  • “The houses was like a home from home.”

Beautifully decorated and a picturesque location. Settle was a great base for some wonderful scenic walks. Absolutely everything we needed.

The property

A beautiful stone-built, four storey terraced cottage in a fantastic location overlooking the River Ribble, just a short walk from the market place in the Dales town of Settle.

With lovely views of the river and across to Pen-y-ghent, this Settle cottage is a real delight.

Fully renovated and individually styled to provide a first-class holiday home very much in keeping with the long history of the building.

Thoughtfully developed and designed to accommodate guests in luxurious style, this cottage is really one not to be missed.

Boasting a warm and cosy sitting room with feature fireplace and welcoming open fire, the cottage also offers a separate dining room, again with cosy open fire, and a modern well-equipped kitchen with access to the rear courtyard, a great place to sit out and enjoy an evening tipple.

On the first floor, clever use of space has produced a large bathroom and a separate cloakroom both serving two spacious bedrooms.

The main bedroom features a super king-size bed, period furniture, a feature fire surround and views of Pen-y-ghent; this is a beautiful space, blending elegant furnishings perfectly with the overall style of this beautiful Settle cottage.

On the second floor a spacious bedroom provides flexible sleeping arrangements.

The lower ground floor boasts excellent storage and the added bonus of a games room, where the family can challenge each other to a game of pool, table tennis and darts.

Outside the cottage there is a grassed park to the front, with benches next to the river, which provides a great spot for relaxing or simply watching the world go by.

Within easy walking distance there are riverside walks, a number of traditional pubs serving fine ales and good food and, of course, access to the famous Settle to Carlisle railway line.

The Dales countryside offers wonderful walks and cycle routes, with the famous three peaks of Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent just a stone's throw away, plus Skipton and the Lake District are both just half an hour's drive away.

A luxury Settle cottage, ideal for a break whatever the time of year.

About the location

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
