"My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights and it was amazing and cosy."
The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating and have made this stay even more comfortable than expected. Deers stroll casually by the cottage gardens and is an absolute delight. The cottage is a 10 minute drive from stunning morecambe bay and arnside with magical sunset views. The wood burner in the cottage is a fantastic feature and my husband and I definitely made the most of this. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a cosy and quiet stay which is close to all the stunning sites in the Lake District!! Thank you to the owners!
"We requested to cancel this holiday for a very good reason but were informed that ‘Sykes cancellation insurance isn’t exactly cancellation insurance’(!"
!) which is very misleading on their website. In the end, we went (otherwise it was a full loss) and Gamekeepers Cottage was excellent - it’s just Sykes that wasn’t.
"The owners of the property are very welcoming and helpful."
Property is spotless and comfortable with all facilities you would ever need. Set in beautiful location with lots of interesting places to visit and walks you can do close by. Loved every day. A fabulous week.
"The owners were so friendly and gave us many excellent recommendations for places to visit and restaurants."
The cottage is in a fabulous location to explore the area and is so cosy. Everything you need is provided enabling you to start your holiday immediately. Would recommend this superb cottage as a base any time.
"The cottage was very comfortable, tastefully decorated and included everything we needed."
The owners were very helpful and gave us lots of ideas of where to visit and places to eat. It was great that you could go walking from the cottage and an added bonus was the pub just a couple of minutes walk away which served good food.
"The Game Keepers Cottage is beautiful."
Set in a gorgeous garden with lots of wildlife. Really relaxing. The owners are a lovely couple who could not be more accommodating. If we do return to The Lake District I would have no qualms about staying in Hale again. A welcome pack on arrival was a very thoughtful touch.
"Wonderful cottage, very clean and comfortable."
Excellent views and convenient for attractions. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Wildlife in the garden was smart and the sunrises were outstanding.
"The booking was very easy and Sykes kept us informed right the way through."
.....The cottage itself was outstanding, a proper home from home...the owners were the nicest most helpful people we could of hoped for, from the fresh flowers to the welcome pack including a bottle of wine was a very lovely unexpected bonus....they also offered lots of info on places to visit around the area.....I would definitely recommend this property and we will definitely like to revisit ourselves....thanks
"Lovely cottage with everything you need in a beautiful area."
Close to all places of interest.
"We would recommend the holiday cottage to anyone."
"Lovely location with plenty of good walks from the doorstep."

"Absolutely great, great location, wonderful veiw, comfortable and well ..."
Absolutely great, great location, wonderful veiw, comfortable and well appointed, hosts very knowledgeable and helpfull, would recommend, great places to eat and drink great places to visit, brilliant
"The cottage is lovely and well appointed."
Large comfortable bed. Small but functional shower room. Hosts great. Only downside is the parking is up a very steep driveway which is difficult to manoeuvre.
"After years of holidays further up in The Lakes, it was a change to be able to stop a little further south and miss the more “touristy” areas."
A week of great weather provided the chance to visit old haunts as well as creating some new ‘favourites’ - the topiary at Levens Hall is still brilliant, and an afternoon with the Ospreys (at Foulshaw Moss) was a delight. The “chippy” at Arnside was also a real find... The cosy cottage with delightful gardens (and fabulous bird tables and bird baths!) made for a comfortable base. The ensuite shower and a lush ‘dressing room’ were added benefits, along with a full range of guides and leaflets for attractions both local and further afield. A warm welcome from our helpful and knowledgable hosts was much appreciated, along with the drinks pack and chocolate biscuits. The cottage was spotlessly clean and well-equipped, with quality fittings and furniture (even down to soft fluffy throws for cooler evenings). Look out for the amazing chandelier in the bedroom! Minor issues were the A6 road noise and the steep access drive, but these were outweighed by fabulous views and the otherwise excellent facilities.
"Beautiful country side good location quite central to lakes."
Kendal good shopping area
"The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, with beautiful views and lots of wildlife to watch in the garden."
It is situated in a lovely area with nice walks from the doorstep, and within easy reach of the lakes. The Owners are great hosts who made us very welcome at short notice! I heartily recommend it.
"Cottage was beautiful, and in a lovely location."
The Owners very helpful.
"The Owners were the most brilliant hosts always helpful."
They both have a great sense of humour which I feel is so important.
"The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble."
We were welcomed and shown into a cottage decorated for Christmas, very thoughtful and totally unexpected. The cottage is warm and cosy, clean and easy to manage. Plenty of firewood supplied for the wood burner. The attention to detail in everything you could ever need in the kitchen. Sadly I was ill throughout our stay but when we did get out it was nice to know that the cottage would be warm and inviting to return to.
Warm welcome from owners. Great location for the lakes. Lots of great restaurants near by. Highly recommended.

"Absolutely brilliant cottage, very helpful and friendly owners."
The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was decorated and furnished to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed the Lakes and surrounding countryside and pretty villages.
"Cosy cottage that is well maintained and one of the joys is the garden and the view across the valley."
