Kings Arms do a wonderful Sunday roast. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

  • "It is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location."

The back yard is lovely in the sunshine and a great place to sit and eat out. Very safe for our dogs too. Lots of lovely walks down the lanes around the cottage with our dogs and Grange is a lovely town to visit and if you get the tide right you can walk out on the estuary from the prom with your dogs. Can be a bit busy if the races are on, but this is only 4 times a year so easy to avoid. This part of the lake district seems to be an undiscovered gem as really not a wash with people even on a bank holiday.

  • "No contact with owner ."

We did not enjoy our holiday. We were told there would be building work and would be noisy . We hoped we would cope.the owner didn't advise on other alternative. So we put up with it. I'm sure the reviews we went off are good. But unfortunatly not for us. And sykes were not helpful. Will not use sykes again.

"The cottage is lovely, clean and well equipped" - Mrs M via email 12.05.23. No contact with the owner - 8 days prior to visiting I phoned to let the guests know we were having solar panels installed, informed her of the roofers hours (8.30 am to 4 -4.30 pm) and advised her to contact Sykes if she had any concerns, re changing dates/cottage. Phone call 48 hours prior to visit for key collection no mention of any concerns. Phone call on day of arrival asking if they could enter the cottage before 5pm. Yes, not a problem, workmen had left and cottage was ready for them. Guests spoke to my husband on 2 occasions during their stay, no mention on being unhappy, only mentioned that the weather in Keswick was awful. Noise - Guests arrived after workmen had finished on Friday, as it was Coronation weekend there was no work undertaken on the property until 8.45 am Tuesday morning. Guests arrived back to the cottage on the remaining 3 days in the late afternoon. As owners, we do our upmost to make every stay enjoyable, but if no one mentions anything during the visit how do we know to offer any solution? On this occasion we found out about Mrs M's issues at 5 pm after departure via an e-mail asking for compensation. Property Owner

  • "The single beds were a bit hard and there was the racing on and we couldn’t get into the town when we got there it was blocked off and we had no pass."

It would be good if they could let people know when they book with them that the racing was on. All the roads were blocked not good.

I'm sorry that you felt your visit was spoilt by Cartmel Races taking place the same weekend as your booking. We would not mention this as a rule, as the cottage is situated 2 miles from the village and so is wholly not affected by the races at all. The village is open as usual for visitors on non-racing days. I will certainly look into purchasing new mattresses for the single beds. We did have to leave all doors and windows open after your departure as the cottage smelt of cigarette smoke, which isn't pleasant for guests coming in the same afternoon. The cottage is listed as 'non smoking' Property Owner

Very clean and tidy, lovely welcome gifts, milk and juice in the fridge, great back garden for our dogs and located very close to Cartmel. The bed was comfy and the bathroom/shower was great. There was also some information on the local area and should we have needed them, the hosts were next door. We spent almost everyday out and about until later in the afternoon and did not use the lounge area but should we have done, it was also very comfortable and cosy.

  • "Cottage itself was lovely but whilst the cottage is listed as dog friendly you’re asked not to take your dogs into the living area meaning if you want to watch tv your dog needs to to stay down stairs in the kitchen."

Facilities were pretty good but no washing machine. Cleanliness and location of the cottage were great and the couple that own the cottage were both super friendly.

Thank you for your feedback. I would like to assure our future guests dogs are of course allowed in the sitting room. The stairgate is to help guests keep their dogs on hard floors whilst they dry off after enjoying their walks and days out, in what can be a wet and muddy Lake District. I will ensure this is made clear in the information for future guests. Property Owner
