  • "Superb quality cottage."

Spacious living room & kitchen. Window blinds were so welcomed & needed (very hot weather). Decor really relaxing and to a high standard. The bedroom upstairs has a low ceiling, tall people would struggle. Impossible to sit up in bed to read or have a drink without your head being against the wall. Location is excellent for touring the area. Should we return we will bring sun loungers - the garden is so peaceful to relax in. Hot tub we used once & thoroughly enjoyed it. The one thing we would have liked is a fan in the bedroom - it gets very hot upstairs and even with all skylights open it made our sleep uncomfortable. Same goes for the Living room, a fan would have been a welcome addition. The shared gated driveway was easy for us as there were no guests in the cottage next door.

  • "We have just had a wonderful week at Stoney Wall and the surrounding area."

It is a fabulous, brand new modern open-plan apartment with a wonderful hot tub to relax in. There is a very spacious double bedroom upstairs and sofa bed downstairs. It is in the heart of Roman Wall country, amidst magnificent scenery and not far from the Scottish border. Thirlwall Castle ruins are a very short walk away. The excellent Roman Army Museum is on the outskirts of Greenhead by Walltown Country Park. The Sill, the new National Park Discovery Centre is about 10 minutes away and is well worth a visit too and is on the way to Vindolanda. You can see views of Sycamore Gap along here as well as along the B6318 if you don't wish to walk to it. We would love to return and highly recommend it. Many thanks to Lorraine and Sarah, her housekeeper.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stoney Wall."

The location is excellent for both Hadrian's Wall and the Lake District. The hot tub was great after a full day's hiking. The bedroom was too hot, even with the windows open so we had to go and buy a fan. My only recommendations for improvement would be supply a fan and a clothes horse so we could dry the clothes/ towels outside.

  • "A perfectly located comfortable property which has been furnished to a very high standard."

Perfect for a couple. Definitely not your average holiday rental. A short flat walk takes you to a lovely pub, the Greenhead Hotel which does an excellent early evening set price menu. The property is excellently located for many of the Hadrian's Wall sites, so if your a history buff, perfect. In your not it's still perfect for walks and visiting several towns, villages and pubs close by . Or if you just want to relax and unwind, there is a hot tub for you to soak away in and chill. I would definitely recommend this property. Thanks to Lorraine, the owner, for a perfect stay.
