And what a pleasant home it is. When we arrived and had a look round I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it is even nicer than I was expecting. The photos on your advert don't nearly portray how light and airy and spotless it is.

  • "I wouldn't say this was the best cottage we've stayed in but it's certainly very good."

It was clean and comfortable. The downstairs cloakroom (WC and basin) is a good selling point and deserves to be mentioned in the listing. There were one or two omissions, but nothing show-stopping. We'd have expected spare kitchen roll, and maybe some cling film. The book of instructions for guests had details of a microwave which no longer exists (the current microwave instructions are with the microwave) but nothing about the main oven controls, which are a bit quirky. However, I Googled it and found something similar, which gave us the information needed. Previous reviews have criticised the WiFi so I was a bit apprehensive about that but I need not have been. It was better than we have at home and quite sufficient for streaming and for general use. It probably depends on what you're used to. We weren't using the third bedroom but I think the lack of storage space could be a problem. Also, some of the bedroom curtains could do with linings so that you don't wake at 5am. Overall, we had a good stay and I would recommend this cottage.

  • "Great cottage in a great location."

Well kept and very comfy after a long day walking. Might be a bit if a squeeze for 5 people upstairs as the 3rd bedroom is very small with no storage. The owner recommended the Knights Table for eating ...we went for Sunday Roast...best roast I've had out ....would equally recommend. Although the local pub had decent food with large portions

  • "We had a lovely family holiday and the accommodation was very clean and well resourced."

One thing we would like to suggest that would improve the property is to provide some storage facility in the small bedroom. Please can you put some shelves up on the walls behind the door, or provide another solution. Otherwise everything was fantastic.

  • "My husband and I had a lovely few nights stay here."

On arrival the house was very clean (even my husband commented on the clean laundry smell as he went upstairs - that never happens at home!) When I booked the property, I remember reading a review saying don't judge the property on the photos.. and that is so true..! We had 2 very wet walking days and it was lovely to come back to a warm house and a hot shower - In fact the shower pressure was amazing!! For 2 nights we ate at the local pub. Very friendly landlord and lady, good home cooked food and plenty of it. For our last night we tried to get into the Game Cock in Austwick for dinner; unfortunately it was already fully booked (Wednesday in March, non school holidays). My advise would be to book ahead if you fancy this pub. We will definitely be visiting this beautiful area again and this will be our first choice for accommodation

It had everything we needed for our stay… shame we had to pay for a week when we we only there 3 nights but hey, we knew that when we went. If we have a complaint it’s that the double bed is not comfortable at all! My son said his single in the back room was comfortable though. Could have done with sharper kitchen knives The owner was very pleasant and helpful on the phone!

  • "What a cracking place to stay."

It really teaches you to not judge a book by its cover. The property has a large open plan kitchen dining area, which was basically where we spent our time, for the short periods we were in. I was probably being pickie marking it down one on comfort. The beds were great and we slept well. The downside was the sofas. I have spinal problems and was unable to sit on them as they were to low and to soft. Great for most people I would imagine. If you stay here your ideally situated for visiting the best that North Yorkshire has to offer. Most places are within a 10 to 20 minute drive, Malham Cove, the 3 peaks, Gaping Gill and so the list goes on. The are untold number of walks on the door step too. The pub just down the road is amazing, good beer, food and dog friendly. I can highly recommend the fish and chip shop opposite co-op in Settle to. We will definitely be returning

The owners have considered every eventuality as far as we could tell, everything was spotless, in excellent condition with some very considerate extra touches, like ice cubes in the freezer, a starter pack of logs and kindling, games and books to enjoy, along with plenty of local information, and the icing on the cake were the lovely Christmas decorations to make us feel at home. We would not hesitate in recommending the cottage to others, with one minor point to make, the need for a couple of pillows available in case anyone needs extra. Not a great problem though and didn't spoil our stay. The pub nearby was a pleasant spot with good beer and food available. The Gamecock in Austwick is an excellent spot for a lovely meal, and there are ample walks in the area for the keenest of ramblers, or the casual strollers to enjoy. All in all, we would give this pleasant little cottage 10 out of 10.
