House really clean and big living area for 7 of us.

  • "Great house in a great location."

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to our family and friends. The house was warm and welcoming and had all the mod cons of modern living. The welcome pack was a nice touch from the owners as well. All in all a really enjoyable stay for our family.

  • "Really comfortable and cozy with a well equipped kitchen with everything you need for a family holiday."

Took full advantage of the riverside access going out daily up the river to Lakeside on the kayak. Saw deer, heron, ducks and geese. Loads of car parking space. Had a wonderful stay and would fully recommend

  • "We had a wonderful week’s stay at Newby Bridge House recently."

The house managed to be both characterful yet equipped with mostly every modern convenience you could hope for. The décor contemporary and tasteful. The outside space lovely and garden secure for our dog. The location was ideal in proximity to the attractions and stunning sceneries of The Lake District. We particularly loved the fact that you could walk behind the Swan hotel (nearby) to the Lakeside Pier take in the scenery and pick up a cruise directly to Bowness and/or Ambleside. You could also take the car and park if you so wished. In terms of constructive comments, it is as you may expect a popular/busier traffic heavy area therefore expect to wait when trying to approach or leave the house. But this is not a real detracting factor just a consideration.

  • "Superb house in superb location."

Amazing garden - dog loved it. We would have spent more time out there had it not rained every day. The entire house and its facilities are first class. The decor and furnishings are modern and tasteful. The beds are plush and comfortable. The kitchen and utility are very well equipped. The enormous fridge freezer is dreamy. Plenty of space for teens to chill in the den. The only thing the house lacks is a downstairs toilet - I appreciate there is one in the outbuilding but my elderly parents would have appreciated one in the house so they didn't have to climb the stairs as often. Would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful, relaxing and wonderful house. It is as stunning inside as it is outside. We all enjoyed our stay.

  • "We absolutely loved the house."

We really loved the peace sitting at the end of the garden. A great holiday! Our dog loved the lake at the end of the garden. A great experience.

  • "Stunning house in a beautiful setting."

This was our first self catering holiday in the UK with our dog (usually European hotels!) so was a big change for us - we are now converted - thank you! There is nothing that we would change. The photos on the website show the old kitchen - the new kitchen deserves to be shown off - we were also pleased to see the Nespresso coffee maker! The Swan Hotel is lovely for a drink and meals - also very dog friendly. We found a new footpath behind the hotel - West Windermere Way which was fabulous for dog walking. We would definitely recommend this lovely place.

Only a few minutes walk over the bridge to the Swan hotel. Well equipped and beautifully furnished. Highly recommended, and we will be returning.

  • "We’ve just returned from staying at Newby Bridge House and the property did not disappoint."

It was an amazing house with all the comforts we needed to make our stay memorable. The decor of the house was very tasteful and all the furniture and beds were really comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all crockery you could possibly need during your stay and had the luxury of a washing machine, tumble driver and dishwasher. The back garden was fabulous leading onto open riverbank which was ideal for the dog and was a sun trap when the sun finally made an entrance. Our 3 year old grandson and the family thoroughly enjoyed their adventures and we are planning a return in the not too distant future.

  • "The cottage was excellent and beautifully maintained inside and out."

My only negative comment would be that even though dogs are allowed the garden area could be a little more secure as the main road is very close. (My dog managed to get through the hedge). Other than this I would definetely recommend.

  • "The house is in a beautiful setting even if on a busy road."

You couldn’t really hear the traffic even when sitting down by the river. It is obvious that care has been taken in the decoration of the rooms and the added touches of PlayStations etc and games in a fabulous study ensures others may enjoy the lounge area for reading or watching the tv with the log burner on. Provision of logs was a plus. Nice touch on providing dishwasher/washing machine pods and cleaning products. We would probably say that only one suggestion regarding towels is that bath sheets as opposed to towels might be better option but the quality of these were fabulous and lovely and soft. In the kitchen the provision of some tea and coffee was appreciated. We couldn’t find the grill handle but maybe we weren’t looking correctly. On trying to keep the property swept and clean , we found the Dyson slightly ineffective especially if you have a pet. Luckily we had fabulous weather and was not walking much dirt into the house. All the family had a great time and enjoyed their week at Newby Bridge. Definitely worth a visit.

The kitchen had everything that was needed. Plenty of parking and the garden going down to the river was a real bonus. Cushions for the garden furniture of a high standard. Little things like the cutlery all lined up in sections in the draw. Someone had really taken care of presenting this house to a very high standard.

About the location

NEWBY BRIDGE

Bowness-on-Windermere 8 miles.

The small village of Newby Bridge takes its name from the five arched stone bridge built in 1651 over the River Leven. The famous Furness Railway, one of Britain's oldest working standard gauge steam railways, runs between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge. Visit the Lakeside Hotels and enjoy magnificent views across Windermere and the surrounding fells, or enjoy the Aquarium of the Lakes, where the naturally themed habitats, bring the history of the Lakes vividly to life. Bowness-on-Windermere provides a lovely day out, plus the picturesque village of Hawkshead still retains the charm and character that so endeared it to its most famous residents - William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, and admire the views at nearby Gummer's How.
