  • "A lovely cottage and enjoyed the garden too."

And the sheep in the field next to it!

Many thanks for your very positive feedback. It is gratifying to know you enjoyed Rowanberry Cottage, the garden and the surroundings. It is a 'lovely cottage' (as you say) in an excellent location. Thank you for choosing Rowanberry Cottage. Hopefully, you will return. Property Owner

  • "Rowanberry cottage is a fantastic place to stay."

Situated in the heart of Grasmere, it is a real gem. Giving access to the shops, galleries and pubs of Grasmere within less than 5 minutes, and with the bus service to the rest of the Lakes we found it an excellent place to stay. The house is situated in an oasis of calm; you feel as if you are right in the fells with wonderful views and with many varieties of birds visiting the garden. Car parking is excellent and the house is very comfortable with all mod cons.

Many thanks for your very positive feedback. It is extremely reassuring to know you had such a wonderful holiday and that you enjoyed Rowanberry Cottage and its location so much. Thank you for choosing Rowanberry Cottage for your spring holiday. Property Owner

  • "Thank you for another lovely week at Rowanberry Cottage."

It never fails to work magic. We loved the beautiful new bathrooms and everything was looking lovely. The colours in the garden almost changed for autumn in front of us.

  • "This was our second stay in Rowanberry Cottage and once again we had a wonderful holiday."

The cottage is lovely and in a perfect location. I would like to advise future guests of a couple of issues we had. There is a thermostat control for the upstairs heating in one of the bedrooms. This is in addition to the one downstairs. This was not in the information booklet and unfortunately I had to contact the owner as the bedrooms and bathrooms were cold. The owner was very prompt in helping us by sending a plumber and it was him who told us about the 2nd thermostat. Mindful of energy costs we avoided using the dishwasher hoping to save the owner on energy bills. Unfortunately this consideration backfired on me and I accidentally broke 2 dinner plates as they slipped off the draining board. I was hoping the owner may have shown some understanding as accidents do happen, however he asked to be reimbursed. For future guests please be very careful when handling the crockery as it is expensive which we found to our cost. These issues did not prevent us from enjoying our stay in Rowanberry Cottage and hopefully we will return in the future, but maybe I'll bring my own crockery next time!

Thank you for your feedback from which it is very pleasing to know you 'had a wonderful holiday'. It is gratifying to know you agree that 'The cottage is lovely and in a perfect location’. Your feedback does, however, contain factual errors and inaccuracies. When I 'phoned you in response to your text message about the upstairs radiators being cold, I asked if the thermostatic valves were 'open'. You said they were. I also asked if you had adjusted the thermostat in the bedroom. You said you had, so to deny knowledge of it is incorrect. In the 'information booklet' (that is the ring binder with information about the Cottage and equipment), both the downstairs and upstairs thermostats are referred to so to say otherwise is also incorrect. Not using the dishwasher was your personal choice. Thank you for contacting Lakelovers and honestly telling them about the two plates you broke. When I was 'phoned by Lakelovers about the plates, I was told you had offered to pay for them. I certainly did not ask to be reimbursed and to say otherwise is inaccurate. You are very welcome to return to Rowanberry Cottage. There is certainly no need to take your own crockery. Property Owner

  • "Although the property was lovely and very comfortable we felt there was room for improvement."

My husband is 86 and unsteady so I Suggest thinking about the access to garden from patio door ,it wasn't easy for him to get in and out it would be better if there had been a wide step , hand rail and maybe a level path to the seating area. Perhaps think about some friendly seating and a parasol for shade! It wasn't obvious where the bin was (we guessed the one by the drive gate) instructions about what the bin men would do on collection day would also have been useful. The notices about the VELUX skylight you spelt VELUX wrong. The cleaning instructions read like we were expected to clean the house, on the hoover it says we are to empty and clean the filler, I'm on holiday I didn't expect to clean the house.... Of course I expect to leave it tidy,. Put bin out and wipe down kitchen and bathroom sinks, sides and table. But there was no cloth or cleaner( I don't normally pack my Cleaning box) Cleaning notice says not to use bleach why is the cleaner in kitchen CIF with bleach? Also it is very bad food hygiene to stick a notice to the cutting board ! I was surprised not to see a guest book or a Welcome to Rowan berry have a lovely stay. We come to Grasmere most years and normally stay at bridge hotel, but this year has my husband's health is not great we decided self catering would be better and quieter. Which it was. Please think about the the things I've mentioned as we would love to stay again.

The wife (still young at heart! & myself 83!) feel that this cottage meets our needs with respect to its perfect location of being on the doorstep of all shops etc... but still has the peaceful countryside presence of being in "the middle of nowhere!". Many thanks for the loan of the cottage ... again!. Jan & Ray Ellis. Jan & Ray Ellis.
