This property was very clean and great for a short break away. The location was ideal for exploring this part of the Lake District. Would have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone looking to book a holiday.

  • "Turn Cottage has been the perfect home this week."

We've loved coming back after our long days walking to lighting the log burner and cooking wholesome meals. Thanks for the thoughtful touches which went a long way- especially the Mud Daddy to clean the dogs paws. After trying the jam you kindly left for us we keenly headed to Hawkshead to get some more to take home. We visited so many places during our week, but particularly loved the cafes and shops in Hawkshead. Thanks for a lovely stay in your fully quipped and cosy home.

  • "Turn Cottage was a fabulous place to stay, we loved all the little extras that were provided such as washing up liquid, soap, toilet rolls, dishwasher tablets, dog biscuits, tea & coffee (although we had brought our own as these are not usually provided in holiday houses!"

). The only things that could improve the the kitchen would be a fridge with a freezer compartment, as the shops are far away it would be good to keep meat etc for longer. And some oven proof dishes for making things like lasagne (we used the ceramic bowls not realising they were dog bowls, but they did the job!) The hot water wasn't very warm when we arrived but we worked out how to turn it up on the boiler panel so that was quickly sorted for lovely hot baths after walking in the rain! A great little place to stay and explore the Lakes.

  • "Lovely cottage, clean & comfortable, especially the beds!"

Perfect for my mum & I and our two dogs (stairs are steep so need to be steady on your feet!). Little extras were a nice touch and much appreciated. Would be nice to have wood & fuel available, especially as we go into Winter. Great location for visiting Rydal Water, Ambleside and Windermere being a 30 minute drive away. Would recommend / visit again.

  • "Well presented and tastefully done,a bit short of anywhere to put anything in the bedrooms and I couldn't reach the hooks in the bedroom!"

The stairs are very narrow and steep and wouldn't suit anyone with any mobility issues. Some lovely touches with the welcome pack which was really appreciated.

  • "We had a lovely stay at the Turn Cottage, really enjoyed our holiday there!"

Pros: -location is very good, no noise from neighbours - very relaxing holiday! -cottage is very well decorated and equipped -bed is incredible, very comfortable -owner is very responsive if you have any questions -the owners have prepared a very detailed user book, with all the information you need (from what to do to check out, places to visit around and how to use the appliance) - Kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were very clean. Cons: -quite far from shops, roads are quite small around the cottage -parking wasn't clear to us - I would strongly suggest adding a diagram to explain in more details how to park in the shared courtyard -cottage was generally clean, but there were dust and (dog?) hairs on the floor / sofa in the living room - hence the rating. -there is quite a strong dog smell in the cottage, which might bother you if you don't have a dog/don't like the smell. The owner likely tried to remove the smell before we arrived as the smell was not as strong at the beginning, but it did come back over the days even though we do not have a dog.

We’re so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and found it well equipped, comfy and relaxing. We really appreciate the feedback, please be assured we have also shared your comments with our cleaning company to be addressed. Property Owner

  • "A lovely little cottage, nicely located, a feeling of isolation but not to far from the village of Hawkshead and 25 min drive to Coniston."

No outdoor space but there is lovely walks on the doorstep. Well equipped inside with the exception of no freezer compartment in the fridge which was a disappointment. Overall a very nice stay, immaculate inside, extremely comfortable beds and we would he happy to visit again

  • "Fantastic property which is beautifully furnished with thoughtful little touches throughout."

The beds were super comfortable and there was everything you needed. Detail has gone into everything including the manual left at the property which contains everything you need to know about the area and the cottage itself. The property was really clean and immaculately decorated.

  • "A perfectly equipped cottage in a quiet location, with all essentials provided and lots of nicely thought out extras."

Very clean and comfortable. Well placed for exploring Grizedale, Hawkshead, Ulverston, and not too out of the way for Windermere and Ambleside.

  • "Feel like we have discovered a hidden gem with this cottage."

All the little thoughtful touches that had been put in made it all the more special. Clearly a great deal of time and care is taken into welcoming guests. It is much appreciated. Incredibly peaceful on a night, yet easy enough to get to plenty of popular locations. We look forward to returning soon.

The picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Visitors can wander the wealth of tiny alleyways, thoroughfares, archways and courtyards between the whitewashed 17th century houses. There are many pleasant inns, teashops, guest houses and gift shops in the village, as well as the Beatrix Potter Gallery, which houses an annually changing exhibition of the famous author’s illustrations and stories. The other famous Hawkshead enthusiast, William Wordsworth, attended the Old Grammar School in 1779-87, which still stands today, and you can visit the building where the Lakeland poet developed his love of the form, and even see the desk into which he scratched his name as a small boy! Newby Bridge is ten miles away and offers attractions such as the Aquarium of the Lakes and Windermere Lake Cruises, sailing daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside. With stunning scenery and numerous attractions within easy touring distance, Hawkshead is in an ideal location at any time of the year.
