  • "We had a lovely few days in 'The Hayloft'."

It's a cute cottage in a fabulous location in Hawes. The cottage was warm and inviting and the underfloor heating in the bathroom was a nice touch. There is a great choice of places to eat in Hawes with Hawdrawfalls on your doorstep too and also a short drive to Aysgarth falls. We will definitely be back

  • "The Hayloft is in a great location, within walking distance of all amenities in Hawes."

Hawes has a great selection of independent shops, cafes and pubs. Parking is just outside the gates to the property and EV charging is a short walk away too. The property itself was clean and the welcome pack was a nice touch (as was the provision of extra logs for the burner and a torch during a storm!). It would have been even better if the provision of consumables (toilet roll, hand wash etc.,) had been sufficient for the duration of our stay. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking utensils so easy to prepare a meal and eat in. The dining chairs were basic for a property of this type. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The bedroom would benefit from being carpeted and from the addition of a usable mirror (there is one but in a tricky space to use it). Hanging space is very limited. The directions were inadequate for finding the property in the dark - we fed this back to the owners so hopefully these will be improved.

There is everything you need. The woodburner has a Cosy feel after long wet walks. The landscape and walks are stunning and the local pubs are amazing. Already booked for 2024. The tap in the bathroom was reported and the owner was sorting very promptly. The welcome basket was much appreciated The only niggle is the 5pm check in. I know from previous visits this was implemented for COVID cleaning but maybe the owners would consider putting it back to earlier

Amenities were excellent, although we did find the bedroom too warm, which we put down to the boiler in the room and the very mild weather. We just kept the windows open! Loved the sound of the river rushing by. The welcome basket of goodies was a lovely touch, which we enjoyed. Also loved the books telling great tales of the dales! The owners and their family were very friendly and made us very welcome. Beautiful area with friendly people which hopefully we will come back to. Our dog Ruby absolutely loved her holidays too, with the added bonus of the hose to wash her down after her long walks. Definitely 10/10

Cottage was lovely, very comfortable and felt like a home from home. Quiet at night and everything you need for a trip. The only things I would suggest to improve is: Bigger TV, more storage in bedroom (double width chest of drawers). Also a full length clothes dryer. These are really minor, fussy things because overall it was a lovely stay and it was with real sadness to leave. Value for money in comparison to what we paid elsewhere later on our trip in the height of Easter. Great time staying here.

we had a relaxing holiday at this accommodation, steps into the property are pretty steep, parking can also sometimes be a problem, ideally it would be good if you were able to park your car inside the metal gates. Excellent amenities with dishwasher, washing machine & a tumble drier. Dishwasher tablets & softener for the washing machine were supposed to be provided but unfortunately not for us, also not enough toilet rolls provided, Have to say this was not the fault of the owner but whoever cleans the property, also it would of been a bonus if the salt & pepper & the paper towel holder had been replenished. Would love to stay at this property again but would think now that this dream cottage has been found it will be fully booked. About the location

HAWES

Leyburn 16 miles.

Hawes is a popular market town in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire and is regarded as one of the honeypot tourist attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Standing between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, the town is an excellent centre for walking and touring Wensleydale and the adjoining dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale and Chapel-le-Dale. Take a walk around the Hawes Town Trail, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way or along the River Ure, which is nearby. In 1998 Hawes was awarded the English Tourist Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Trip Out". Modern traffic has long replaced coaches and horse drawn wagons along its narrow streets, but market day (Tuesdays) in Hawes is as busy as ever, with a farmers’ auction attracting sheep farmers from all over the north of England. Traditional shops, cafés and inns now cater for a variety of Dales visitors as well as the local community. The award-winning Wensleydale Creamery, made famous by the animated Wallace and Grommit films, is now open to visitors so that they can see the famous cheese being made and sample the end product in a welcoming café. In the old station yard you will find the busy National Park Centre and Dales Countryside Museum. The Museum is home to the magnificent collection of Dales artefacts by the two great Dales historians and writers, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby.
