  • "A beautiful cottage with wonderful views from all windows."

The upstairs living space is simply stunning - the photos do not do it justice (the upstairs flooring is wood rather than carpet shown in the photos and the TV has been updated to a large flat screen). It is much more spacious, bright and airy than we expected. The sofas and the bed are all very comfy and there is ample parking outside the cottage. There was no DVD player in the property despite the description mentioning that you can watch DVDs (and some are provided at the cottage), so bring your own if you plan on relaxing with a film - the upstairs area and bedroom do have smart TVs so you can access the usual apps with your accounts (BBC iPlayer, Disney plus, Netflix etc.). There were quite a few cobwebs around when we checked in, but you are in the countryside so it didn’t bother us too much. We also noticed dust underneath the sofas and tables and some of the utensils and glasses were not left very clean by previous guests, but the rest of the property was very clean and tidy. The shower is lovely and warm but we couldn’t get the hot taps in the kitchen, bathroom sink and the bath to heat up - however, being August this wasn’t too much of an issue either. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return again!

Our stay was very pleasant, the property was clean and tidy, there was everything there that was needed to make our stay enjoyable, the only thing of note was there was no hot water

  • "A very enjoyable stay."

The frontage / garden could do with tidying up.

  • "The cottage was fabulous and we both loved it."

Really well equipped, comfortable. No complaints at all. Perfect! The only comment I would make was regarding putting out the rubbish. The instructions were to leave the rubbish in a bin marked "Cumbria waste group" (or similar) but we could not find this bin, so the guidance needs an update.

  • "My wife and I had a very enjoyable week, our accommodation was very spacious and comfortable we were out all day touring around, but is was nice to return to our cottage in the evening to relax and unwind, every thing that you need was on hand and working, our towels were very fluffy and white!"

we were pleased that we were able to use our mobiles in the cottage as the service was not very good in some of the local areas we would highly recommend using this cottage...

  • "No dishes to cook anything in, no baking tray, fring pan in bad state, no mattress protector on one of beds, lamps in bedrooms look very very old and tatty!"

Stains on towels, luckily bought our own! All in all not what I paid for! Emailed Sykes a few times after their responses, since last email I sent over a week ago..no reply. Pretty disgusted. Would not recommend.

Thank you for your feedback. We are saddened to hear of these deficiencies raised. All our properties are fully equipped however some items do get damaged, need replacing or go missing. Between the Lakelovers team, the owner and yourselves we have now resolved all issues. Kind regards Lakelovers Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, fabulous location ideal to get anywhere on the lakes or surrounding area, but just a few negative points."

Generally cleanliness of the cottage is below par and looks like it could do with a good clean and revamp in general (lick of paint, up-dated furniture etc.). There was also a problem with wasps (which was mentioned in the visitors book by another visitor), my dad was stung on the first night in the cottage (luckily he had no adverse reaction), all through the holiday we amounted quite a collection of dying wasps, no idea how they were getting in (but there had been mention of a nest in the book..... maybe need to get somebody in again to get the problem sorted).

Lovely separate bathroom with rustic wood panelling and shower over bath.

Head upstairs to the open plan living space, encompassing the well-equipped kitchen, living room and dining room.

This large, bright space features locally commissioned wrought ironwork fittings and wooden furniture set in lovely A-frame oak beams.

Surrounded by fabulous views of the Lyth Valley - this is a true picture postcard setting with wonderful walks in every direction and if you want to stay close to home, enjoy the small garden with its seating area.

Explore the surrounding lanes and byways, drop in at the excellent traditional local pubs, or take day-trips to nearby Bowness, Lake Windermere and beyond.

The Lyth Valley is a gorgeous rural area, scattered with traditional Lake District country cottages and farms.

Wonderful traditional pubs with good food and great ales abound, including the Punchbowl at nearby Crosthwaite.

The surrounding Lyth valley is well-known for its Damson harvests and is decked in Damson blossom in spring.

Great Walks start from your doorstep.

You can choose from gentle strolls along winding paths and lanes to dramatic walks on Scout Scar and Whitbarrow Scar.

The views across the Lakes and neighbouring counties from these bracing but manageable walks are stunning.
