The property

A delightful mid-terrace stone property, Rose Cottage rests in the charming village of Foulridge, near to Colne, in Lancashire, offering three guests a lovely base from which to explore the area.

Enter from the front door and be welcomed straight into the open-plan living space, coming first to the well-equipped kitchen where you can cook delicious meals when you're not trying out the various cuisines in Colne.

A breakfast bar rests on the other side of the kitchen counter, leading into the sitting area complete with plush sofa and armchair and a large flatscreen TV.

Discover the excellent bedrooms upstairs, choose from a double or the single which has a wall-mounted TV, while across the hall is the sparkling bathroom with a bath and shower over.

The village of Foulridge is home to several pubs, but if you're after shops then head to Colne where you can find a great choice of independent shops and businesses, selling locally sourced food and handmade crafts.

Less than a mile from Rose Cottage is Lake Burwain, a man made lake which is popular for wild swimming, or if you prefer dry land then take an evening stroll around the waters to end the day.

Walkers can find many local walking routes incorporating the surrounding hills, including Nonya Hill, Weets Hill which has extensive valley views, and Pendle Hill.

Spend the day at Thornton Hall Country Park where a local working farm offers fun rides, a play area and the chance to meet the animals too, it's fun for all ages.

Heading south towards Burnley is the National Trust's Gawthorpe Hall, an Elizabethan house with links to the Brontë sisters, now housing art and textile collections and within beautiful grounds.

Travel over to Skipton on the fringes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and visit Skipton Castle, built in the 12th century and still extremely well-preserved for a fortress of its kind.

The Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway is a fantastic journey back in time on a vintage steam locomotive and all the while you can take in the spectacular scenery of the Yorkshire countryside.

Enjoy a wonderful stay at Rose Cottage and discover the best of Lancashire and beyond.
