"This is a very comfortable cottage in a lovely old village."
Perfect for exploring the Three Peaks area.

"The cottage was beautifully furnished."
I wondered if the owner had experience with interior design. The kitchen was small but the owners had managed to fit everything needed into the space. One note of caution. Three of the four wine glasses were badly cracked. We left a note so that they could be replaced before the next guests. It didn't matter to us - we can drink wine from tumblers. Having driven through storm Amy the fact that the cottage was always warm was very welcome. Giggleswick is a fascinating village and the local pub outstanding.

"The well placed cottage was offered at a reduced price for the week we wanted which was perfect as we needed a week's stay due to gap in selling/buying our homes."
We are local so knew everything about the area, especially where to park and best places to eat. We were also kind to housekeeping by mostly using our own bedlinen and towels. It helped having read reviews of this cottage so we could bring little extras (like blankets and torches) to give us a more comfortable stay. Plus points: the cottage is centrally located in historic Giggleswick and only a short walk to two excellent pubs as well as wider amenities such as Booths and Coop supermarkets and ASDA filling station in Settle, all of which supply logs for the fire if you need them. The double bed is very comfy and the cottage/village is very quiet. The cottage is warm (once you've Googled the instructions for setting the timer which is on the first floor next to the bathroom) and the kitchen is very well stocked. The WiFi signal is strong and freely available. The double shower is excellent (just avoid turning the spray on too much!) Minus points: the shower and bathroom sink had signs of black mould, the bottom oven wasn't working and there was no way to collect water under the draining rack. Improvements: provide instructions for 1. Parking 2. Heating 3. TV FreeSat 4. Washing machine/dryer. Otherwise, a great stay

"Really enjoyed my stay at Rose cottage, it was spotless on arrival with a lovely welcome pack of goodies."
It’s a great location for exploring the area, which I did daily. The whole ambiance of the cottage and immediate area was very relaxing. Would certainly recommend this cottage and area.

"A delightful property and perfect for our needs."
Very well appointed.
We had a problem with the dishwasher which I reported early on, both to Sykes and to the local housekeeping company but was not resolved during our stay. This wasn't a major concern but would have been good not to have to wash up by hand as there was no draining area by the sink.

"An enjoyable pre-Christmas break."
The cottage was warm, clean and comfortable and the log burner was a bonus as we dined in a coupe of evenings. Close proximity are two excellent pubs. Great location, we walked from the doorstep on several occasions and the cottage was a welcome retreat upon our return. Very satisfied, would definitely recommend Rose Cottage.

"A beautiful and clean cottage."
We thoroughly enjoyed our week there, an ideal location for exploring the dales. Sadly I had a back injury so the nearby bus stop for services to Clitheroe came in handy on a few days. The Black Horse pub which was 2 mins away also came in handy, good food and ale.
Will definitely stay again when I can walk normally and pain free again.
Can heartily recommend this accommodation.

"Another satisfying week."
Stayed at this cottage several times last year.
Clean and comfortable, we are always satisfied. Sykes description and
listing spot on. Great location.
On the downside we found the main oven not to be working. Instructions
on how to use the tv a must and a mirror in the main bedroom would be
useful. Apologies for breaking a dinner plate.
Would definitely recommend the cottage and already planning another
stay later this year.

"Charming cottage, big lounge."
Lots of books and games. Nicely decorated. Bedrooms very nice and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom looking tired and would benefit from updating. Central heating was on 24/7! Very hot at night. No off switch so had to adjust wall stat every hour or so. Nice neighbour helped us with rubbish collection times. Info was out of date. However, we had a very nice stay.

"Renters should be warned about the low front door."
I banged my head and jarred my neck which badly affected my enjoyment of the first two days. Some instructions for using the TV would be useful, ditto controlling the heating/hot water system.

"Delightful period cottage in the village of Giggleswick."
Upstairs you will find two bedrooms that are warm, with cozy beds and a bathroom with shower.
Downstairs is a well equipped kitchen.
The living room is large with a wood burning stove, you are asked to remove your shoes at the door, the floors are however stone meaning your feet freeze, if we had been advised about this we could have brought house shoes or slippers.
I don’t believe anyone had been into the cottage in a while, a large pile of mail at the back door, no starter kit for the fire, and no welcome package.
Conclusion ; missing a pair of kitchen scissors, a larger saucepan, mirror in the bedroom, Instructions on how to use things, a warmer throw for watching tv, and Rugs for the stone floor. Best thing was sharing the home with the very friendly ghosts.
Parking is a problem, but that’s true of the whole village.
Would recommend this cottage but minor improvements would be greatly appreciated.

"The property was warm on arrival and very clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed for our stay."
The stove was used in the evenings to dry out wet boots and clothing. The bathroom was well finished and decorated. The area was nice and quiet and perfect for checking out the Three Peaks area, with two lovely local pubs. All I would mention is that on road parking was not feasible during the New Year period. I was fortunate to park at the side two days and then reverse round the back near the school gate. A designated parking spot when the cottage is in use round the back would be a big bonus. Maybe out of holiday season this is not such an issue. Also, maybe a 'mind your head' sign by the front door as we both banged out heads. But this is minor, the cottage is beautiful and is well recommended.

"A super cosy cottage with all you need in a perfect location."
If one is over sensitive to gentle church clock chimes at night, just shut the window. We found it charming. Mind, you’ll miss the owls as well. Parking was fine, although the neighbours were (understandably) precious about the space behind the cottage, bagging it as their own. With thought, three cars could easily fit. But I get it. The walk into Settle over the millennium bridge was a joy. I found the small lane by accident, but it saves walking the long way around. The only very minor niggle was the kettle….I failed to get the lid off to refill it! Apologies also for breaking a mug. Thanks for the milk etc upon arrival.

"Disappointed to find there was no welcome pack."
Would have appreciated a pint of fresh milk in the fridge
upon arrival.
Overall satisfied Rose Cottage is an ideal base for a weeks motorcycling tour of the Dales. Have re-booked for June for another motorcycle jaunt.
Hello, I am so sorry to hear that for some reason there was no welcome pack provided. There would usually be a tray with a choice of savoury and sweet biscuits and chocolate options as well as tea and coffee, sugar and milk. I will look into the matter and hope to correct this right away. Thank you for booking Rose Cottage again and I do hope you find this resolved for your next visit. Thank you as well for letting me know. I appreciate it.
