The apartment itself is modern, clean and very spacious with beautiful views out across the bay. I have to say that out of all the cottages we have rented over the years – this one had by far the most detailed information pack I have seen! Everything was listed to ensure that you have no problems (i.e. how to use the oven, heating, WiFi!) – this was a great touch as it meant you weren’t constantly guessing how things worked.
There is everything in the apartment you could need. The kitchen is very well equipped so you will have all the pans, pots, roasting dishes, cups, plates etc that you could possibly need! That was a refreshing change to some previous rentals we have used.
There was also the lovely touch of the welcome pack which included coffee, jams & marmalades and some freshly ground coffee and milk. That was very welcome after the journey from home to the Lakes!
Michael the owner was extremely helpful and was always on hand via text or phone should he be needed, he gave us detailed information on pubs/restaurants where our dogs would be welcome.
When we returned home we realised we had left one our dogs food bowls, Michael kindly posted it back to me the next day at his own cost which was very much appreciated.
Grange-Over-Sands itself is lovely, it’s a steady walk down the hill from the apartment. There are several shops (Spar, Co-op, Tesco) for all your general needs and an amazing Butchers and fruit and vegetable shop. So, you don’t need to stock your car with supplies before you travel, you can get everything here.
There are two pubs (Keg and Kitchen/The Commodore Inn), both of which are dog friendly and a number of takeaways if you don’t want to cook.
Lake Windermere is about 20 minutes away by car and if you want a nice walk (around 7 miles in total) then follow the national trust walk in Elterwater, we had a glorious walk in the sunshine through the hills.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Rowans, it’s a lovely place in a lovely town and we hope to return again soon.
