Some aspects were excellent, well-equipped kitchen, lovely hot tub however, shower not great, poor quality bedding especially duvet, uncomfortable sofa. Access difficult, uneven / steep steps down into garden and up to door of cottage. We enjoyed but won't return.

Thanks for your feed back. We are having are have a new Bathroom fitted in January. Electric showers aren't always the best. The bedding is all good quality. The duvet is a silent night one and only a year old. You are the only person who mentioned bedding. Everybody else says how nice the beds are. The steps outside are shown in the picture on sykes website of the cottage to let people know. We have never had a complaint about the settee before either. We had already ordered a new settee 3 months ago as the cottage is having a mini re vamp in January we are having the old settee at our house as we dont find it uncomfortable .Sorry you won't be staying again. Maybe you will find somewhere else to your liking in the future. Take care and have a nice Xmas and newyear Property Owner

The cottage is well equipped with everything thought of, although the outside seating is a little tired. The hot tub is great and we used it everyday. Parking is just outside at the front. Behind the cottage is the mill shop and cafe, but this does not affect the cottage as you look over the top of the mill from the cottage. For those with mobility issues access would be difficult as you have to go down steps, across the yard and then up more steps to the front door. Some of the steps are uneven. Great walks on the doorstep and a good rail-link if you dont want to use the car. Then there is the amazing hot tub to return to, something we took advantage of everyday, private and secluded. • "We had a great week at the Ramblers Retreat."

A week didn’t feel long enough to explore all of the gorgeous scenery. We spent our days walking and evenings recouperating in the hot tub. So many wonderful walks within settle and so many others in the surrounding villages. I downloaded outdoor active, that was super helpful for finding new routes and places to walk wherever we were, you can track your own route or follow someone else’s and pick length/difficulty etc. The cottage and facilities were exactly what you need all of the home comforts, good bed, cutlery/crockery and ability to cook a proper meal, if you’re so inclined. As the cottage is bedrooms downstairs and living/kitchen upstairs and stairs down into the cottage courtyard. It can feel like another mountain to climb after a long walk. The hot tub definitely helps rejuvenate you after a day of walking, utter bliss especially when we found the setting that focussed on legs!! We loved the talbot arms and the naked man bakery/cafe If you want lovely fresh bread/cakes get there early to avoid disappointment! A lovely cottage, in a lovely village. We will definitely be back - if you’ll have us!

30pm , amazing in April! Its next to the River Ribble, lovely place to sit in the sun and watch the Herons. Cottage is 7 min walk from Settle, a lovely little town with loads of choices for food shopping and takeaways. Booths a quality supermarket. 2 mins up and out of Settle you are in spectacular landscapes. 7 miles to drive to beautiful Malham, you cant beat The Lister Arms with open fire and great food. Waterfall walks from Malaham fantastic. Also did the Settle-Carlisle beautiful train journey again , as the scenery is stunning! One of my top 5 places to holiday for walking and being in nature, will keep going back and will definately book Rambler’s retreat again! Everything we required was available. Definitely a home away from home. The hot tub was amazing and the weather was fantastic for March. Good enclosed garden for our wee dog. The extra gate at bottom of stairs in garden was great as our wee escape artist couldn't get out. Easy stroll into town. If mobility problems it wouldn't be suitable as stairs down into garden from road then steps into cottage are quite high. Otherwise a fantastic cottage

About the location

SETTLE

Malham 6 miles; Skipton 17 miles; Kendal 25 miles.

The bustling market town of Settle lies at the south west rim of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, nestled beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes - amongst some of the most picturesque scenery in North Yorkshire. Tuesday is market day in Settle, when the square is filled with stalls offering a wide variety of crafts and goods. The market place is surrounded by local businesses, the centre being dominated by The Shambles, an historic three storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall. There is a good selection of restaurants and pubs and a public swimming pool. The Victoria Hall has entertainment and other activities such as folk nights throughout the year. The famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Settle is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
