  • "We enjoyed our stay at Beck Steps 1."

A very well equipped kitchen, large luxury bathroom, but have to agree with previous comments regarding the chairs in the lounge - not very comfortable. If they were replaced, and a few other bits of furniture updated, this cottage would have the wow factor!

  • "Cottage was exceptionally clean and very well appointed."

The only thing we would comment is that it could do with a comfy sofa as others have noted.

  • "Beck Steps 1 was the perfect little cottage - even nicer than we thought it would be and in a perfect location!"

Grasmere was idyllic. Just a couple of things that would make the stay even better for the next guests.. The sofa and chairs were not very comfortable. I did see this in other reviews so would support that. The owners definitely need to invest in some new comfortable seating, especially after a long days walking! The cottage would also benefit from another cupboard above the table in the kitchen to put some bits away. There was no space at all for food storage. Finally it would have been good to have more than 1 towel each for the week and a hook in the bathroom somewhere to hang a bathrobe. The little patio could also be featured in the photos online as we thought it was a really nice feature! Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return if we go back to The Lake District!

  • "The cottage is really well located for exploring the Grasmere area."

There are many lovely walks straight from the door. It is handy too for places to eat and shops to browse. The cottage had everything we needed for a very comfortable and delightful stay.

  • "Backsteps is a lovely little cottage in the heart of the village."

It’s home from home in terms of facilities and a great base for exploring the Lakes. There are numerous walks literally from the doorstep. Having a parking space is a big plus too. We had a great week and will definitely be booking again. My only slight criticism is the sofa and chairs in the lounge are not very comfy. Apart from that the cottage is perfect!

However due to roof work on adjoining property there was scaffolding which meant the patio couldn’t be used and the designated parking place was unavailable.

The bathroom in particular was spectacular but we enjoyed snuggling up in front of the fire. We were in a short honeymoon and this was the perfect location.

  • "Lovely cottage right in the centre of Grasmere."

The silence at night is unbelievable and a great way to get away from it all. Lovely coffee shops on your doorstep as well as a good range of easy to moderate walks. Cottage warm and cosy for two lovely bathroom and comfy bed with several homely touches. Would return again if I was ever in the area. If you have a large car it is a little tricky the first time but great to have a parking space right at your doorstep.

  • "Had a wonderful week at the cottage in Grasmere and would thoroughly recommend."

Kitted out with everything you need and located right in the centre so ideal to walk / cycle / bus everywhere you might want to go. Great to have parking (although note if you have a large car like ours its quite tight to get in and out of, but doable with care!). Décor very much to our taste and absolutely spotless on arrival. Two very very minor suggestions - a clothes airer / line of some sort (it has a washer but then nowhere to hang clothes indoors when its raining) would be handy, and the luxury bathroom is great but would probably take our own "bath sheets" in future (towels provided were fine but the largest is a bath "towel" and personally like the much larger versions) . Am sure we will be back!

It is a pleasure to spend time in the very well presented accommodation. Walks and facilities are close at hand. The bus stops are just a short walk away so the car can be left behind.

It is a great location for walkers as there are many walks directly on your door step. There is also plenty restaurants within walking distance and many other local amenities. The cottage is great for a couple and is spotlessly clean. I thoroughly recommend it.

It meant we could park the car & leave it while we did all the popular walks. The facilities in the cottage were great and the WiFi worked a treat which was one of our needs. Worth noting that the property did have a washing machine despite an agent from Sykes telling us it didn’t, a real bonus! We plan to come back in the future!
