Very popular location but disappointing for the price. Description does not make it clear this property is on a caravan site. Too many irritating items that need attention. Two key safes. One working . Why not remove the one that isn’t. Confusing when you arrive. In the bathroom only one light works. Reading other reviews been like this for months! Loo seat falls down. Shower is an assault course for seniors. No grab handles. No sink or bath plugs work anywhere. Bathroom or kitchen! Generously provide one loo roll. No spares. Light pull is a piece of string. Bed is suitable for Japanese visitors visiting Beatrix Potter sites. Bed very low more like a futon! In summary one to miss! Reviewed by KenOct 2021 "My original booking was cancelled - at no fault of Sykes - less than 2 days before I was due to arrive." I was notified and once I'd picked an alternative location this was all handled for me by Sykes, with the balance of the cost difference refunded to me within a couple of days. Reviewed by AlickAug 2021 "There was not a single lightbulb that worked in the kitchen area." The fridge was missing shelves. The sofa was odd and not really comfortable to sit in for long. The glass side tables terrified me as the glass was loose. Also when we moved them out to use them it was clear the smaller ones hadn’t been cleaned. The bed was very uncomfortable and I felt like I was going to roll out of it. The frame was too low and protruded into the room to make it difficult to negotiate in the dark without injury. I woke each morning wheezing heavily which is either due to dust or a dog being allowed to sleep on the bed. The shower is bizarre and was too low for my partner to use (he’s 6 foot). There is also only one light bulb working in the bathroom. There was no screen over the back door, so no privacy. Would not have booked if the description had said the property was in the middle of a caravan site. Reviewed by SianAug 2021 "Lovely cottage and location but in need of a little tlc." Two of the three lights in the bathroom had gone and the extractor fan was broken which made everything steam up. Only three coat hangers in the very small wardrobe . One of the lights gone in the lounge . The fridge needs upgrading as you can't regulate the temperature. The hob, cooker hood and shower weren't cleaned properly . Having said all this we enjoyed our stay and would go again. Oh if you have cereal for breakfast take your own bowls, theirs are tiny. The cottage is perfectly situated just outside Windermere with amazing views and country walks on the doorstep. We will book here again!! Reviewed by ScottJun 2021 "Whilst the property was as listed it was lacking on a few elements that could be easily fixed." 1. Several lights bulbs don’t work. 2. It need an over deep clean, someone had actually written clean me in the grease on the cooker hood. 3. Last visitors waste was left in the bedroom bin (not covid clean) 4. Equipment in the kitchen is from the 80’s/90’s where are the pasta/salad bowls, couldn’t get our breakfast in these little dishes. 5. Four of everything is not enough, when your on holiday! 6. Better range of glasses needed 7. No hand wash in bathroom or kitchen 8. Dishwasher is desperate for salt and rinse aid All of these are easily fixed but kitchen equipment was generally pour, especially when more reliant on catering at home due to covid. Otherwise very quiet location, and really enjoyed our week there overall.
