The area is fantastic, the highlight was a visit to Vindolanda which is well worth it. I'd have to agree with previous comments about one of the beds being uncomfortable, like there are springs sticking up and you have to move about to get the right spot. Probably also worth mentioning that the Samson Inn is closed down, at least temporarily. Overall a highly recommended stay and will likely be booking again.

Another dining chair and longer sofa would have been great. Thank you Mr & Mrs Waugh for use of your house while our younger family members walked The Wall end to end.

Thank you for your review Also a big thank you for leaving the house neat and tidy . We take on board your comments regarding the seating . In the past guests have not required an extra chair due to the additional two bar stools. In future we will make sure we ask guests if they require an extra chair. We are adding a pouffe along with the current sofas. We do hope this will rectify the situation. Also we must say congratulations to the walkers on completing Hadrians Wall well done! The guide book had great suggestions for things to do a d places to eat, which we did and found exactly that! Tastefully decorated, comfortable beds, plenty of space and equipment in kitchen. Good reliable wifi and fantastic location to explore local area or travel further. Suggestions: Recycling/rubbish information needs to be a bit clearer as not sure initially what could go where. There is a washing machine but as no garden - no washing line, however on asking owners we were able to use rotary airer in garden area below Alpha Rise, this would have been good information to have in welcome folder. Be aware there is no garden with this property, however there is space to sit on steps outside which is a lovely spot in the sun

They each wanted a bedroom of their own as they don't get that luxury at home. We expected this to bump the price considerably but Alpha Rise came up and looked beautiful, modern and clean in its pictures. We booked a weeks stay at the back end of July. Our stay was fab, we were lucky to receive good weather and only had one day of rain. The owners were lovely and showed us around on arrival telling us where to find everything we would need and also adding that they were available should we have any problems. The property was presented just as its pictures and so much more. We really felt at home and could have happily extended our stay. The local area was a delight, we took the car off every day and visited somewhere new. We took walks along portions of Hadrian's wall, visited the Roman Army Museum and Vindolanda. There are some great pubs serving home cooked food so well worth at least a couple of meals out. I've already recommended this property to others and would certainly revisit myself.

In all other respects the location was excellent, very close to Hadrian's Wall with good walks both east and west along by the wall. The owners allowed us to recharge our electric car from their mains supply (we paid for the extra electricity). This made travelling around much simpler than it might otherwise have been and meant we could set off home with 240 miles of range which made the return journey to Hampshire very easy.
