  • "Rockwood is a beautiful house in a lovely setting with fabulous views over Morecambe Bay."

    However the furnishing was not what I would expect from an expensive luxury holiday rental. For the price I would not expect threadbare furniture. The electrics in the house were of concern. Bulbs failed and flipped the fuse on several occasions, the main bathroom.s one working bulb( in a chandelier of 5) failed on day 2.The shower room light on the !st floor never worked. The sockets caused further fuse failures eventually causing the alarm to sound distressing for the children.Personally I did not anticipate spending my holiday dealing with fuse boxes in the middle of the nightWe felt unable to use the electric sauna as we hd no trust in the electrics.. A teapot with mouldy teabags in is not the greeting Id expect for the price paid. Whilst these may seem minor things the property had obviously not been properly checked. Working lightbulbs are hardly a luxury in the 21st century.The spare bulb under the sink did not fit any light fittings. Spare blankets and towels, extra tea towels(2 for 14 peopleis hardly adequate), should be available in a property of this size and price.Most of these issues should have been resolved prior to our holiday and would have made a good holiday much more relaxing.

  • "The house was very clean and tidy and situated in a lovely spot overlooking the bay."

    That said, the bed in the front bedroom was very noisy, to the point that every time you moved it woke you up. I appreciate that you wouldn't want to put expensive furniture in a rental house, but I do think the house would benefit from a couple of comfy sofas.

  • "A gorgeous Victorian house plenty of room for the 12 of us."

    Plenty to do - games to play, books to read, games room and cinema room. Grange over Sands is a beautiful resort and was made more magical as it snowed whilst we were there. We were very lucky not to be affected by storm Arwen as most of the town was without power for the whole of our stay. Only slight issues were that some of the radiators didn’t work and the windows were quite draughty in some of the rooms. All in all a lovely house in a great location.

  • "Lovely house, real family vibe."

    We did have a few issues with the plumbing but they were sorted very quickly when we called them in. Overall, a lovely place for big family gathering

  • "We arrived for 17."

    00 entry but we were not able to gain access due to cleaning still in progress when we were finally allowed to enter the wooden floors were still soaking wet from the cleaner mopping them last before we entered the house itself was fine but needing a lot of attention fresh paint in some rooms,new beds as two beds being held together with duck tape another shower on the first floor is a must , the sauna is outdated and takes forever to heat up ,the cushions for patio furniture are needing deep cleaned as well as carpet in TV room the second floor is very cramped for space in all areas ,some of the windows need attention, apart from these issues the house is fine with stunning views in the font garden,very peaceful location, also ideally placed for visiting surrounding areas

  • "The property is misadvertised as 5 star."

    It's probably 3+ star in truth - more shabby chic than high end. But that's not to say it's not a great house. It's in a great location and provided masses of space indoors for our party of 8 adults and 6 young children. It's very robust, ideal for our needs. The bedrooms lacked storage - a simple chest of drawers would be helpful in each room. We had to live out of suitcases. The garden is pretty overgrown and in need of serious attention. It makes the house appear neglected on first sight, even though it's not when you get inside. P.S. the piano needs tuning!

  • "Overall a very nice property."

    Beautiful garden with a lovely view. There were a few cut corners eg. very limited cleaning supplies for a 6 night stay. We had to buy washing power/ cleaning spray/ kitchen paper/ toilet paper etc, which is disappointing given the premium price charged for the accommodation.

  • "We were a group of 10 adults and 4 children and found the house just beautiful with plenty of space for all."

    It was a great location and well situated for A short walk to the village and promenade. The owner kindly allowed us an earlier check in due to personal circumstances which was most helpful To our party. The property had all the basic necessities in the kitchen. Views were lovely, pretty garden and some comfy seating on the patio. Be wary of smaller children near the edge as there is a steep drop to the road. The cinema room was great for the younger ones And had Netflix, prime etc. Games room upstairs got used a lot too. We had a wonderful stay and will hopefully return at some point in the near future.

  • "We were a party of 8 adults/5 children/1 dog visiting Rockwood House over Aug bank holiday week."

    The house is ideal for large parties with great space for socialising and is in an ideal position to visit the many attractions of the Lake District. It has wonderful views of the River Kent estuary and Morecambe bay--fabulous sunrise views. There were however some drawbacks which with a little attention would improve the experience:- The kitchen needs more equipment--a larger microwave oven...various sizes of microwaveable dishes..serving spoons etc. What was supplied was of a basic nature, some of the glassware was of poor quality and broke in the dishwasher. Attention to details on cleaning could be better... the Dyson cleaner was blocked and hadn't been emptied for a good while and even when emptied it wasn't brilliant. The top of the fridge/freezer hadn't been cleaned for weeks, but in general the house/bedding/towels etc were fine. The large tv was almost unusable, with no terrestrial stations and just some random internet channels which took an age to load...we had to use our own laptop thru' the tv to stream netflix, amazon, sky etc. The dvd player worked fine. The velux window blinds in the top floor bedroom are unusable and need replacing. The garden was a good area for sitting and for the children to play in, but beware of the unguarded drop onto the pavement in one section. Regular maintenance of the garden would improve the outlook. We didn't let the drawbacks detract from what we all thought was a great holiday!!
